The Election That Never Ended...

 *********************************UPDATE***************************************************************************************************
NO DECISION TODAY; Attorneys will continue their arguments tomorrow in front of Judge Adams

*********************************************************************************************************************************************
The continuing saga of the Jeffersonville City councilman at large race in last Nov.'s election is back in the news this week. A court hearing is scheduled tomorrow to hopefully somehow straighten out and hopefully answer questions about the recount in the closely contested race for the 3 at large seats.

Accusations are flying back and forth by both Dem. and Rep. party chairs Galligan and Noel of politics being played, missing ballots, sleeping vote counters, counters being changed during the process etc.,etc., etc .The BatBlog has been told by a source close to the recount process "this is the worst cluster f_ _ _ I've seen, and that is truly saying something."

In truth we will never find out who actually won the "Election that never ended" as the whole recount process has muddled any chance of actually determining who won.  It was a race for the whole election but the counts for Owen, Samuel and Cooley weren't even counted, only the totals of Rodriquez, Webb and Ellis.  Counting mistakes and discrepancies and a poor process have created a total mess.

The BatBlog is calling for a total revamping of the  recount process as the current one obviously doesn't work. Create a 5 or 6 person panel or commission of non political, non partisan citizens chosen by judges from each party. Allow the panel and only them to handle, count and determine the validity and totals of  all the votes ...with a judge present to decide on conflicting matters. Keep all politicians , their attorneys , party chairs away from the whole process....and the conclusion of the panel is final.

The BatBlog isn't pointing fingers at anyone but allowing Noel, Gilligan, Perkins, Wilder and all the other political has been's and want to be's even near to the process is just begging to be what it end up being the "worst cluster f _ _ _" possible.  It's a shame for all the hard working candidates who invested their time and money in the race only to find out nobody knows who won. As well as the voters who took the time to vote, thinking their vote actually counted and expected that the true winner be determined only to find out it wouldn't happen ...This should never happen again...

  3. Unbelievable...
Maybe A & E will want to film a docu-series on Clark County Politices while they are here. Some if the same characters.

  4. LOL Yeah it would be funny to film all the criminally charged former officials in the CC jail. Unfortunately they all got probation thanks to Larry "guilty as charged" Wilder...LOL

  5. Sounds like Rodriquez might have gotten screwed.

  6. Yeah from what I've seen and heard Josh looks like he got short changed on some votes that didn't go into his column. It would be tough to think you won but lost on the error of someone recounting the votes.

  7. Let's add one more spot for Josh on the council. Eliminate the insurance to pay for his salary.

  8. I agree... if you read all of the accounts written up in the newspaper, Josh got screwed royally. It's a damned shame.

  9. Don't forget
that David Mosley is representing the Democrats
    and
that Larry Wilder is representing the Republicans.

    Two excellent lawyers.

The court arguments for another attempt
    at a count is underway.

If allowed, it would actually be the FOURTH count.....

  10. Election Recount Saga

    The election officials,
    both Republican and Democrat,
counted the votes initially election night.
The results were certified to the clerk's office.

    A Recount Commission,
consisting of one D person chosen by those asking for a recount
as well as one R person, chosen by those asking for a recount,
and an election voting machine representative
    was selected.

    The Recount Commission
    started THEIR first recount with
    about 10 separate teams consisting
of one D and one R each.
    CHAOIS ENSUED.

    The elected clerk
and the two lawyers were OBSERVING
but not actually CONDUCTING the recount.
Together they determination to stop the recount
and get some clarification and direction from the Circuit Court.

They did and the recount started again.

The Recount Commission conducted a slow, careful evaluation
of the ballots over a few days. There were many questions .

After the public evaluation of the ballots by the Recount Commission,
a private count was then made of the total results
    of the allowed ballots.
The Recount Commission was ready to announce the results.

    Larry Wilder,
    the lawyer representing Republicans
    demanded
that they conduct a PUBLIC recount
of the ballot results and totals.
    They agreed and did so.

The final results were voted on 3-0
by the Recount Commission after that additional count
    and announcement of results.

The results were given to the county clerk and the count election commission.

    The next day John Perkins,
the D rep on the recount commission
said that he would now NOT sign the results of THEIR recount.

The recount Commission had a 3-0 vote
and 2-0 signed result by a majority
so the results were as directed by statute
    certified to the clerk
and the Clark Count election board.
    Winners were named.

    Next, their was still disagreement
as to the inclusion or non-allowance of ballots,
and the standards of evaluation determinations
    made by the Election Commission
    in their recount thingy.

    Back to court again!
The very smart lawyers are at it again this morning!

The Award Winning Bat Blog has this election recount saga covered!

  11. Bat Blog Election Commission Recount Drama
    2015 stretches into 2016

    The dedicated followers of power
strolling the hallowed corridors say that generally
three different major outcomes could be ordered by Judge Adams.

1.) A new election for all six of the at-large candidates could be ordered.,
2.) Yet ANOTHER recount could be directed to be conducted.,
3.) The results could be directed to stand and thus be certified.

It is also said that Ron Ellis feels the he won the third slot
as the counts and recounts did not correctly reflect his totals.

    Ron Ellis.
    Josh Rodriquez.
    Steve Webb.

Any of them or all may appeal the judge's ruling
or appeal any potential subsequent recount certifications
    if they occur.

    Matt Owen.
    Steve Cooley.
    Nathan Samuel.
They may also be included in a total recount
or a potential brand spanking "new do-it-over-again" election!

Toxic John and Wilder in the building is a recipe for a cluster f _ _ _.

  13. Concerned voter's high esteem for Wilder isn't shared by most of the rest of this city.

  15. There is no doubt this thing is so muddled, there is no way that a true vote count can be determined now...Nobody appears to know what they were doing or how to do it... a real injustice for the voters and candidates.
