Asshole of the Month ...Ed (Moe) Zastawny

  Congratulation to Ed (Moe) Zastawny the BatBlog's "Asshole of the Month". In Moe's 10 point plan for the City of Jeffersonville (actually it's 11 points which makes one wonder about Zastawny being part of the city's financial numbers) Moe wants to tear down the Clark Arms low income apartment complex and replace it with "upscale" condos.

 Gee thanks Moe from the less fortunate and elderly who you conveniently want to just move out thanks to the revival of downtown due to the brand spanking new Big Four Bridge ...which by the way your council had practically no part in developing. You might know the City gets one nice feature (walking bridge) and all of sudden it isn't good enough for the poor or elderly...

 Yeah let's just cast the residents aside to make room for your well to do cronies now that this area is acceptable to them. Never mind that your 10 errr 11 point plan makes no mention of how to house the castoffs once their home is torn down.....Never mind the poor and elderly have been the backbone of the downtown for a long time ....it's time for them to go...

  The BatBlog wonders if fellow councilman and mayoral candidate Julius helped think up the 11 points in Moe's 10 point plan ??? Yeah Ed "Moe " Z showed his true colors and how he thinks about the majority of town folk ....Let them eat cake....

Ed Z. now makes the BatBlog hall of shame and a charter member of "Asshole of the Month" club....

  1. I would bet money D.Julius had something to do with this as they are as thick as thieves no pun intended. Julius doesn't have the balls to put his name on it, just like he has done on every issue 1.)city court 2.)soccer field 3.)canal he stands in the background like a coward while others do the dirty work.

  2. Zastawny stuck his foot in his mouth on this one, he's trying to save face and backing up now saying we should build another low income building to replace CA.

    He also said the computer changed his ten point plan to eleven lol.

  3. Gee, I wonder why Jeffersonville never really moves forward. Every time someone brings ideas to the table, instead of constructive criticism, we attack the messenger, attack the plan or cry "well how much is that going to me?"

    And when the plan goes through and actually works, we either give a different person credit (big 4 bridge) or we conveniently forget about it (Vissing Park).

    Even though he brings up improving Holman's Lane, you can't bring yourself to give credit to him, despite you constantly bringing up Holman's Lane as something that needs improvement.

    Reasonable people can disagree on different projects and courses of action. But the majority of online people seem to only fight progress. If this continues, Jeffersonville will continue to stagnate and fall further behind. If that happens I know several people my age (25-40) that have started to look at New Albany and their growth and progress as an alternative. Not that any of you would see that as a bad sign.

  4. That's called "crawfishing" Anon. when you start backing up, disowning from what you originally said and meant.

    Moe is a big time crawfish... if he's serious about building another low income housing complex let's see him put his money where his mouth is...take some of that soccer/sports building money and build one. Of course that will never fly, hell this council which is also the zoning board wouldn't even rezone a decrepit old building for a homeless day center.

    He can "crawfish" all he wants but facts are facts and it appears he wants the old , disabled. poor and homeless to just disappear from downtown and his excuse about the computer changing the numbers on his plan is laughable....Counting starts with 1 Ed not 0 slowly now 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ....got it ....

  5. Anon. he stole the Holman Ln.idea from the BatBlog and the 10th St. widening/ utility upgrade from the mayor...I'm all about progress but I also have a little compassion for those less fortunate...I've been saying Moe Zastawny is a clown for years now he's going public and proving it....

  7. Ed Z. wasn't too "constructive" about wanting the disabled and elderly gone until he started getting raked over the coals about it. His first comments never mentioned building a replacement for Clark Arms. Now Hutt who used to trash Ed. Z is suggesting alternative locations on the CCC backing up his new found buddy.

  9. Just read Hutt's comments on the Clark County Chatter... like CCC member said Not honest Mike used to hammer Ed Z. and Sellers unmercifully and now he's all chummy chummy coming to Ed. Z's defense. Hutt's naming other locations for replacing Clark Arms...Court Ave., old Bales bldg. where the fire engine museum is etc..

    Here's an idea build Ed (Moe) Z.'s upscale condos in Hutt's locations, leave Clark Arm's where it is and take ED Z.'s soccer money and update Clark Arms...the buildings not bad but needs refurbished...that saves everybody money cheaper to modernize than build a whole new building...

    Why should the aged, disabled poor have to give up their location for Ed's cronies it suits their needs and has been their over 50 years just needs a little update...A win win solution...

  10. Don't know why my comment didn't post from yesterday, but just let me say that my son & daughter in law have thought about moving just as the earlier post suggested. They are enticed by neighboring communities with more entertainment options. I suspect that they are not the only ones.

  11. Suggestion for the persons "thinking" of moving to New Albania: If you book, would you take the Jeffersonville City Council with you? Please. Taking the council to reside in New Albania would raise the IQ of BOTH cities! A public service for Southern Indiana!

    1. Minus my time in Bloomington, Jeffersonville has always been my home. And usually I'm proud of that until I come on here and see people who are more interested in politics, a personal vendetta, and /or a few dollars than actual growth and progress.

    Anonymous person, have fun in Albania! Jeffersonville is really dynamic and has a great deal of progress occurring. The council can hang with you grumpy persons and some of those "downstream" Albanians. Hoosier Taxpayer is doing an excellent job of exposing the negative and underhanded posers.

      I have to question someone who doesn't care that people seem discouraged with the stagnation of the city and are considering moving. It seems you may not have the city's best interests in mind. And that would be negative and underhanded.

  17. Have you heard anything about the secret meetings and subsequent planned attacks on the administration set for Monday's council meeting over the great progress
    being made?
    Question: Would any "current council persons" have secret meetings,
    (gasp) send email or text messages saying they really support the 10th Street improvements, but want to have a council "resolution" made Monday night to NOT support the Jeffersonville, INDOT, and KIPDA 10th Street plan ?
    They are not for it THIS year because it makes the Mayor look good,
    but really want it accomplished in the future?
    Is someone addressing the council Monday night to EXPOSE this possible secret, nefarious, backstabbing, politically motivated council vote?

    Hoosier Taxpayer is digging into the next council scandal.
    Monday's meeting may expose yet more council problems.

  18. INDOT and KIPDA have processes, obligations, and opinions about the timing and importance of projects for Indiana in which they are involved. The 10th Street improvements are very important for Jeffersonville's citizens. Playing politically motivated games with the timing of INDOT and KIPDA projects to try to harm an administration's efforts and promote the special interests of a candidate
    can have long reaching legal implications. Funding can be endangered. Public safety can be impacted.
    Hoosier Taxpayer is digging. Monday's meeting could expose "a current, sneaky,
    not too bright play".....
    Is a possible sneaky effort is being led by what some call JEALOUS, self-centered politicians?

    The BatBlog may have a representative at the Monday council meeting as the BatBlog has picked up rumblings of MORE attempts at delaying city projects in an attempt to keep credit away from the mayor. These behind closed doors, sneaky, and perhaps illegal political tactics have been leaked to the BatBlog by an informed confidential inside source...

    Remain Vigilant CV as maybe with your help the BatBlog can expose more of these "politically motivated games" that are not in the best interest of Jeffersonville taxpayers and voters...

  22. The City of Jeffersonville, the State of Indiana via additional funding and INDOT, and KIPDA are all working diligently on the important 10th Street improvements.
    Obfuscation and silly "road blocks" should be avoided.
    Design work and planning have been prepared and approved, funding is in the loop, right of ways are being obtained, the utility relocation plan is set and will proceed once certain guarantees from the governmental entities are obtained.
    Game on!
    Let's see some egomania pols get on board and help the great growth of the City of Jeffersonville!

    The rumor now expanding the allegedly blatant attempts to stop the 10th Street widening project that will assist in allowing Jeffersonville to grow,
    prosper, and flow traffic more safely,
    is that possibly TWO members of the current city council
    have ORDERED the Parks Department to stop working
    on the "Way Expensive Dense Jungle Growth Mess"
    in the median on 10th Street!
    This can not be so, can it?

    The Legislative Branch still usurping Executive Branch functions?
    Isn't it time to try to "whack off" some of that thar
    "Massively Thick Dense Jungle Plant Median Growth
    and stop the interference? SHM.
    The "Rain Forest" downpours of this Spring and early Summer
    are really exposing the 'Plant Dipping' mess.
    How much did all that cost?
    How much will it cost to maintain for 20-30 years?
    It looks really horrid....

  26. The rumor is that some members of the council were not informed that allegedly
    two members of the current council were taking that usurpation of power upon themselves.....Communication problems? Power hungry members?
    Maybe some council persons are finally realizing that they are also looking very bad.
    Will these 10th Street dueling scandal messes be discussed by the public tonight?
    The administration is trying to clean up the mess it inherited. Shouldn't the council want the widening to cut through red tape and be completed??
    The Jungle Growth Mess needs to be solved as well as it will can be.
    The rain is having fun with Jeffersonville politics!

  27. Hoosier Taxpayer and the Bat Blog have detected some serious frustration over the initial really high cost of the plants, the long term high cost of maintenance, and the alleged politically motivated attempts to block the 10th Street widening.

    Will the council fess up for their mistakes and accept the blame and try to help? Or will it be silly finger-pointing that no one is buying?

    Plant Dipping, very excessive maintenance costs stuck on the taxpayers, slow playing the important widening project?

    Let's hope that the public doesn't bring up the council's problems in the Holman's Lane project....

  28. The utility companies are waiting for the government entities to get them
    the go ahead that the funding is forthcoming. Let's get this co-ordinated and underway!
    Jeffersonville does not need 10th Street to be subjected to the mistakes of the Holman's Lane widening project.
    Are the utilities completely moved for the Holman's Lane project?
    Was that initially to have been started 8 years ago
    in the KIPDA plan?

  31. I get so frustrated when someone wants to just throw aside the elderly and/or disabled! I have been in Clark Arms (my brother lived there before he passed away in 1997) and I think the city should put money in to improving it, not tearing it down!! I have visited some amazing people there and the hallways smell so strong of urine and there are numerous water leaks. I would love to see major improvements made for these folks. I believe in progress, but it should not be at the expense of our elderly and special needs. Shame on those who want to tear it down!!!
