I thought it had no way of becoming true but there is a fair chance that Donald J. Trump "The Donald" becomes the next president of the U.S.
His candidacy seemed so far fetched and gimmicky in the beginning that nobody took him seriously until just recently. No matter... he's for real now...and while it's still only midway through the campaign I can see under certain circumstances were Trump can be elected president.
The Donald has found a niche core of fed up mostly blue collar voters, tired of nothing but political squabbling and gridlock between the two parties.with nothing being accomplished in Washington These voters tired of the decline of good paying manufacturing jobs due in part to a huge trade imbalance and politicians in general have rebelled against the establishment.
The stodgy GOP establishment hate "The Donald" and that along with Trump's tough guy, "tell it like it is", politically incorrect attitude and rhetoric has only fueled the Trump rebellion even more. His followers love "The Donald" for saying what a lot of people really think about illegal Mexicans, Muslims and protesters. A lot of it is over the top but it has hit a nerve none the less.
The scenario where Trump is elected president is narrow but widening more and more. Democrats always get their voters out in mass in presidential elections but if for some reason Dem.s get blase' or too confident and don't get their vote out... look out...
Hillary Clinton the probable Dem. nominee has her own detractors and some baggage from years of being under public scrutiny. The excitement in her campaign probably won't be there from the minorities like there was for Obama. There is a new minority rising....mostly blue collar white people who are very angry and motivated...The Donald is riding that anger anti- political establishment sentiment and he could ride it all the way to the White House...
Lord help us all if Trump becomes president.
ReplyDeleteLots of people think it will be choosing between the lesser of two evils. Clinton versus Trump.
ReplyDeleteTrump is like playing Russian Roulette with 3 bullets in the cylinder. The rest of the candidates is playing with 6 bullets in the cylinder. At least there's a chance he will do some of what he says everyone of the other one's have proven rhey won't.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny I'm a Democrat and at one time (couple of years back) I thought Hillary was the only real choice. Now I guess because I come from a blue collar background I can identify with a lot of the things Trump is preaching and fueling his rise.
ReplyDeleteThe timing for Hillary just doesn't feel right for some reason...
I like Kasich but he doesn't appear to have a chance...can't stand Cruz.
I can't say that I would vote for Trump but must admit his message and his being hated by the GOP establishment has boosted my opinion of him and the possibility of voting for him...
Totally undecided but my Democratic roots keep me grounded...
Cruz is nothing but scripted rhetoric. Same old stuff. I believe the only hope America has is with Trump. He may not be as "polished" as some of the others --- but I do think he is the only hope to actually getting something done. And he is a very smart man. Go Trump!
ReplyDeleteWe need a European option.
ReplyDeletenone of the above
(but 'none of the above' would probably win)
I'm convinced he can't do all he thinks he can do...Too much gridlock when you need congressional approval, but I'm also near the point of saying what the hell he can't be any worse than the other options ...
ReplyDeleteThe fact the GOP leadership (Mc Connell, Romney etc.) is scared to death of him and hate him with a passion is also a plus for me...
Too many will be offended by Trump's candidacy they will go to the polls in droves the minorities to defeat him.
ReplyDeleteWith an opponent like Hillary, is there any really a choice?
ReplyDeleteShe wont take responsibility for her actions (Benghazi), she thinks that she is above the law (Emails), and she has openly stated that she would like to disarm America.
I would love to see a better choice in the race, but it just is not there.
Donald Trump is part of the problem, not the solution.
ReplyDeleteWhy the good high paying jobs have left... because people like Donald Trump.
US manufacturing can come back, by the will of the American people. If you buy Made in the USA, jobs will come back here. Don't buy Donald Trump's clothes that are made in China.
And vote for Hillary... she will continue the policies of Pres Obama.

The gun lobby and NRA throw millions of dollars at Rep. candidates to perpetuate the myth that Dem.s are going to take guns away...and it works as gun sales always rise during Dem. presidencies.
ReplyDeleteTherefore creating huge profits for gun manufacturers who keep the cycle alive by pouring profits back to the lobbyists.
Meanwhile not one gun has ever been confiscated by a Dem. president...as the NRA and gun manufacturers laugh all the way to the bank...
HT, with all due respect.
ReplyDeleteHilliary is on video stating that she would support an "Australian" type of buyback program.
That's a forced buyback program, confiscation....

I suppose Trump could become President. He'd have to drain off enough of the Berners to do it. Hillary would no doubt get some neocons... What a world.
ReplyDeleteI think many young Bernie lovers will lose interest if Hillary wins. Young people are not necessarily interested in loyalty to the Democrat party. Its a crazy election year!
ReplyDeleteWoo in your own link Hillary said the program was "worth considering" and went on to say she didn't know enough detail to if it would work here or not. Not exactly she wants to "confiscate your guns" like you and the NRA turned her words around to be....
ReplyDeleteConfiscation is seizure without compensation, In Australia the program targeted "illegal" guns and those who turned them in, were well compensated for them...
I guess you can go on believing Dem.s want to "confiscate" your guns ...the NRA and gun manufacturers everywhere thank you...
Yeah Kevin only the very young could believe Bernie's plan for a free college education for everyone is doable.
ReplyDeleteHT, might want to take a closer look at the Australian buyback program.
ReplyDeleteCommon firearms were deemed illegal (rimfire, shotguns)by the stroke of a pen.
Confiscation was mandatory, or face jail time.
If the Democratic party, (Hilliary, Boxer, Reid, Feinstien)were to get their way, they would do the same.
Goliath believes Woo really on to something.. NOw that Obama done failed in his mission to take our guns, spears, knives, and ammonitions, we now has to worry about that Wimmens what wants to disarm our manhood!!!
ReplyDeleteGoliath heading down to local gun and sword sellers to LOAD up on more inventoree what he can fight off commies, vegans and the odd Hillary wimmenistas!
I have looked at the Australian buyback program and believe me it would never fly here in the U.S. The reason it was so popular in Australia is those participating were well compensated monetarily for the guns.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats myself included own guns and are as passionate about their 2nd amendment rights as anyone. My contention is that Rep.s financed by the NRA and gun manufacturers have politicized and many times misrepresented Dem.s stance to the point of creating paranoia.
Case in point is your own article where Clinton said she didn't know enough details but said it was worth looking into...The NRA turned it around misrepresenting her words by saying she wants to "confiscate" or guns...
The NRA has for years fueled by gun manufacturer's money perpetuated this myth of gun "confiscation" on the American people. Republicans politicians have taken this money from lobbyists and continue to run their campaigns with it when the fact is not 1 gun has ever been confiscated by a Democrat.
Any REAL attempt to confiscate guns would be equally repelled by Dem.s like me and Rep.s who believe in our rights....I just refuse to buy into the self serving and money making scheme the NRA and gun makers use to politicize and falsely misrepresent facts...
The next thing on the GOP agenda is confiscating illegal chicken operations like those run by Goliath.
ReplyDeletePETA lobbyists will be throwing millions of dollars at the GOP to stop Goliath and those like him who raise victimized chickens merely for their dinner plates...
You can have my hens when you pry them out of my cold dead hands! Molen Grabe!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know what else they don't have in Australia? Active shooter drills.
ReplyDeleteAccording to PETA Hillary is in favor of a chicken buyback program where you could be compensated for your "illegal" chickens....

Bro Goliath is on that!
Goliath's shyster lawyer done whooped PETA already last year. (See USDA v. Tim Starks and Wildlife In Need) He can darn well whopp them agin if they try and put there stupid naked fur hands on Goliath's flock of hens. DAD BLAST IT!
ReplyDelete<---------- Does believe tuition free college is doable...And many of Sanders other programs.
ReplyDeleteNow getting them through congress is a different subject...I'm afraid he'd be up
against the same yahoo's as the President has been...What I do think is happening
though is that young people are showing what direction they want to move the
country in but it may take a couple more election cycles to really begin to see
the fruits of it...Bernie's view is the future I believe...Trumps base
consists of older/middle-aged white men of a certain type...It's their last stand.
