The Hood Hunts in a Pack - "Who is Bloated Toad"

The Hood Hunts in a Pack

Dude, please. Without sounding too prentious, whenever any potential "local would be play-ARR" has spent a minimum of one year at a journalism school, they MAY become a rival of GAW and the Award Winning Bat-Blog. Has anyone currently at the CCC, even actually SEEN the Ernie Pyle Memorial at IU, much less studied there? MC, you are beginning to rattle the condesending CCC wannabes. Don't back off from them. Keep up the good work. Please contribute to GAW and the Bat-Blog. They are fun! Additionally, remember, Goliath and HoosierTaxpayer are very good roll models. They are 'Toons! They have an exceptional "stringer" that contributes. None can compare. A question for you, Grasshopper, as you have ambition: "Who is the 'Bloated Toad' "? If you ever solve the question, PLEASE do NOT post his name on line. There will be wisdom in learning of such a manipulator. It is a path to understanding Clark County politics. Current political office seekers/holders and/or "wanna-bes" PALE compared to his ability to cause problems for all of us

HT Productions - Pesty "Macho Man" Flannigan - Jeffersonville's Lord of the Dance

After viewing the Academy awards last night and young Matt Chinn's new release " Be like Mike " Be Like Mike HT thought he would pull off the shelf his Classic documentary - Pesty "MachoMan" Flannigan Jeffersonville's Lord of the Dance. This Youtube sensation with over 35 views was HT's first venture into the Cinema world. The public is clamoring for more from HT productions but at this time HT's remake of  The Wizard of OZ and HT the Man and the Myth are on hold due to production cost over runs. Let's all look back at a Cinema Masterpiece

New Poll - Should Pesty return to the CCC ???

Pre Makeover
New Poll to the right - Should Pesty Flannigan soldier of fortune, bon vivant, author, legal expert, metrosexual lady's man rejoin  the Clark Co. Chatter ??

Pesty rose to fame on the CCC by unashamedly and innocently pushing Goliath's blog, baubles and trinkets to the unsuspecting members. Only to be labelled a "Sockpuppet", banished to the dreaded Chatterbox and then finally ostracized by a small faction of disgruntled members led by the Big Q,  Debbie and ColtsFan. Pesty always made it interesting, battling miscontents in the battle of the written word, often victorious, except in his battles with his future comrade HT who he was no match for.

Should He Return ???

Help Wanted - Bodyguard

HT looking for a few good  bodyguards much like the ones Moammar Gaddafi has. And nurse

Nurse

Translation of video:
When the leader sleeps, the soldier stays awake, and it's the women who do the fighting. Gaddafi trusts his security to ladies only. The head of the Libyan Jamahiriya has a total of 300-400 girls on his security detail. According to the official story, all of them are virgins. Selection is done by Gaddafi himself. This whim has an explanation for it: In ancient times, they believed that the best guards were either virgins or lesbians, the underlying belief being that they could sense threats, the so-called wind of death. The girls were even sterilized to make them more aggressive toward men. There can be different views on these stories, but it was the girls with Kalashnikovs who saved Gaddafis life several times. During the assassination, they shielded him from gunfire and grenades. One died, two others were wounded. The bodyguards are with Gaddafi day and night. Each of them can handle several strong men. According to some sources, most of the girls are Cuban.
Guest Commentary - The Hood Hunts in a Pack
on Mayoral Candidate Teresa Perkins

The BatBlog being a equal opportunity blog welcomes guest commentary on Candidates in Election 2011. All candidates are welcome as well to post commentary, biography or campaign platforms. Today "The Hood Hunts in a Pack" presents a look at Teresa Perkins- D - Mayoral candidate....

The Hood Hunts in a Pack
H-T: I know that you are intrigued with the new candidate TBP and that she may well emerge as the "game changer". This is from the rival GAW and I know that he won't mind your posting it on the Award Winning Bat-Blog! THE REAL DEAL

Teresa Bottorff Perkins is a graduate of Jeffersonville High School where she was an honor roll student. She was a long time classroom teacher, first starting in the fall of 1970. She is an ISTA member, has been a delegate to the Democrat State Convention, holds undergraduate and advanced degrees from Indiana University, has received several state certifications including a principal's license and administrator's license, and is certified in a planning capacity.

She is a life long resident of Jeffersonville whose family has been here for many generations. Even though she has not sought elective public office before, she has been keenly aware of and involved with public policy issues. She clearly understands both the benefits and the limitations of government. She very well comprehends that, especially in tough times, governments must live within their means just like families must . She understands that the distribution of government funds and resources must be closely monitored and wisely allocated. She understands the problems that occur with excessive taxation and the subsequent waste of taxpayers' resources. She has served as a principal and assistant school corporation administrator . Teresa has restored a historic property and supported economic growth in Clark County, including business, industrial, and residential development. She understands the need for the future development of our tax base to provide for a better life and better place to live for all of our citizens.
Teresa Perkins

Even though she is "an outsider to having run for public office before", she has networked very well and has extensive contacts. She has a reputation as being very fair and knowledgeable and very good to work with. She is charming, thorough, well prepared, unpretentious, and a hard working problem solver. She gets things done. She is accessible and she listens. Among her many responsibilities and extensive work experience is being very involved with the budgets of a $63,000,000 a year school corporation.

Without going into too much detail or attempting to speak for her, this is a quick overview of her background, experience, and ability. I am sure that she will be releasing a lot more information as the campaign unfolds. You can be certain that will she not be afraid to express her ideas about issues that are important to Jeffersonville and Clark County. She will have intelligent, well thought out solutions. When you meet and talk with her, you will be impressed with her. Jeffersonville would be very fortunate to have a person like her serve as mayor

HT is in Jeffersonville not Pekin

"I'm in Jeff not Pekin you infidel dogs"
Meet the Candidates - Election 2011
Tom Galligan - HT's Analysis

The first candidate to discuss is Tom Galligan incumbent Dem. mayoral candidate. Mr. Galligan is the veteran three term Mayor seeking his fourth term. Tom will as always be a formidable candidate in this years race. Galligan has a very loyal backing from a strong political base accumulated over his nearly twelve years in office. Mr. Galligan probably faces the toughest race of his career as fellow Democrats have put together a very strong primary field with the winner having to face strong GOP candidate Mike Moore in the fall election. TG is probably the most polarizing candidate in the race. His in your face and act now , ask questions later style has ruffled some feathers.

Tom Galligan
The Issues
Several big issues will come into play in this years election, concerning Mayor Galligan's job performance. The Vissing Park development, the Canal project, annexation, higher sewer bills just to name a few. These are all controversial issues where a sitting Mayor may get the blame from the voters. Especially the higher sewer bills and annexation, these would have occurred no matter who was mayor, but usually the voter takes it out on who's in office.

HT's Spin
Like I said earlier TG maybe in for the toughest race of his career. He'll be facing some tough proven opponents in both the primary and general election. Can Galligan win ? Don't count him out just yet. He does have a loyal base of voters and the big field in the Primary makes it a tossup, in my opinion. If he win the primary he would benefit in the rumored 3rd party candidate being in the race, rather than a one on one match up with Mike Moore. The negative issues covered before may be too much for him to overcome though....

Later this week HT looks at Rob Waiz - D

The Mysterious "The Hood Hunts in a Pack" on Election 2011

My friend "The Hood Hunts in a Pack" today weighs in on his preliminary assessment of Election 2011. While me and "Hood" have our differences politically a lot of his information and insight is right on. While GAW (Goliathandwimmens) has been a hot spot for breaking news, the award winning BatBlog continues to be the place to be for  hard hitting analysis and commentary on election 2011. Goliath in the meanwhile is locked up in debate with some wingnuts over Gay rights. Later he and his cycling team have a afternoon bike run (See yesterday's post)
Now I'll turn it over to the HooD

H-T: Most interesting. Some developing thoughts that H-T may agree with. H-T is always thinking. As this process goes forth, it may be tough for RW to gain the traction of before. The players and issues have changed dramatically. Although RW is certainly an inoffensive nice guy candidate, he ANNEXED the 'BURBS. Much resentment. He also does not have the luxury of having TG one-on-one like before. As a former mayor , he also actually carries the broad "anti-incumbency" taint "of being in office or having been in office". He has his own "anti" problems. The whole "part of the problem" thing. TG, RW, MM, and KV also must all carry that burden! RW must try to continue the "anti-TG" mantra that both he and MM have loudly espoused:"I'm not Tom." He will try to tell what he will now do differently from before to try to break out of the pack. Tough to do with the configuration of the race and the change in demographics of the voters.

Both RW and KV do get a slight percentage increase with MM jumping, but it won't be enough. After the twist of "party jumping" by MM, MM won't get to actually benefit from the three years of attacking TG !!! Ironic or poetic? Strange how that plan didn't work out after all that sustained effort. I had RW at 13% with MM in the race. Now, early on, it looks like maybe 20%, with an early potential high in the range 25%. He is actually now just a version of "TOM LIGHT". He will run a very intelligent race, but there just aren't enough votes to go around and he isn't now the best alternative. He could possibly edge out TG for second if Tom crumbles or fades. KV also dogs both of them demographically. ( As H-T points out, KV does have a nice slogan!) It is tough for either TG or RW to get above the "one vote out of four level" (25%) with the heightened interest drawn by the field of candidates. If we allow 25% each for TG and RW and possibly (a stretch) 10% for KV as their "base vote", it is very difficult for any of them to now build on that and "break out". MM faced that problem. He already had an approximate ceiling. He had a base but was no longer the only anti-TG candidate. The same problem of not enough votes to around. Too risky. Those darn "pesky" voters like choices. RW certainly doesn't have a base of 1/3rd of the vote in this primary. Tom "might" have had a 1/3 vote base against just MM and RW, but that will be tough to hold now. Too many new variables and choices. in reality, Tom is more popular than the "power brokers" think, and could actually take votes from RW and KV, if his campaign issues and achievements gain traction of their own. An early poll is to be out in two weeks or so. I think that a poll taken after 30-45 days of TBP campaigning will shock. Momentum change could be significant.

The unknown, as H-T wisely points out , is from TBP and that could be a complete game changer in the election dynamics for the entire year. Essentially, TG, RW, and KV must draw from the same well. Both MM and KV have to answer for some of the financial woes of the extreme mismanagement of Clark County government. Both MM and KV have excuses, but there is still a statistical segment of the public that won't buy it. It was broken on their watch. That moves some votes away from them and adds to the mix.

HT Goes Cycling

HT
HT put on his Speedos strapped on his backpack got his mountain bike out and hit the road. The weather is getting better and HT ran into a lot of fellow bikers enjoying the beautiful day. HT took his IPhone along and got some good shots of fellow bikers as they cycled along the country lanes and roads here in Clark County. Ran into some old friends along the way.Great day to be cycling...Tammy and her sister Pammy were out and even some of the power brokers of Jeff relaxing before the pressure of the election season enjoyed the day....

Meet the Candidates - Election 2011
More of HT's Analysis

With HT's candidacy at jeopardy and in limbo at this time I have decided to move forward and examine all the candidates in the 2011 mayoral election as well as some other local races. HT will try to be unbiased and fair in analyzing each candidate and their chances. My analysis will culminate with a pre-election night Prediction Special where I will predict the upcoming races. HT was very accurate in predicting the inroads made by the GOP in the Clark County, state and national races last year and should provide some interesting predictions this year as well. You can look forward to guest commentary, by my friend the mysterious "The Hood Hunts in a Pack" as well. I'm sure he'll weigh in from time to time. I will also post updates from GAW- Goliathandwimmens ( the local place to be for breaking election and political news.) I encourage all readers as well to leave comments about the candidates and races. It looks like an exciting and interesting election with a very diversified field for voters to chose from. Over the next several weeks I'll take each candidate and one by one thoroughly go over candidacy and analyze their chances in both the primaries and the general election. We will even post some odds where you can make a bet with your local bookie.

Batblog New Feature - Yesteryears
HT has found these neat old pictures of Jeffersonville the top one is Court Ave. back when casino's flourished in downtown. I think a couple of these buildings might still be standing. The bottom picture is the marriage parlor where HT and Mrs. HT were married. I like the sign "marriage licenses procured here."
