The BatBlog finds it curious that there were like 6 different Dem. candidates trying to caucus into the open Clark Co. council seat recently, yet nobody has stepped forward for the vacant Democrat Dist.2 Jeffersonville City Council seat opening in the fall election. Has this slot been opened to caucus ??? It's hard to believe there are no viable Dem. candidates in the whole district.
The incumbent Dist.2 councilman Rep. Ed "Moe Zastawny has served several terms but is by no means unbeatable. Especially after some questionable decisions made by the council in whole. It is no secret "Moe" Zastawny has an on going feud with Jeff mayor Mike Moore as does Dem. chairman Tom "Bulldozer" Galligan. Is there a conspiracy here ??? Is "Bulldozer" intentionally not caucusing a Dem. to run against "Moe" ??? If this is the case just one more reason Galligan needs to go as chairman of the local Democratic party, his leadership has taken Democrats to new lows and serious defeats at a much better organized and run Republican party here in Clark Co.
So he appoints over a Republican and you bash him. He doesn't for a race against a Republican and you bash him. Seems like he can't win with you.
ReplyDeleteOh that's right, you're still crying about annexation and imminent domain. Time to get over it and move on. I've recovered from surgery faster than this.
Are you sure Ed is a Republican? Why was he sitting in the Democrat booth at the county fair both times I walked by?
ReplyDeleteGalligan tries and does to a certain extent manipulate all the races, he gave Ed Z. a job when mayor. Pretty sure he won't allow anyone to run against him either
ReplyDeleteAnon.2 Ed (Moe) Z. and Sellers are both RINO's (Republicans in name only). They claim to be Rep. but hobnob with all their Dem. cronies...
ReplyDeleteSellers and Z are the two phoniest republicans in town, both got jobs from Gilligan and were puppets for him on the counsel.
ReplyDeleteI believe Pepper Cooper resides in district two and he is always looking for a way to get on a ballot or get a position without winning a election, because he can't win a election on his own. Maybe TG should put him on the ballot though he would have a snowballs chance of winning.
ReplyDeleteYour lack of denial to his point probably speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteIf your speaking of the annexation and even though both Galligan and Ed Z. were two of the big liars about it...it's no big deal. We got what we expected 1.) higher taxes 2.) None of the services supposedly required by law 3.) More idiot politicians to deal with.
ReplyDeleteSome of us were fortunate not having to hook up to the lousy ass Jeff sewer system...thank God for OPCD.... but in the end we knew it was a money grab and we were dealing with liars so all as good...
As far as "imminent domain"....there is no just thing... if Anon. means eminent domain again when your dealing with liars and thieves you get what you expect.... but Ed Z. and TG were buffoons long before annexation and eminent domain occurred ....C'est la vie...
The big Jeff machine is alive and well.
ReplyDeleteThe last day to caucus an individual in to a race to be a candidate has passed long ago. It was late June, I believe. The only situation in which a party can now appoint a candidate to fill a vacancy on a ballot is if the party's already chosen candidate dies.
ReplyDeleteThanks anonymous I thought that was the case....wasn't sure about the date though. My guess is that Galligan never explored any opportunity to caucus in a candidate to run against Ed Z. and to me the duty of a good party chair is to find capable candidates to fill out a slate.
ReplyDeleteThat's a "good" party chair ...Galligan is piss poor chair who even when he held office was despised by a large faction of voters. A good chair has the ability to bring all members together in a common goal of success, it must be someone generally liked who can compromise for the general good of the party....Galligan never has and never will have the smarts or personality to bring Dem.s together as has been shown by recent elections, but he is too arrogant and self absorbed to step down and let someone better qualified do the job...
Galligan is more than qualified. The previous poster is correct, he did find a good and capable candidate in Sellersburg, and you killed him.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that you probably don't like him for reasons previously posted (annexation wasn't actually him, but he often is blamed) and just continue to blast him.
When he was originally elected (1995?) Jeffersonville was about 20-30 behind the times. Galligan strapped a rocket to our ass and got us caught up (or close to anyway). Then the miserable failure that Waiz was happened and we started to stagnate. Again, Galligan was elected, and he started to move us forward. Then annexation took effect, which is good for Jeffersonville, and a bunch of cry babies went to the polls and elected an idiot. Moore is actually everything you say about Galligan and more, but you tend to give him a pass.
I understand that Jeffersonville is an older community and that every time you so much as fix a pothole about a third of the grandparents think to themselves "wasting my tax dollars. Who's buddy lives here. " The simple fact is Jeffersonville doesn't really like progress. The citizens would prefer you do nothing and then they could tell themselves that they saved a few bucks and that makes them feel better.
I prefer growth and progress, and the fact of the matter is, we are not getting that with the current administration. Hopefully that changes in November.
Great Post ^^^^^^ True in every way ^^^^^
DeleteHe doesn't need to worry about caucusing new democrats when he can get the republicans to do what he wants, and that doesn't just apply to district 2 in Jeffersonville.
ReplyDeleteThe TG fan is delusional if anything Galligan put Jeff 20 years behind times. His F_ _ _ ups are legendary and cost taxpayers millions of dollars. His one accomplishment besides making a lot of money for his son's company is restaurant row.
ReplyDeleteFalse statements ^^^^^^
Deletesee what i mean about just thinking about money?
ReplyDeleteTG was very much behind annxation.
ReplyDeleteTG fans can't fairly bitch about Rob and Mike taking credit for TG projects and also try to disown unpopular TG projects that happened to come to a vote during someone else's administration, especially when that someone vetoed TG's unpopular project.
Annexation was Galligan's butt-ugly baby.
It was very good for Jeffersonville and a smart move by that council. (And I live in the annexed area)
DeleteLove him or hate him there is no question that Galligan's leadership has taken the democratic party to a record low point in county elections.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Galligan has at least one fan.
