The Abraham Lincoln Bridge ....Come On.... Really ???
The BatBlog loves Abraham Lincoln and what he stood for as much as anyone...but come on... something else named after Lincoln. The state of Kentucky (and by the way what gives them the right to name the bridge) used virtually no imagination or originality in coming up with the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge. The BatBlog has found at least two other Lincoln bridges one already in Indiana and there are numerous other thing named after ole Abe. .
Reportedly KFC was lobbying for the Colonel Harlan Sanders Bridge which would have been a marketing jackpot...."It's finger lickin good"...Muhammed Ali has been over used as well and both Kentucky and Indiana seem to have a shortage of people deserving to have a bridge named after them. In actuality the Colonel Sanders Bridge doesn't sound too bad after all,,,Any better ideas ???

The "Kim Davis" bridge would have a better name.
ReplyDeleteNothing like letting people know they are surrounded by bigots.
Deletelove the new Colonel Sanders on tv
ReplyDeleteThe Bobby Knight bridge
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's cliche, but it does make sense given his roots in both Indiana and Kentucky.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Kentucky has the rights to the downtown bridge and Indiana has the rights to the east end bridge.
I believe the maintenance also goes with those rights.
Thanks for the info Bill...then I agree with Anon. the Indiana named bridge should be the Robert Montgomery Knight bridge, but it will never happen...
ReplyDeleteI thought you hated bitter old bullies?
ReplyDeleteHow about the, Moore for Moore memorial train wreck bridge?
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell did Colonel Sanders do except make greasy artery clogging food. He was not even a real Colonel. Every other jackleg in Kentucky is a Kentucky Colonel! Robert Montgomery Knight is even a worse choice. In a few years no one will even know who he is/was. He won a few basketball games and was a classic bully. Lincoln was a brilliant American who saved the Union and believed that slavery was a human travesty. Actually I'm surprised that the bridge was not named Mitch "the bitch" McConnell.
ReplyDeleteIt's finger lickin gooood !!!
