Banning Chickens in Jeffersonville....

Confiscated illegal, alien chickens...
Seems like the Jeffersonville City council is having a tough time deciding whether or not to ban chickens from Jeffersonville. An ordinance to ban chickens along with  roosters, turkeys, guineas, ducks, geese ,pigeons and peacocks failed to pass at the last council meeting.

The BatBlog doesn't know what some members the council have against our feathered friends. HT and the BatBlog really enjoy chickens and turkeys....especially roasting over a hot grill. We need our roosters to wake us up in the morning, ducks are cute  and how in the world can you ban pigeons they just show up. We can't remember the last time  we saw a peacock strutting down Court Ave....and we don't even know what the hell a guinea is.

You would think the council would have better things to do then pick on our aviary neighbors and their owners. There are all ready to many restrictions and bureaucracy... are we going to create a chicken police force to detain and deport illegal chickens and water fowl ???

What will happen to Goliath's chicken market a Jeffersonville landmark ??? The BatBlog encourages everyone to march on City hall and demand  the city council to  Save our Chickens !!!

  1. Jeffersonville Chicken Wars
The rumor in the Clark County Halls of Power
is that Goliath has retained the GSL to fight this blatant attack
on maintaining fowl, eggs, and the consumption of tasty fowl!

    Chickens have rights too
and Goliath is rumored to have run
a very lucrative black market off the books chicken
    sales bid-ness Downtown for years.......

This a guv-mint overreach and an outrage!

    Resist!
    We shall overcome!

  2. Yes Goliath's black market of some what fresh chickens is well known (alley behind Olde Town Grocery) by locals. This proposed ordinance could put an end to a tradition much like Schimpf's candy...Hopefully better judgement will prevail, contact your city councilperson and protest this atrocity on our feathered friends...

  3. No one told me this was going to be on the agenda. I'm very disappointed in my district rep.
Did they say anything about porcupines?

  4. Porcupines still welcome in Jeff...it appears some members of this council only have issues with birds of a feather...

    1. True! The city council could much better spend its time on these invasive destructive moles instead of being persnickety about chickens and eggs.

  8. This ordinance shouldn't pass, absolutely ridiculous! These clowns who call themselves politicians are nothing more than a bunch of sharp dressed street rats much like any other politician who only cares for themselves and their pockets, ok enough with my rant about dirty politicians now back to the topic lol. Chickens do taste good lol, chickens are great for the yard, they tend to take care of those pesky insects that none of us like, they lay eggs which I eat, most of the time their soft spoken, and they even behave better then some people's children so before we get the pitchforks and torches out let the feathered society stay and prosper! Chickens we support you, if you are a chicken and have been wrongfully discriminated against please contact our law office and we will represent you. "Disclaimer no feathered animal was harmed in the making of this comment"

  11. Porcupines are currently illegal under some exotic pet prohibitions. I trusted Mr. White to address this travesty. He's banning tick-eating, egg-laying chickens instead? Shame.

I look forward to his atonement and statement in full support of all God's creature.

  12. This was presented to the council. They did not just think it up. I believe it was voted down. Maybe you should go after the person responsible for attempting to get it passed in the first place. Just a thought.

  13. Comey thread moved down the page, on the day Comey actually testifies in the Senate... all for chickens. I love chickens, used to have a bunch, but I don't care for the way these blog posts are arranged. For real.

  14. Jeffersonville's Chicken Wars vs Comey's Really Bad Day!

The 'Comey Swamp Fake News Drama' bombed badly.

The 'Ban the Chicken Wars' thingy is much
    more relevant and
    interesting.
Even CNN and PMS-NBC are off it.
    The dreaded 'Trump Derangement Syndrome'
is a serious malady, but the haters will
just have live with it for eight more years.

    Now,
this here dern nefarious 'Chicken/Fowl Ban Op'
by the city council has to be dealt with....

Good job covering this Chicken War by Hoosier Taxpayer!
