Do the Right Thing Democrats Elect Dustin White as Clark Co. Dem. Chairman...

The local Democratic party has an opportunity to move forward in the near future ...Will they ???  According to sources Dustin White and Tom Galligan are the two candidates for the Clark Co. Dem. chairmanship being vacated by Bob Bottoroff. White a local attorney and former City Council candidate against Galligan the former Jeffersonville mayor for a very important position leading the local Dem. party.

The BatBlog is asking local democrats to do the right thing and elect Dustin White as chairman. It's time for a new look and new younger ideas for local Democrats. Galligan has had his time in politics and has left a bad taste in the mouth of a lot of voters. His my way or the highway approach just doesn't work with the voters anymore. Lets give Mr. White an opportunity with his youth and enthusiasm to end the huge gains by the local GOP. The old guard's time is running out, it's time to move on.

My fear is though that the same precinct committeemen that appointed "Toxic" John Perkins as Clark Co. Commissioner will select Galligan and  Democrats will again take two more steps back. Because as I look down the list of precinct committeemen and women I see the same tired faces who have manipulated Dem.'s for years and have frankly given the party and politics here in Clark Co. a bad name... Elect Dustin White as Dem. chairman ....

The Big Q's CCC Upgrade

The once vibrant local forum the Clark County Chatter was dealt another blow by the despot dictator in charge .....Quasar. The Big Q's  recent upgrade of the site and obviously lacking the technical skills and know how of former administrators SuperMike and Coltsfan, the Big Q has made the CCC a virtual mess. Beset by not being able to post at all or constant error messages the CCC has become a shell of what it once was. It's a shame too because a community forum is a great idea and there are wonderful people that post on there, under the right leadership it could thrive again.

It always amazes me that someone (Quasar) who preaches about how much he hates government interference and control. Yet he rules over the CCC much like Nazi Germany, attempting to silence those who might question him and his dictator like rule. If you are too outspoken or call out the BS by the dictator in chief he attempts to banish  and silence you. Which fortunately doesn't work in the USA or on the internet.....

Rampant Drug Use at the Clark Co. Jail ??? An I Team Report

I had an anonymous viewer comment on one of the political posts last week about alleged drug use at the Clark Co. Jail his comment below....

A major issue with the Clark County jail is the amount of illegal drugs available to the inmates. Any inmate who has spent any time in jail will report that any drug available on the street is available in jail. This is common knowledge. Anyone associated with the courts or law enforcement is aware of this. Unless they hide their head in the sand and pretend the problem does not exist. A sheriff's candidate must run on a promise to clean up the jail. If we can't keep the dope out of our jails, how can we expect to control drug trafficking on the street.

I had a follow up comment where the poster who asked not to be published that backed up Anon.1's allegation. The BatBlog assumes there is probably various amounts of drug usage in all jails, but was wondering if anyone else out there can confirm or deny these serious allegations to the BatBlog I (Investigation) Team. As always anonymity will be protected. The BatBlog I Team is considering having HT go under cover, have himself arrested in order to personally investigate this situation....

***NOTE*** As always you can leave comments to the BatBlog and ask that they not be published. We receive a lot of good information and ideas for stories and posts from these comments. Just put "Do Not Publish" in your comment. We Welcome all tips and ideas....

Point / Counter Point ...... Goliath's Podcast

The gospel according to st. Tom
The BatBlog would  like to comment on GAW's recent podcast. First of all it was great idea having some of the local candidates, a couple of whom are new to the political scene on hand in an informal type of setting commenting on politics and other issues. Judge candidate Laura Harbison   was particularly interesting as a new comer to the local political scene, she was well spoken and charming and she plugged the BatBlog. She will make an excellent replacement for Judge Jacobi.

Overall the the interviews were well handled by the "Hood" and the Big "G" with the exception of the Galligan interview. The Hood gushed over Galligan like a teenager with his first crush.  Hood and Galigan made it sound like Galligan  was totally responsible for every job, every business, every economic gain in all Clark Co. since time began, simply because a new sewer plant was built during his term as mayor. Give us a break !!!

Galligan is all that is wrong with local politics and politicians. He bullied his way through Jeffersonville starting projects without the proper permits or permission. Some of these projects lay unfinished to this day with wasted tax dollars in their wake.  He illegally fired the sewer management firm which resulted in a  lawsuit that cost taxpayers nearly a million dollars. He hoodwinked and bulldozed the City Council into his grand "Canal" idea knowing full well that public was tepid at the least over the idea. The list goes on and on, under his realm Jeffersonville laid dormant for years.

There were a lot of factors that have gone into recent economic development in Clark Co.  and it's totally disingenuous  to think Galligan's sewer plant was the  pivotal factor that spurred the economic growth . If he was the visionary that he and the Hood make him out to be. Why didn't he have the foresight to improve the highway and road infrastructure which is now a mess in that area.

There was a lot of factors in the recent boon at River Ridge the main one being the good fortune of the land of the former Army ammunition plant  being declared surplus and conveyed by Congress to the local area. The BatBlog says thumbs up to the Goliath podcast but when it comes to Galligan lets tell the whole story and tell it like it is next time....

More Mandates on the Way....Higher Taxes

Look out Clark Co. taxpayers once again you are about to get hosed  The story from the N/T :  MORE MANDATES.
Yes a mandate has been filed filed by the Clark Co. Sheriff's Dept. and if John Perkin's has his way other Departments  may follow suit. Mandates are nothing more than tax increases, necessitated when departments can't or won't stay within their allotted budgets.Unfortunately for Clark Co.property owners and taxpayers these mandates have become almost an every year occurrence or in essence a yearly tax increase.

As every household  knows operating under a budget is at times a perilous, up and down situation that ebbs and flows with income (intake) versus outflow (expenditures.) Unlike Co. government though, individual taxpayers don't have the luxury of suing their employer for more money when their budget gets overdrawn. The BatBlog's position is that there is absolutely no incentive for the individual Dept.s of County government to stay within their budgets. Spending goes on uncontrolled knowing full well that the taxpayers like you and me will just foot the bill....Where does it end  ???

The Sheriff's Dept. has already filed for a nearly 6 million dollar mandate for shortfalls in that Dept,  and Co. Commissioner John Perkin's proposal to finance another $870,000 shortfall  is to cut items from some of the various Dept's budgets then have the effected Dept. turn around and sue for a mandate. In other words Perkins is asking for a tax raise, it's as simple as that. Please remember this on primary election day...we are told how well educated Mr. Perkins is about government operations, you would think he could apply his vast knowledge and come up with something a little more creative than merely raising taxes.
