More on the RCI ....We Still Have Another Chance To Stop It....
In the aftermath of yesterday's vote approving the Regional Cities Iniative by the Clark Co. council one has to be dubious of the claims by several of the councilperson's that of a majority of the e-mails they received were for the Initiative. The good news is though, yet another county (Floyd) by a 5-2 vote has wisely rejected and according to reports may have doomed the plan in this area due to lack of population requirements.
The BatBlog feels the NO vote by the surrounding counties makes our own county council look rather foolish, uneducated on the issue, not caring about the wants of their constituents and playing politics instead of doing the right thing. It's no secret that several on the council at times are pretty peeved and put back at councilwoman Khuri. Ms. Khuri was a staunch believer this program wasn't right and was vocal to the point of possibly ruffling the feathers of some of her fellow councilpersons. Let's hope that this council isn't playing politics instead of doing what's best for county residents, voters, and taxpayers. as we move into the future.
Congratulations to Ms Khuri, Tina Webster and other staunch advocates who gave up their personal time to educate voters and show their feelings to voters and county councils in this area. Though they didn't get the vote desired here in Clark Co. it appears to be dead in this section of the state. If by some loophole it arises from the dead, we need to bombard the statehouse with e-mails and letters telling Pence to take his carrot elsewhere, as our area is doing just fine developing business and growth without his gimmicky plan that smells of big government and possible corruption down the road.
Hopefully in bipartisan way Democrat's, Republicans, Libertarians, and independents have arose with a common sense goal in mind and have buried this thing once and for all...

The UN Agenda 21.....Scary....
ReplyDeleteKevin V.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your time in providing the information you have given us. I have high hopes the C.C. council who has recently made good inroads and common sense decisions on fiscal problems created by earlier councils, will put this vote behind you and move on.
There are things we don't agree on but I respect your position and candor and hope you will continue to participate here...
This is the first time in a long time I have been critical of the CC. council I just feel for whatever reasons you all got this one wrong...
I forgot to mention that if New Albany and Washington County join RDA, that would give the 200,000 needed for adoption.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Washington county just loves to know they're just a population number Clark needs to obtain.
ReplyDeleteThe Fatal Conceit
ReplyDeleteWhen you boil it down, large-scale central planners fail because they believe three things that aren’t true.
First, that they know current conditions (wants, desires, hopes, capabilities, resources). In other words, that they know the exact and entire present state of the community they are planning for.
Second, that they know where the community ought to go; that is, that they know what the future ought to be.
Third, that they are capable of creating the future they want.
None of those things is more than an illusion. Together, they constitute what F. A. Hayek called “the fatal conceit that man is able to shape the world around him according to his wishes.”
http://dailyreckoning.com/why-central-planning-fails/
Central planning MIGHT work with socialism, but definitely not with capitalism.
When you mix central planning with capitalism you get crony capitalism. Period.
These businesses will now be allowed to risk taxpayer money on whatever projects the state tells us we must do.
Just like the people that tell us our Constitution is dated and is a living document, those with self interests believe they are doing good here. It will only be when they remove so much property from our tax rolls and our counties have to beg for scraps from this RDA that we will see the error of their ways in creating this mess.
You.Have.Been.Warned.
I love how you accuse government of knowing better than citizens but love to point out when you "know better " than citizens. What it really boils down to is you are anti-growth.
DeleteOne reason that our area is seeing such growth is because 2 states worked together to get the bridges built. It is pretty obvious that if the region banded together with the state we would see similar results.
And neither were required to join an RDA to accomplish it.
DeleteWell said HT.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThe bridge project was first started back in the 70's. So yes the states are doing their normal work, it only took 40 years to get it done. I was against this and I am not anti growth, I am anti outside influence. Let local people decide what is best for us. Not Indianapolis...
BullDog
Well then let's tear down those new bridges built by those evil outsiders.
DeleteNot both of them, only the downtown one only the elites ever wanted and without which tolls would be unnecessary.
DeleteI heard today that Wendy sent an email to all the regional cities supporters thanking them but basically admitting it was dead. I take that to mean either Washington Co or New Albany city has told her they will not join. She doesn't have the minimum population according to the guidelines.
ReplyDeleteIf that is the case then Clark and Scott Counties need to vote to remove themselves from the RDA and let this monster die an honorable death.
ReplyDeleteTo be clear about post above, RCI, is dead.
ReplyDeleteRDA, the evil part of all this, is still alive until someone has the good sense to bludgeon it.
UN Agenda 21. Be aware. Be alert.
ReplyDeleteIt is bad for the USA.
Very bad.
The Bat Blog has the latest veto by the mayor Of Jeffersonville over the excessive spending city council that is trying to continue to run the Park Department via the Parks Authority. Continued incursions by the Legislative Branch into the Executive Branch functions.
ReplyDeleteThe Bat Blog has followed this strange trip with the city council
ReplyDeletedealing with the council's Cheap Power Trip.
First they seize the Executive Branch function with the Parks Department,
oppose economic development projects,
and interfere with the correct everyday operation of the Executive Branch.
Next they very weirdly abolish (temporarily) the Judicial Branch,
the very successful and well operated Jeffersonville City Court.
Quite a n unusual concept of government authority
among the well defined responsibilities of the
three co=equal branches of government.
The massive spending for the "pet project" of the soccer gig is also astounding.
Hoosier Taxpayer, can you post the mayor's latest veto of the council's excessive soccer spending?
ReplyDeleteBat Blog Alert
ReplyDeleteKudos to the Mayor
for once again fighting the massive council spending at the potentially unsafe soccer site.
Millions and millions being poured into the site
and some say it is very self-centered and selfish of the council.
The pending lawsuit may reveal that the entire spending by the council has been done without a legal basis.
The mayor blocked by veto another $1,000,000 to forced into the soccer site.
2015-OR-39.
The Nine.
ReplyDeleteThe Bat Blog is watching The Nine.
Surely, the arrogant council will not try to over ride yet another wise mayoral veto of excessive spending by the council?
The mayor is leading and trying to restrain them.
Is the council not concerned for the taxpayers?
The appearance of spending so much money
at that one site is potentially a big
special
interest
embarrassment.....
How much money is being spent
by the council on soccer
compared with all
other sports?
Millions?
The pending Clark Circuit Court case is going forward soon to determine if the currently constituted Parks Authority, which features as members all nine of the
city council members, is operating legally. Some say a clear reading
of Indiana law shows they are not.
Are they afraid of a ruling?
Didn't Republican (like Moore) representative Ron Grooms fashion legislation that passed allowing the council to continue as the parks department?
DeleteSeems like many in his own party know that Moore is a moron and not one to be trusted.
"The Nine".
ReplyDelete"The Bat Blog is watching The Nine."
I like that.
Naming the Nine council persons with that handle, "The Nine",
is very expressive.
Many are wondering WHY the weird "insider" obsessive fixation with soccer to the neglect of other sports and the attachment to that potentially very dangerous site?
Millions.
We need the whole story on this.
The council won't disclose yet.
The taxpayers continue to foot the bill for millions
plus yearly high maintenance costs.
"Didn't Republican (like Moore) representative Ron Grooms fashion legislation that passed allowing the council to continue as the parks department?"
ReplyDeleteNo.
Senator Ron Grooms legislation was not applicable to Jeffersonville as a second class city at the time the council passed the sneaky power grab ordinance.
The council did not legally appoint the Parks Authority under Indiana statute
is the reading of some very intelligent attorneys.
That the council may have arrogantly erred in
its appointment of themselves to
the Parks Authority
is the concern.
Some feel that they are acting and spending
without legal authority in the massive
soccer expenditures.
Millions.
The council, which is the Legislative Branch,
should stop exercising Executive Branch functions.
Disturbing how the same poster uses different names, anonymous, jeff sports fan etc. to make issues seem more popular. It's the same one that dominated chatter. Just saying
ReplyDeleteYes, comprehending
ReplyDeletethe issues is somewhat difficult for some perennial candidates....
Did KV not say on the CCC in March that "he did not have enough information
to tell the electorate that he was not yet sure if he would support the $3,000,000-$6,000,000 additional taxpayers money added to the $4,000,000,000 to $5,000,000 already spent on the SOCCERGATE scandal.
It is long past ime to fess up. Which is it?
Yes, it certainly is DISTURBING to see
ReplyDeletethat the 'Perennial Political Candidate', KV,
that has run for the city council AND the county council AND mayor (359 votes)
strongly support the dubious line on the highly questionable
10th Street plant scandal.
That is a head scratcher for sure.
KV claims that he supports the dubious plant scandal and continued excessive cost for the 10th Street mess.
Sooo, how about the massive spending on the soccer gig?
Instead of attacking posts referencing a good, healthy debate about the issues,
isn't it enough time for a continuous politician to FINALLY make up their mind
on the big soccer spending?
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteSaville Rowe.....you were good for a while. You've been caught!
Delete
ReplyDeleteSooo, if ol KV ran for the CITY COUNCIL in 2007,
the COUNTY COUNCIL in 2008,
MAYOR in 2011 (359 votes),
the COUNTY COUNCIL again in 2012,
and now the CITY COUNCIL yet again in 2015,
it would be reasonable to assume
that he would not attack citizens asking questions
but would rather want us to know WHY he has run for so many offices and what his stand is.
Does he support the Mayor's vetoes of the excessive soccer spending
or the council's excessive spending?
Does he support the Separation of Powers Doctrine?
UH, oh...does he support the council's attempt to block the downtown growth
and does he support the CANAL?
Yea or nay on the canal?
Even Perennial Recycled Politicians
should appreciate the nifty Bat Blog interaction on the ISSUES.
2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 1015...
Saville. ........does HT know you are best buddies with TG?
DeleteI think Jeff Sports Fan does have some legitimate questions.... How does KV feel about the funding of the soccer field, the median issue and the Canal ???
ReplyDeleteI believe Kevin did speak in favor of keeping Jeff city court but I'm sure people would like to hear his views on these issues as well...
Also can Kevin put aside his feelings and work with Mike Moore if both are elected ???

I'll take the high road and not talk about the constant poster on here. It's not worth it. So long HT! You have a good forum.
ReplyDeleteBat Blog "High Road Issues Watch"
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. Answers are needed!
Not strange anger.
Soccer spending.
Plant spending.
Opposing great economic projects.
Attacking the city court.
Separation of Powers.
The Canal...!
Potential legally VOID actions on the plant spending
AND
the parks Authority spending.....
The vetoes seem very responsible.
Support ?
DA., SR, Colonel North, jeff sports fan, anonymous, etc etc you've been caught. Is there any others on here besides you?
ReplyDeletePoor Kevin in '11, strangely ranting out of control even worse than usual....
ReplyDeleteRemember that the Democrat Chair asked you to resign from the ticket?
Why was that?
That might have been helpful and gotten some of the stress
off your political mental situation.
Callie Jahn is areal up and comer in the Republican Party
and looks to be a big winner in her race.
"We feel your pain"....
Bat Blog "High Road Issues Watch"
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point.
Why is the Perennial Recycled Candidate Kevin in '11
not answering the timely questions concerning the issues?
It seems reasonable to ask him nicely to answer concerning the issues
as he has run so many times and knows how it works. Hopefully.
He seems very stressed as a candidate....
Maybe a little honesty with the voters in addressing
the serious issues that Mayor has raised would be better
for him that throwing childish fits.

Yes, that is an "unusual" compulsion to have run for so many different offices
(three) in so many years: 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015.
With that number of repeated, recycle attempts
it should be easy for any perennial candidate
to at the minimum discuss ISSUES
and tell us his positions.
Does he support the excessive soccer spending?
The 10th Street Plant Mess Scandal?
It could be that in KV's compulsion to run for so many offices,
ReplyDeletehe has decided to avoid any comprehension
of the damage done
by bad policy
decisions.
If he supports the council's terrible decisions,
he looks as unknowledgeable as they are.
If he goes against them, they won't talk to him then....
It he stands against those bad decisions, he looks bad with the voters.
Catch 22.
However, his weak attempts at obfuscation make him look even worse.
He also knows that the Clark County Republican leadership
is recruiting fresh, new capable persons to replace the old political recycles.
The Democrat Chair was right to try to get him to not run
so the Democrats could get a new, better candidate
in that 3rd District Council race.
Kevin sorry but I can't let you out the identity of posters.... so I can't print your last 2 posts. It's fine that you identify yourself but a poster is allowed anonymity if they chose so, and I respect that ....
ReplyDeleteAnyone is allowed to post as much as they like as long as it isn't libelous or slanderous or obscene. The readers can decide for themselves whether to read multiple post's. I would ask you to please not mention their real name and identity ...I cannot allow that to happen it's great you identify yourself but if people choose anonymity please respect that....
ReplyDeleteDistrict #2 voter who has envy for those who can run for office. Let's break down your immature rants.
ReplyDeleteIt was you who told Galligan to have me step aside, not run for city #3. Because your feelings were hurt, by me not supporting your jeff basketball hack job. Galligan was advised by me that my fellow democrat had signed up in the wrong district, and could not run in #3. TG never said anything after that.
I supported city court, spoke at jeff council meeting.
The Canal IS TG idea. I hope you've told him it's a bad idea. He may be unhappy with you when you have lunch with him.
Mm has made you feel wanted by allowing you to set at redevelopment. He just want your money, your vote. Foolish of you to think different.
You are forbidden to run for office in Indiana, so some jealousy I suppose.
You say I make policy. Sorry, that's mostly up to the commissioners. Legislative, executive branch. I'm just fiscal.
I hope you learned something tonight.
Ps my opponent has said she would create jobs. Let me know how I can do that. Doesn't the private sector do that?
Thanks HT for allowing me to straighten out my hater.
Let's put Kevin and Dist. 2 voter in the octagon for a "no holds barred" grudge match...Who ever loses has to take Hutt out for breakfast...
ReplyDeleteHa! Very funny HT!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather gnaw my arm off then have to eat breakfast with Hutt
ReplyDeleteKevin, Kevin....you are very delusional with that really weird response avoiding the issues involving the city races this year.
ReplyDeleteI certainly never suggested to brother TG that you should step aside.
That is inaccurate. Not my idea.
No one hates you, that is really strange.
You are trying to to believe that you are the center of the council's decisions and have inserted yourself into their defense. You are merely a candidate.
Additionally, some of the things you have posted are really strange.
"The Nine" are making the decisions, not you.
You chose to support the plant scandal
and won't reply about the soccer
scandal spending.
it would be more helpful if you would stop the weirdness and address the issues.
You will probably feel much better and that would be much healthier for you.
I have no idea what you are talking about and what policy you support,
other than you are really "in the tank" for the plants scandal.
By, the way, it is starting to look very nice on 10th Street.
I hope that you are enjoying it!
:)
Dude, try to focus, stop the animosity. and address the issues.
We "feel your pain"...

ReplyDeleteSo, KV, you posting under Dumb and Dumber?
ReplyDeleteWe knew that....
Just came down 10th Street.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking very nice where the cleanup work is starting.
Sorry, Kevin.
You have been a big advocate of that plant mess.
However, you never did say if your support the soccer millions....
How about the $1,000,000 for the dressing room?
Need more information still? The voters are waiting .
Please speak to issues.
..lol...
Also, the Clark County Auto Auction site is seeing some work.
The maturity level in here is astounding.
ReplyDeleteWashington County votes against the RDA! Will Mr. Vissing now agree that Clark County Council needs to reconvene and take back the authority they gave away on August 10th?
ReplyDeleteWe may becoming up with a plan, that may satisfy both sides of this. It depends on how the state views it. Sorry about the vagueness.
ReplyDeleteSo Kevin, has Kelly Khuri been involved in any of those conversations, or are you all ASSUMING the anti-RDA side will be satisfied? Are you actually having lawyers write something, or still basing full trust with the IEDC and 1Si folks who continually caveat that they are NOT lawyers, but still drafting ordinances and by-laws that are "recommendations"?
ReplyDeleteThank you PM for alerting me to this discussion albeit late to the game
ReplyDeleteMartina...I will answer your question...
I have not been privy to any further RDA discussion with any council members..Democrat OR Republican.
And Kevin, just who is this "we"? Please do fill me in!
Another "plan"??
Well tell the citizens all about it. Tell the citizen's representative....ME.... all about it or is it another...hmmm how should I say...oh I know, what Wendy Chesser calls "a secret", " in the dark of night" plan?
Thanks PM for calling my attention to this thread..
ReplyDeleteMartina,
No I have not been involved in any RDA discussions with ANY of the other Council Members.
Kevin,
Who is this "We"?
If this "plan" is like the RDA "plan" Ms. Chesser spoke of that was not "secret" or developed " in the dark if night" ...citizens BEWARE!
No more vagueness Kevin. It's time to REPRESENT the citizens NOT keep them in the dark.
BTW.. WIll you be attending the Budget Hearings tomorrow?
Here's the schedule Inwas sent. It is Public and all citizens are invited : beginning at 9:30 with Clerk Susan Popp, then in 15 min increments....Auditor, Purdue Extension, Public Defender, Health Dept. Surveyor, Drainage Board, Recoder.
