****************************************Breaking News***************************************
As predicted by the BatBlog the Jeffersonville City Council ignored public sentiment and their constituency by overwhelmingly overriding (8-1) mayor Mike Moore's veto of the 1 million dollar upgrade of the Woehrle soccer complex. Once again politics and special interest groups play a bigger influence on this council than the wants and needs of the general public who elected them. As this council has shown on a number of occasions they are inept and clueless in their decision making...

It's all about the kids.
ReplyDeleteWho was the one?
ReplyDeleteSo, the Jeffersonville taxpayers
ReplyDeleteare having to pay for a $1,000,000 DRESSING ROOM
for a Louisville "PDL" soccer team to use.....
Thank you for exposing that.
Why should the beleaguered taxpayers pay for a fancy $1,000,000 DRESSING ROOM?
The plot thickens...
Deluxe Spending Watch
ReplyDeleteThe taxpayers of Jeffersonville
have already sunk a ton of tax money into the city's fine/expensive soccer facility.
The children are VERY well served with the facility.
It is certainly not intelligent to pay for a $1,000,000 DRESSING ROOM....
The youth who go there to play pick up games, practice, or play in leagues
certainly do not need a $1,000,000 DRESSING ROOM.
Newspaper and other media reports
put the earlier soccer site spending already at over
$4,250,000 plus the yearly costs. The council/parks authority
in their CONTINUING QUESTIONABLE conflicting "dual role" has announced
plans to spend over $3,000,000 more for soccer at this site.
$1,000,000 "Dressing Room"
ReplyDelete"JEFFERSONVILLE — Completion of the Woehrle Athletic Complex will proceed despite Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore's veto of design and construction funds."
Completion?
Uh, not quite yet...
The trusty newsandtribune might want to review their own previous stories!
This incremental $1,000,000 announced expenditure is NOT the end of the council's publicly announced spending binge on the questionable soccer location.
Remember that the city council has stated publicly in the N-T their intention
to buy an additional 11 acres at $147,000 per acre ($1,617,000) located
between two railroad tracts contiguous to the site
and to then additionally build an expensive INDOOR soccer facility as well.
Many more millions have been planned to be spent
for the site.
It looks like some
CRAFTY POLITICIANS
are trying to drip, drip out the huge spending incrementally "under the radar"...
Matt, lapdog Owen
ReplyDelete8-1 doesn't say lapdog. More like "independent kid." Good job, Matt.
ReplyDeleteMatt doesn't make a move without being told to. Lapdog is a perfect description
ReplyDeleteLooks like Councilman Owen outsmarted the
ReplyDeleteother council critters and is concerned about the spending
for the $1,000,000 dressing room.....
It is a smart, independent move.
He must have changed his mind while going door to door with Moore?
ReplyDeleteYes, that dern pesky feedback from the taxpaying electorate!
ReplyDelete$1,000,000 restrooms,
$1,000,000 plants,
$100,000 median plant yearly maintenance contracts,
questionable legalities... could give a Council Critter Person
some "input" from going door to door....
;)
Looks like Owen was allowed to vote no for political gain. Happens all the time folks.
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say that I'm in favor of the soccer fields and several of my neighbors have agreed with either in person or via social media.
ReplyDeleteI know that the author and at least one commenter would have you believe that no-one is for the soccer field, but that is simply not true.
Is it a majority of citizens? I honestly don't know. But there are supporters who are very excited about this and glad to see it moving forward.
I also understand that the Jeff High soccer programs are understandably excited for the additions.
Check your figures on the million dollar restrooms, can't imagine restrooms costing more than the Big four glitzy shit hole restrooms that Moore purchased for nearly $700,000.00
ReplyDeleteI know a couple of families with kids who played soccer, and while their kids are too old to take advantage of the facility, they are still exited about it.
ReplyDeleteExcited about a playground that they won't even use? What is wrong with people today!
ReplyDeleteYes. People should only be happy about money spent on things that will benefit themselves.
DeleteThat means only 2 potholes in the entire city will be fixed and they are between my house and my job. Sorry about the rest of your all's luck.
