Galligan to step down as local Democratic chair person...
************************************************************************************
First of all congratulations to all the candidates last night, for the most part it was a clean, well run election. While are system is at times flawed it's still the best in the world, and the people have spoken. A lot of interesting races, results ,and upsets make this an election for the ages here in Clark Co.,that's unless of course your a Democrat. Love him or hate you have to give Jamey Noel credit, he has led the Rep. party to unprecedented levels here in it what used to be overwhelmingly Democratic county. Slick political maneuvering, shrewd moves and an influx of new, young, energetic and attractive candidates the GOP has left local Democrats wondering what happened and left to pick up the pieces. You have to wonder in the sheriff's race how much the split ticket propelled Noel to victory. 37% of the vote isn't much of a mandate and you have to think Meyer would have won without Spainhour's candidacy....but that's politics and Congratulations to Mr. Noel....
As far as the Democrat's here locally they need to step back and start from scratch are it's only going to get worse. The blame starts at the top and the local Dem. party chair Tom Galligan whose divisiveness and arrogance are just not the qualities you look for in a party leader. For years now Dem.s have turned their back on the rank and file voter by the Dem. caucus, that has placed old has been candidates like Perkins and Galligan into positions they would have no chance of obtaining by a popular vote of the rank and file. This along with some severe behavioral and criminal actions of several Dem. office holders and candidates and it's small wonder people have abandoned the Dem. party in Clark Co. in droves. For probably the first time in history straight party t voting by the GOP exceeded Dem. locally....
It's time to give Galligan a plaque thanking him for his service and search for a young enthusiastic party chair who can relate to the younger voters, something Galligan can't. Some one like Noel who is a tireless worker and planner ,who can recruit new, vitalized , younger candidates who can lead the party into the future. This isn't 1990's anymore and if the party caucus continues to hang onto the has beens from that era....you're going to see an even further erosion of Democrats here in the county. Hell even some of the more popular good Democratic candidates like Susan Popp got caught up the Rep. beatdown inflicted upon what for years was the dominant force here.
As far as Noel's sheriff win, Jamey has shown he is a shrewd, capable , hardworking politician who has nurtured and cultivated an attractive mixed slate of candidates with great success. Now it's time to use your administrative skills to clean up the Co. jail and bring respect back to the sheriff's dept.and the people's trust, and on that endeavor we wish you luck....
This week more analysis and comments on yesterday's election..
Thanks for viewing...yesterday over 1200 page views
There are many respectable police officers in the jail. They've been there all along. Jamey won't be bringing that "back" to the jail....it's already there. Please don't tarnish the decent, hardworking police officers putting their lives on the line every day by insinuating that they aren't bringing professionalism to their work each and every day.
ReplyDeletePlease point out where I said anything about there not being any "hard working, respectable" police officers as your comments insinuate. Certainly there are....
ReplyDeleteThere is also rampant drug usage in the jail that needs to be cleaned up. The shame and non professionalism has been well documented and we all know the names, places and where it came from...
You're barking up the wrong tree if you think I'm "insinuating" in any there aren't professional hard working officers....but there are some that aren't and problems Noel needs to clean up...
Well said HT. Unfortunately, the reputation of the Clark County Govt. is and has been tarnished for some time even though not everyone within it has contributed nor has been culpable. Regardless, it is time to overcome this stigma and enforce accountability and zero tolerance so as to distinguish those who are respectable, professional and most importantly who demonstrate high standards of integrity and ethics.
ReplyDelete"Now it's time to use your administrative skills to clean up the Co. jail and bring respect back to the sheriff's dept."
ReplyDeleteYou DID insinuate that there aren't professional, hard working officers. You've done it every single time you connected Rodden's past mistakes to Meyer.
Mr. Noel is NOT the person to make the police department look good. Anyone who is hated enough to have fliers posted all over Clark County is just another scandal waiting to happen. This is not a liked guy.
Also, I would tell you you're an idiot for telling Meyer supporters to vote for Spainhour. All together now........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This guy is a waste of ink on a ballot. If I had any inkling that someone actually took you seriously I would blame Meyer's loss on you. However, you have shown yourself to have NO CLUE when it comes to realistic expectations. I'll be at Gawnews if you need me. Do yourself a favor and try and be more like him. You steal his material enough...maybe try actually copying his intellect.
Try and read this real slow Anon. and MAYBE you can comprehend."Cleaning up the Clark Co. jail" refers to the drug problem not the officers, dumbass....
ReplyDeleteAnd if it eases your mind that you think I'm referring to the officers , knock your lights out...Go up on the Big Four bridge and shout it out for the world to hear ...put it on the CCC I don't give a rat's ass what you do or think...
As for Mr. Noel like him or not he's a hell of a politician and we'll find out how good of a sheriff he is...
I did support Spainhour, I thought he was the best man for the job that was my choice as thousands of others, that's how the system works...
If it makes you feel better blame me for Meyer's loss ...whatever floats your boat...Yell that from the top of the bridge as well..
Finally dumbass..I'm sorry your man lost maybe if your man Tom "hasn't got a clue" Galligan the party chair had gotten off his ass and tried to get Spainhour and Meyer to compromise and one not run, then Meyer might have won...but he didn't ,they both ran and the rest is history....that's politics, but I do have a lot of respect for all three gentlemen
So after you get your head out of your ass, take your crying towel and the horse you rode in on go over to GAW and don't let the door hit you in the ass....
Angry much Anonymous...You are right about HT, the Clark County Sheriff's Office has only top notched deputies and there has never been any scandal at the Jail. Well Except Rodden and no one else...Well there was Chuck Adams.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous I think you need to step back and separate road officers from Jail officers. The Jail is over run with drugs, ask anyone who has been there. There are other issues as well... I wish Jamie Noel good luck in his new position.
Actually I'm a nice guy,and I respect everyone's opinion. But I'm not going to let some dumbass come on her and tell me what I'm insinuating, when he's dead wrong. I don't insinuate nothing I say what feel. If you don't like it find a new blog, try the CCC...
ReplyDeleteIn reality I like bantering with dumb asses that's why the Big Q threw me off the CCC...
They could start cleaning up the drug problem by gaining control of the trustee situation. They need to enact strict controls over who has access to the trustees. According to some inmates, its not the trustees who bring the contraband in the jail.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Anon. is one of those good old boy democratic diehards who sees his world crumbling around him.
ReplyDeleteAs a former correction officer who worked inside s jails/prisons for 11 years I can tell you that 10% of contraband is inmates and 90% percent is from officers, either by physically bringing it in or ignoring others bringing it in.
ReplyDeleteThe Anonymous boasting about all the "respectable' officers doesn't get out much. Check the Evening News the last couple of years lots of arrests of Sheriff's department employees. Domestic violence, drunken driving, buying illegal drugs etc. Beyond Rodden and Adams there is a lot of other serious issues that needs cleaning up.
ReplyDeleteNoel outworked Galligan and the results are apparent. While Jamey was out campaigning all Galligan did was attended all the campaign breakfasts lunches and dinners.
ReplyDeletePeople walk in and out of the sheriff's office freely everyday. Everyone in town has the password to the back door! Lawyers, trustees, former trustees, every officer on every police department, courthouse employees, every person that has ever worked there has the password. Why? Because Rodden allowed it. The guards out front sit and read while waving everyone through. I have even been told by employees there that they don't have to clock in and out. The new sheriff needs to come in and run it like he owns it! Lots of work to do. I am sure there are some good employees there, although more reason to weed out the bad. That's how you restore pride and reputation!
ReplyDeleteI think the only time clock in the county is in the community corrections office. Maybe all county employees should be required to use a time clock
ReplyDeleteI also hope that Mr. Noel puts as much hard work into being Sheriff as he has at getting himself, and the Republicans he agrees with, elected. I will give credit where it is due. He does know how to play the game and he does it well. How much of that will translate into being a great Sheriff? Only time will tell. It is my hope that he does turn out to be a great Sheriff. It's up to him now to prove all his detractors wrong. For all of our sakes.
ReplyDeleteEvery county employee should be on a time clock. Absolutely.
ReplyDeleteWith Mr. Noel being so close to the governor a lot of people though he would have already been in Indy to assist him in any of his needs...but I guess he's needed in Clark county to bring the repub. party up to snuff for the next campaign. One can only wait for the other shoe to drop..moving on up to the big house...
