Her opponent Kevin Vissing (D) current Co. council member has worked his butt off getting out meeting his constituents. The Batcave is in the 3rd Dist. and the BatBlog has seen KV several times traveling through neighborhoods meeting the people. Kevin is approachable and posts to the internet answering tough questions unlike very few candidates or office holders.
Kevin has gained experience and has improved as office holder during his stint on the County council. The only concern the BatBlog has will KV be able to work with mayor Mike Moore if Moore is reelected...Experience, hard work and approachability give Kevin a slight edge over Ms. Jahn but it could be a close race as the 3rd Dist. went Republican in 2011...
The BatBlog endorsement goes to Kevin Vissing...
Thanks HT. This really means a lot to me!
ReplyDeleteThe BatBlog will be watching Kevin...be your own man stand up for what is right and don't just vote with the crowd...
ReplyDeleteI guess you're not going to discuss the donkey in the room of the 200 or so Democrat votes that suddenly appeared on the voting tallies yesterday? Not a comment on the KV endorsement, but the blog is losing credibility on those votes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Galligan's absentee vote expert got out of prison and turned in some bogus absentee ballots...
ReplyDeleteKevin Vissing is a good call. I've never met, or even heard of Jahn before this year.
ReplyDeleteYou would be changing the topic person to Moore then?
ReplyDeleteIt is hoped most adult males' girlfriends are post teenage because laws.
ReplyDeleteGiven that this particular young WOMAN is highly educated and accomplished, it's not at all screwed up, and there are no indications it's just for fun.
Sexism much?
Asshole.
She may be an accomplished highly educated young woman but it's my understanding she only just registered to vote late last summer. She's young but has had a least a few other opportunities to vote before last fall's election.
ReplyDeleteFor someone so eager to engage in the political process it seems it's a new found passion for her. But at least she registered in time to vote for Zach last fall and then I guess herself this spring.
I'm sorry but that doesn't exactly inspire confidence in her real interest in politics, local or otherwise. Or motives, hers or others.
How old is she? Who was she supposed to vote for in 2013?
ReplyDeleteI believe she is in her early 20's....I believe Anon. was referring to voting for Zach Payne which reportedly is her boyfriend...Payne previously was the elected Dist. 3 councilman in 2011..
ReplyDeleteAnd ran for Recorder in 2014. ( Payne )
ReplyDeleteIt's not a question of who she should have voted for in 2013 or any other year she was eligible to vote in. It's that she apparently had no interest in voting prior to fall 2014.
I find it curious and troublesome that someone so interested in community government and service didn't seem too interested prior to her involvement with a current office holder and her subsequent decision to run for office herself.
Age doesn't necessarily have to be a factor. I'm sure there are some young elected officials who do a wonderful job serving. I don't think that applies however to the two young men elected to the Jeff council in 2011 ( Owen and Payne). We may as well have elected invisible men for all they accomplished or added to the council. And since that's the company Ms. Jahn keeps and is influenced by just another reason I'll pass.
I agree totally Anon. and that's why I endorsed KV. You have to wonder why someone apparently uninterested in even voting would run for office....
ReplyDeleteMy guess Payne told her about the easy gig in politics, even after his and Lapdog Owens lackluster performance on the council, he (Payne) was able to get an even cushier job in politics....
Not questioning the dedication of young people but it makes you wonder after the no shows by both Payne and Lapdog at council meetings.
They both won initially on a gimmick (their youth) but neither in my opinion has shown me anything......
I reside in a prominent 3rd district neighborhood and as yet haven't even seen either one Payne or Jahn even pass by....
I'm sure Jahn is very intelligent and capable to a certain point, but how does someone who probably hasn't owned a home, or paid property taxes, set on the council and spend my money wisely. I at least want someone with some life experiences.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to Jahn. Kinda starting near the top without paying her dues.
The County Council rescinded the RCI tonight. 6-0. Regional Cities Initiative.
ReplyDeleteThe RCI or the RDA Kevin?
ReplyDeleteEither or both
