Jeffersonville Traffic Problems...When Do They Get Attention ???
With major expansion occurring in and around the Veterans Pkwy., the Riverport, and the east end near Amazon, city officials have pretty much dropped the ball on keeping the traffic patterns and road infrastructure up with the expansion. While the new east end bridge may help alleviate some of the huge influx of traffic to Amazon and other businesses in River Ridge that come down Hwy. 62 from the Kennedy Bridge. Major changes and planning need to applied immediately to the Veterans Pkwy and the Clark Maritime riverport areas.
With only minor changes over the years Jeffersonville has basically the same traffic infrastructure that was used in the 60's. Allison Lane, Middle Road and especially Holman Ln. was never meant to handle the huge amount of traffic that has increased the last 50 years and has created a logjam of traffic everyday at rush hour and beyond.
Utica Pike, Allison Lane, Holman Ln.and Middle Road all need to be four lanes and a new route to the Jeffersonville side of Veterans Pkwy. and Clarksville needs to be built and soon. It's almost impossible to make a turn off or on Holman during rush hour Holman Ln. was basically a country road when built and is thirty years out of date.
Every mayoral administration including the present one has ignored traffic patterns and problems for years. The new businesses, jobs and progress is nice but traveling around this area is a nightmare a solution and acrions are needed...

Jeff went for the money grab and annexed the east end, now they don't want to take care of the streets and roads associated with that part of town. It will get a lot worse if something isn't done.
ReplyDeleteThere are matching grants from the state if we ask for them. It all takes time, buying easements, engineering, etc etc. No matter who's in office, road improvements are time consuming.
ReplyDeleteThat is true but you must have the foresight to plan ahead intelligently...and that has been sadly lacking here locally...
ReplyDeleteHamburg Pike should have been the last improvement instead of the first...the east end is where all the traffic is and the infrastructure is poorly lacking...
I love traffic! It is nothing when compared to many parts of the country.
ReplyDeleteThe very slight inconvenience is well worth it! KIPDA and INDOT are on this to assist the great City of Jeffersonville. Slow down and enjoy the prosperity!
With the exception of the issues related to bridge construction, even the worst Jeff traffic doesn't seem so bad compared to other places. Maybe it's because I know which side street or parking lot to zip through and which left turns to avoid, but, really traffic seems like the least of our problems.
ReplyDeleteNot to take away from your bitching. You're doing a fine job.
Traffic should be last thing on the long list of fixing Jeff.. Find something else to complain about.
ReplyDeleteJust call em like I see em...If you like sitting in traffic because of poor foresight knock your lights out....
ReplyDeleteimo, the whole area is under construction, so sitting in traffic will be a norm for a couple years. An extra 5 min here or there, is nothing to cry about.
ReplyDeleteTraffic rocks!
ReplyDeleteMC and nsbdm... do not!
No traffic = bad....
ReplyDeleteLots of traffic = good!
$$$$ !
Prosperity!
Hoosier Raxpayer does have a point! The city council is concerned with abolishing the city court, obstructing the many projects that the Mayor has in the works, spending excessively on the soccer parking lot, supporting their plants in the median scandal, and arrogantly attacking those who have a different opinion,
ReplyDeletewhile they do nothing about traffic!

All I want is to get home before bedtime. Is that too much to ask for?
