Quick Thoughts on This and That ...

The Oregon Protesters - Just leave them alone they just want attention, left alone with just themselves they'd be gone in a heartbeat...Like being with your in-laws for a week...you'll do anything to get away...

GOP Presidential Candidates - Other than Rubio, Bush and Christie a bunch of Whacko's, but the far right loves the Wackos Trump, Cruz, and Rand Paul...scary...

Donald Trump -  Seriously you have to question the intelligence of the GOP rank and file  if  "The Donald" is chosen as their candidate. He is entertaining but he's flip flopped on every issue and makes up stuff just for attention but it appears GOP voters are buying into it....

Fisherman's Wharf - Excellent job on the new docks on the Jeff riverfront...the aesthetics are a huge improvement and the pier along the river for fishermen is cool...

Obama -  Gas is half of what it used to cost, I still have my guns and bought a couple more while he was in office, my stock portfolio is up, anybody who wants a job can get one. I haven't used Obamacare but heard it's not bad.....What's there to complain about ???  I still say race has a lot to do  with his haters....

Far East - These people have been fighting since time began, they have nothing else to do. We (U.S.) just stirred things of up when we brought Sadaam Hussein down...

  1. On the Oregon protestors: they've done a great service to the literary world in inspiring Oregon Protestor Homoerotic Fan Fiction. Good hot-meets-hilarious stuff.

  2. LOL Not too well this week but overall it has done fairly well the last 7 Obama years...

I don't think Obama is the greatest by any means but comparatively things have been pretty good...but from the far right you would think his presidency has been a disater and there is a lot of hate directed toward him sadly enough...

  3. Pretty good.....

Using the IRS against his enemy's.
Using the Justice dept. to promote racism.
Using the Justice dept. to sell arms to Mexican cartels.
Lying about the reason for ambassadors dying in Benghazi.
Refusing to stand up to terrorists because of his religion.
Placing a climate change agenda above the needs of the country.
Forcing a failed health care plan on the public, fining them if they don't participate.

    Yea, Pretty good......

  4. The Oregon Protesters – Totally agree and they need to be removed…

GOP Presidential Candidates - Other than Rubio and Cruz are my main choices and I feel they would be great Presidents.

Donald Trump - I can explain his appeal very simply. In this over politically correct word we now live in, conservatives have been told for years now to shut as we are racist and just about every other negative comment you can think of. He is like that coworker that cannot take it anymore and just explodes for 15 minutes on the boss saying everything you always wanted to say. Do I think he will win, No once the actually primary’s start he will slowly fade away? He is our voice of anger and for some a relief.

Fisherman's Wharf – very cool and nice looking forward to using it and the downtown improvements.

Obama - Gas is only half of what it was due to Fracking, which Obama opposed. The Market has been a mixed bag Real weekly earnings are up 1.7 percent, thanks in part to a plunge in gasoline prices. Corporate profits have nearly tripled, and stock prices have soared in some sectors. On the other hand, the number of Americans receiving food stamps remains 45 percent higher than when the president first took office, and the rate of home ownership has dropped by 3.2 percentage points, to the lowest point in nearly 20 years.

The average premium for a benchmark “silver” health plan in the Obamacare marketplaces rose only 2 percent this year, and consumers had more plans from which to choose. But the tax penalty for going without insurance will double. All of people lost their coverage as employers have decided to drop people from full time to part time.

As a social worker I can tell you his good intention has back fired, as people are working the same amount of hours, but now have to get two jobs to get those hours, which means part time and no benefits.

Obama’s foreign policy has been a mess and he has shown no progress on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the United States' continued low standing in the Muslim world, deepening frictions in U.S.-Pakistani relations, a Mexico awash in drugs and violence, an Iran still bent on acquiring the means to produce and deliver nuclear weapons, and a North Korea still developing its nuclear arsenal.

Obama has done more to damage race relations then I could ever imagine. According to a New York Times/CBS News poll, six in ten Americans think that race relations are generally bad, and four in ten think they are getting worse. What's most striking is that majorities of both black and white respondents said race relations were poor. His quick call to say things happened because of race has only led to inflame feelings. I do not care for the president due to his extreme liberal agenda not because or race.

Middle East: Yes they have been fighting Christians for hundreds of years. No Kicking Saddam Hussein did not make us a target for extremist, as we were already on the list. There are to many to list but here is a good link.

  5. Thanks Riverfool for the thoughtful, good post. I disagree on some of your points, Obama in particularly but feel you are right on about Trump, Oregon etc.. Of the GOP candidates I think Rubio has the best chance of being elected, he seems more down to earth as is Bush but I feel Bush doesn't have a chance as the public just doesn't warm up to him...

  6. Woo all of your points are debatable. I'll try later when I have more time to address them individually but thanks for posting them and I'd be curious of your thoughts on the GOP candidates...

  7. Thanks HT, I kinda of believe what my mother said. I have my opinion about his actions and you have yours and the truth is somewhere in between.

  8. Every president since George Washington has scandals and accusations thrown at him from the opposing political side. Kennedy (Bay of Pigs) Reagan (Iran-Contra) Bush (No WMD's in Iraq) The list goes on and on no president is immune from political innuendo of wrong doings.

Woo's list is made of of primarily of political conjecture and conspiracy theories. The average "Joe Plumber" of the U.S. could really give a rat's ass about foreign policy, who sells guns to who, how to handle terrorism or who's to blame for what.

Obama hasn't been the great unifier some expected, the jury is still out on Obamacare but the things Joe the Plumber cares about prices , jobs, how far his money will go Obama has been pretty good with.

He will never get any credit from the far right but that is expectable. All in all his performance has been rated so-so and I think historians will rate him somewhere in the middle as well and substantially better than G.W. Bush ...JMO

  9. One last thing... with the political climate what it is and the candidates available there is no doubt in my mind if he was eligible for re election he would be reelected again...

  10. How has anything Obama has done affected gas prices?
Does he get credit just because he is in office?

I guess we should also credit him with the sun rising each day?

    1. Woo.....funny you would say that about Obama, when Moore gets credit because he's in office. Can't have it both ways, although I agree about your performance of King Obama!

  11. Fairly or unfairly things good or bad that happen during one's presidency are credited to him. If progress and conditions improve or worsen during their terms that too determines the legacy of a president, as does his election record...

As I said before the far right is too myopic to ever give credit to anything Obama has done. Personally ever one has an opinion but in the end historians rate presidents by their accomplishments and by what I have read Obama stands up pretty well in that regard, especially compared to his predecessor

  12. Every last comment that woo makes is an out and out lie -- it's a crock of crap man-- and created by the GOP deciders to create a meme, a hate Obama meme.
The facts are quite different about how this 8 years has gone vs the previous 8 years and no amount of misinformation can reverse that.

  13. The President will stand up exceptionally well historically!!

And he would definitely be re-elected if he could run for a 3rd term...There isn't one person running on either side that could defeat him.

  14. As far as gas prices go, the truth of the matter is both W and Obama get credit. Bush with his policies that increased oil production and Obama with his policies to improve automobile efficiency.

Sometimes both sides have good ideas that can benefit the people.

The climate change agenda is a lie?

  16. Dear Anonymous:

Understand that this is just my opinion, but here is my issue with Obama on Race Relations. For as long as I can remember POTUS has always stayed above issues and only gave his opinion on matters after finding all the facts out and then giving his opinion. Obama has failed to do that so many times here are the examples:

In July 2009, when black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. was arrested in front of his Cambridge home after antagonizing police, Obama, despite admitting that he had not seen "all the facts," still came to the conclusion that "the Cambridge police acted stupidly."

The Trayvon Martin case is one of the most visible examples of this asThe Eric Holder-led Justice Department's Community Relations Service (CRA) was sent to Sanford, FL to help set up meetings and organize protests. Among other services, the administration arranged an escort for college students participating in a 40-mile march to "demand justice" for Trayvon. When the situation erupted, Obama then famously took the racial motif national, saying, "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon."

On August 14, 2012, Vice President Joe Biden told a largely black audience in Danville, Virginia, that Republicans wanted to "put y’all back in chains.”

Fugerson was another prime example,The Obama administration’s only response to the shooting of Michael Brown and the subsequent riots should have been to state that judgment should wait until all facts were out and to offer necessary support to local and state authorities to stop the violence. The Justice Department should have done its job – which is to say, investigating the case without biasing it and ensuring that police did not violate civil rights of protesters. Instead, the Obama administration jumped with both feet into the controversy – and, in the process, helped exacerbate tensions in Ferguson.

President Obama sent White House aides to Brown’s funeral. Holder went to Ferguson himself. After months of investigation, the grand jury found that Brown’s shooting was entirely justified; months after that, the Department of Justice acknowledged that the grand jury was correct.

So as you can see I firmly believe Obama's Actions of lets call it Racism before finding out the truth has hurt race relations.

Here is a NY Times Poll that enforces this thought. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/07/23/us/race-relations-in-america-poll.html?_r=0

As if you wouldn't have been blaming him if it really got up $6 like the Republicans said it would be if he were elected.
