Jeffersonville's 10th and Spring Project...

One of the BatBlog's readers inquired about an update on the 10th and Spring (gateway area) project(s). Maybe Mayor Moore will give us any planning and potential projects that may be in the works. The BatBlog is unaware of anything happening right now.

A couple of earlier proposed deals have been cancelled...these things happen, developer financing falls through, parties have differing ideas, this is not uncommon. Cooperation and what works best for the city is what is most important.

The BatBlog feels a grand, huge project isn't totally necessary as this potentially could create traffic concerns but we will leave it up to Mayor Moore and his team to decide. Their planning has so far in his term  been impeccable and the rapid progress and growth of Jeffersonville's amenities, jobs, housing options and retail shopping is unparalleled in Jeff's history.

It's not how quick or soon this "gateway" project get's done it's making sure it's the right fit for the new Jeffersonville....

  2. So let's get this straight...there was a deal Hutt helped mess up. Then there was a other one. Has that deal tanked? There is a developer's sign at that location now.

  3. Jeffersonville is Booming!
    The newandtribune.com
    had a detailed article
on the project and the work
that the city is involved in with at the site.
The larger projects in the east are actually in some "Jeffersonville
area economic competition" with the downtown site and the slowing of
in brick and mortar retail destination construction
projects nationwide is also an impact.
However, the N-T has reported on the site and the city's
    current development plan for 2020.

Whatever happened to that Hutt guy anyway? Has he disrupted anything lately?

  4. I have a meeting Wednesday with the developer, (Hogan). They are well respected and established firm in the southern Indiana/Louisville market. I don't expect to learn of any tenants until those tenants have signed an agreement. I expect the property will become home to a nice sit down Restaurant, a couple of fast food choices, a little retail, possibly an office park and possibly a hotel.

We are pursuing a mid size grocer for that end of town as well, but have repeatedly been told in order to land that we need more residential housing in downtown.

  5. I don't particularly think a hotel is necessary. A couple of nice restaurants, coffee shops and just a nice look entering the city will be sufficient IMO. There is so much going on in the east end this project would round out just a really successful makeover of Jeffersonville...

  7. Meeting went well. I know we're all anxious to see the development, getting it right, is more important then getting it built. Jeffersonville is headed in the right direction.
