I've Seen Enough of 60 Days In....How About Dancing With the Sheriff ???

The BatBlog finally got around to watching several episodes of 60 Days In, the reality series filmed in the Clark Co. jail. For those who haven't seen it a little advice...Don't waste your time, it's phony as hell and frankly boring as hell too...

Like most all reality series it's scripted and staged to try and create drama. The cameras and camera crew are always on and the inmates know it, so while there is an occasional fight and raw language nothing I've seen is that shocking or even interesting for that matter.

The word about the supposed "every day citizens" placed into the facility is already leaking out, they are not who they pretend to be. The lesbian cop really isn't a cop at all, she had a short stint in law enforcement 15 years ago. The supposed teacher is more of an actor as is the homemaker mom who attempt to get their 30 minutes of fame on reality shows.

From what I've seen there is nothing in these episodes that is embarrassing to the community as was feared initially. Actually the most embarrassing thing is that the Clark Co. sheriff  Jamey Noel could be duped into participating along with sidekick Scottie Maples. It may end up having our supposed top law enforcement officials look like clowns for being part of this.

These pods being filmed are for mostly low level small time thugs, drunks and hustlers, the really bad guys are isolated away from this general population. Jail time is boring and this  show proves it ...the only drama is trying to make these impostors they have thrown in jail seem real...

If Noel and Maples want to be reality stars they should have chosen Dancing With the Stars at least it's half way credible...or maybe even created their own show "Dancing With the Sheriff"...

  1. Absolutely agree with you 110%. This show does nothing except make Noel and Maples look like total clowns. It is trash TV -- nothing less. Shame on Noel for doing this.

  2. They don't even try to make it look unscripted. Robert, the one everybody wants to get his ass kicked. Zac, the Marine none of those scumbag inmates better mess with or we'll all get to cheer him on as he opens a can of whoop-ass. And the only way for Hollywood Noel to find out what was REALLY going on in there was to call up A&E and pitch a reality show to them. Give us a break. What kind of rubes do they take us for?

  3. It puts me to sleep, it's mostly interviewing the so called plants away from the jail, talking how tough they are.

  4. Noel sees himself as like that Sheriff Joe from Arizona I forgot his last name.

  5. I thought with Noel's state police background, he would be a no nonsense, go by the book and quietly do his job as the county's top law enforcement officer. He said he would give up his party chairman's job which he hasn't.

I can't believe with the reputation of reality shows he was gullible enough to sign on to what is frankly a joke and a farce in his supposed effort to clean up the jail. If this is the way he intends to do his job...then we need to look elsewhere in 3 years when he runs for reelection.

We need a law enforcement officer not a TV reality star....

  8. I think you are on to something ht. A Clark County version of dancing with the stars. Think of the possibile matchups. Moore and Sellers, Vicki Conlin and Judge Pierce fantastic!

  10. What Trackrat said...If this is the best way a veteran law enforcement officer can find to search out what's wrong and corrupt in his jail, God help us all.

And true, it's one of two things...Either Noel's intellect is perhaps not what it should be or he thinks ours is in question.

    1. Very well said..... I wonder how all the other clean jails in America do it? Ya know, without a reality tv contract and all. He had the responsibility of doing this job and decided to pass it on to small-time actors all in the name of publicity. Nothing more. Nothing less. Two and a half years left give or take? Let the countdown begin....

  11. Those who think these people are volunteers are sadly mistaken. What A&E won't tell you is the so called voluntary participants are paid and paid well for their roles. Call it what you want but these actors, which is what they are, are participating for the money and the opportunity a little bit of fame this could bring them.

There are several of these so called reality stars who have made a lot of money after their appearances on these type shows. If you act outlandish, controversial and with a lot of personality you could cash in and that is what is driving the participants.

Shocking and sad for CC that Noel didn't know or see this.

  12. My opinion of our new sheriff is now in the toilet! Noel should hang his head in shame -- he should insist this be taken off the air immediately. Would love to see the contract he signed with A&E --- just how much is the jail getting for all of this or perhaps Noel & Maples personally???

  13. Yeah Noel's skating on thin ice, he won the sheriff's race with far less than a majority of the votes. He was a polarizing figure to begin with and this show sure won't win him any votes...I wonder if the contract would accessible under the open records provision of government ??? Anyone ???

  14. File an open records request and ask for it. See what they say. Make them squirm

  16. Let's be honest if the drug problem is so great...there are only 2 ways of drugs getting in, either through the inmates and their visitors or the jail staff. The staff and guard's responsibility is to make sure by searching that drugs don't get in, so if they are they aren't doing their jobs.

I know inmates are slick and conniving but with all the cameras and what about using some drug sniffing dogs, you would think it could be held under control.

And what is it with the electronic cigarettes ??? Why are these allowed ???

This is jail if you want to smoke stay out of trouble...

  17. Visits are via video monitor. The inmates don't leave their pods for them or have any contact with the visitors.

  18. Is there anybody reading this that thinks this whole endeavor is in any way a good thing for our community? Is there any upside to this at all? Beyond furthering Noel's television career that is.

  19. Noel better have a second career in mind, for him to sign on to reality TV with it's credibility issus is frankly embarrassing for the community and could hasten his replacement...
