Thinking of a mayoral run ??? |
The unparalleled growth recently has brought Jeff to new levels of prosperity and stature not only in the east end where retail and commercial development and jobs are soaring... but also a downtown that is bustling with new amenities, restaurants, brew houses, and future retail and residential opportunities.
One would think and rightfully so that mayor Moore would be untouchable in 2019 when the next mayoral race will take place. At this time Moore would have to be an overwhelming favorite if he should choose to continue forward into a third term. That doesn't mean there aren't others on the local political scene that don't have eyes toward mayor's office in the near future and beyond...
Topping the list and The BatBlog has sources that say fellow Rep., former city councilperson and current Clark Co. Commissioner Connie Sellers is weighing her options as far as entering a primary race against Moore. It is no secret there is no love lost between Sellers and Moore and unseating him would probably be tops on her political wish list...
Sellers like Moore has been a popular vote getter in the local political scene serving several terms on the Jeff city council and defeating incumbent and popular Rick Stephenson in the last GOP primary for a C. C. commissioner slot, then sailing on to victory in the general election...She along with Ed "Moe" Zastawny and Mike "Mr. Green Jeans" Smith were particularly thorns in Mayor Moore's agenda during his first term as mayor... as they served together on a council that was reeling from the defeat of Tom "Bulldozer Galligan in the 2011 mayoral contest. Despite the three Stooges' early attempts at obstruction, Mayor Moore's ideas and leadership have brought Jeffersonville to historic levels with a promising future.
Our sources say the only thing holding Sellers back from a run at the mayoral slot is Moore's success and popularity during his terms of unprecedented growth. Ego and revenge sometimes clouds political judgement so the question is Will she or won't she ??? Stay Tuned...
Coming soon Part II...The Others
Sellers has been popular with voters, but can't believe Noel would let two star candidates face off against each other.
ReplyDeleteNoel can suggest them not running against each other but their stature as proven winners pretty much puts them beyond his control...
DeleteHe can manipulate the weaker candidates and withhold support monetarily and politically but that isn't the case with either Moore or Sellers. They can provide campaign support for themselves with or without him...
Sellers is more likely to listen to Galligan than Noel. She's a RINO
DeleteIt would be interesting but Mike has proven himself over 6 years now. You don't put a guy out for doing a good job. Connie should stay as a county commissioner. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMike Moore is doing an excellent job for Jeffersonville as mayor.
ReplyDeleteSellers may or may not actually covet that job, but Mayor Moore
is way too strong for her.
Noel wanted Stephenson out as a commissioner
and very adroitly maneuvered Sellers off the council
and into the commissioner's slot.
Wasn't it just soooo miraculous that Stephenson got his Christmas surprise
on Spring Street?
Galllgan had a good deal going on the air board and supported Sellers' move to commissioner as they have been close.
Galligan did not give Jack Coffman Democrat opposition
in his re-election for county commissioner.
Tom protected his gig with the air board, but the powers in Indianapolis had other ideas. Sellers and Zawstawny are close to former Mayor Galligan and are part of the old Galligan coalition that they put together long ago.
Sellers is doing a good job as a county commissioner.
She is fine where she is in that important leadership position.
Noel is an amazing county chairman.
There is historically a loooong list of perennial 'wannabe mayors'
salivating for the job,
but Mayor Moore is very popular
and is working very successfully
for Jeffersonville's
awesome future.
The next perplexing question is: "How does the current 'leadership'
of the Democrat Party ever revitalize the party
that is in such disarray?"
2018, 2019, and 2020 and beyond look VERY bleak for the D's......
They are not relating to the public at all
and there only ability seems to be
"grinning from floats in parades".......

that one PESTY FLANNIGAN is considering a run
for Mayor in the Democrat Party in 2019.
Sources close to the world traveler,

Sellers is among the worst possible choices for mayor. One of the current threats to growth in Jeff is the impulse to control everything. There is reason to worry on that front some now given the current planning & zoning director's tendencies, but Sellers would ramp it up 100 times over. She is a control freak that would plan, zone, tax and ordinance away anything cool or innovative.
ReplyDeleteThat and she'd let Galligan bulldoze and buy anything he wants.
Hmmmm....Was one of the planes at the CC Airport?

Mayor Mike Moore will win next term easily and then Steve Stemler takes over. Jeffersonville has a very bright future.

Connie Sellers in not considering running for mayor.
ReplyDeleteThe BatBlog stands behind it's sources and the story. Her consideration for running is dampened by the fact that Moore with the continued growth and progress in Jeff and his successful leadership makes him virtually unbeatable...which she is well aware of.....
Delete"The Bat Blog stands behind it's sources and the story."
ReplyDeleteThe Bat Blog was pimped.
"Connie Sellers in not considering running for mayor."
As way things stand at this time no way Sellers is going to admit it hasn't crossed her mind and been considered. According to sources "If the political climate changed and Moore's popularity dropped for any reason, She's in."
ReplyDeleteSellers has pimped you...
ReplyDeleteNow that the Sellers' non-controversy is settled....what about bro Pesty?
