Grumpy Old Man ??? Galligan Slams Mayor Moore

It didn't take long for the Veto of funding the Clark regional airport by  Jeffersonville mayor Mike Moore to draw the ire of airport president and former Jeff mayor Tom "Grumpy" Galligan. In an article by the News/Tribune CLICK HERE Grumpy complained  " (Moore) doesn't  understand economic development. He's just reaping the benefits of everything that was sowed before and he doesn't know how to plant new seeds so I don't expect anything less from him." In the article Grumpy also called Moore "short sighted."

After Moore defeated Galligan in 2011  TG must have moved into a cave or under a rock to not notice the economic development in Moore's 1st term and continuing into his current term. In the BatBlog's many years residing and observing the local scene never has growth and development been so prominent and promising as the last 5 years.
Sowing new seeds of Econ. development along Hwy. 62

It appears that TG doesn't appreciate the job Moore and his Econ. developer Rob Waiz has done recently and can't get over his bitterness of losing to Moore in 2011. The BatBlog suggest that Mr. Galligan instead of crying to the press about the mayor's veto get out and attempt to solicit funds from other "Regional" towns and cities  for the airport expansion. Get out, look around and enjoy all the recent economic development TG, and for someone who "doesn't understand economic development" Mike Moore and Waiz are doing one hell of  a bang up job...

Enjoy it TG and smile or you might get the reputation as a Grumpy Old Man....

  2. Galligan didn't take his loss to MM very well there is still a lot of bitter feelings which is mutually felt.

  3. Galligan still thinks he had something to do with the recent development, he is also delusional.

    1. The only thing he ever developed was a cold...

    2. I don't believe that's true at all...He had a great deal to do with the revitalization of downtown, the walking bridge, and other things...I've been quite happy to give our current mayor credit for doing a good job of seeing through many of the projects TG started...But TG deserves credit for having the idea's and getting many of those things started in the first place.

    3. Amen Jules. Mayor Moore needs to plant some seeds like TG and others have done. That is what good leaders do. Look to the long-term. A top notch viable airport is a good example.

      Please overturn the veto Council.

    4. Have to disagree, the walking bridge just fell into Jeffersonville's lap when Louisville developed it...and Galligan's plans for the Bridge landing that tied into the canal plans were throw out with him after the election...The Big 4 landing is all a Moore administration design...

Galligans 12 years were highlighted by wasteful reckless spending... 1.) Illegally fired the sewer operations company that resulted in a lawsuit cost ??? million

2.) Illegally started the "road to nowhere" without permits that violated EPA wetlands protection...road stopped after ??? thousands thrown away ...road never completed...

3.) Canal project went ahead with engineering designs, property acquisitions knowing the "Canal" was an election issue that would be stopped if he lost...again???hundreds of thousands spent with nothing to show for it...

4.) Illegally again without required permits started Vissing park project without informing neighborhoods...while ultimately finished lead to delays....

5.) The median landscaping fiasco...terrible design and enormous waste of tax dollars that ultimately was plowed under for grass...

These are the high points, the revitalization of downtown occurred after the Big four bridge and landing park were opened and Galligan was long gone...

It's loyalty and political ploy that supporters use to try paint the current administration as just completing prior projects... but facts remain facts...

    5. Well at least the next mayor will have nothing to complete since Mayor Moore is against anything that is not his idea.

Oh, I forgot, he did claim credit for the bridge project even though he was vehemently against it. Was great to see him up on the bridge claiming victory when he had 0 to do with it.

    6. Which bridge project are you referring to ??? I don't recall his being against any of the bridge projects...just the canal.

    7. The Lincoln Bridge. Do a little research.... Ran a campaign against it. I thought you knew your man well.

    8. I campaigned against the Lincoln Bridge?

    9. Synonymous II said:
Mayor Moore was NOT against the new bridge project.
That is incorrect. Anonymous is confused again. The mayor's opponent
in the election had the CITY COUNCIL pass a resolution and send it on to both Indiana and Kentucky asking that it be postponed and that there be more time given to study the Ohio River bridges project.
      It was not Mayor Moore.

    10. The "Anonymous" is just confused.
Mayor Moore did not campaign against the bridge.
The Jeffersonville City Council, at the urging of a mayoral candidate, actually passed a resolution asking that Kentucky and Indiana
      delay it even longer.

    11. My apologies. I guess I was confused, or mislead. It just made sense that you were against the bridge which would serve the region (since you are against the airport that would serve the region). But thank you for supporting the bridge contract.

  4. I actually invited Tom into my office just last week. We had a nice talk about our kids and shook hands before he left. I have a great deal of respect for the man.

  5. It doesn't appear Tom has the same respect for you mayor. Those weren't very flattering words he said about you to the press. He as much as said you don't know what you're doing. If you remember he said some pretty nasty things about you to one of the TV stations after you defeated him in the election four years ago. I am glad though that you are the bigger man and take the high road dealing with him.

  8. Oh, the bridge landing that caused the year and a half delay that made Jeffersonville look stupid.

Not to mention that during his initial campaign his supporters dismissed the possible benefits of the bridge. Then patted Moore on the back after the lengthy delay.

    1. Only the crybaby Galligan supporters pull out the bridge delay...a non issue to everyone else...It was done right that's the main thing and everyone knew about the benefits the bridge ...Try crying a new song...

    2. i don't recall a lot of opposition to the bridge project.
At least not after the "Grand Canal" idea was dumped.

  10. We also gained a new park at Allison Lane. Because one of Tom's friends needed to unload it. When he found out it couldn't be developed. : )

    1. False. A Republican who supported Moore owned that property.

    2. Wrong Galligan bought that property from Robert Lynn before Moore was elected...the property in the flood plain was useless ... Moore did the only thing you could do with property like that and turned it into a nice park....

  12. Thanks for backn me HT, I knew it was Lynn. The property was contaminated by the old fuel tanks left behind . Tom had the city buy it to the tune of 64k per acre. Sweet deal for Lynn. City got stuck with it. Choices were park or parking lot...

    1. Lynn didn't own all of it. NH & JJ owned most of it. Maybe not the corner but the surrounding acres.

  13. Whatevet it was a useless piece of property that Gilligan way overpayed for...

You hear a lot of Gilligan cronies complaining about the park but like TLIES said it was either a park or a parking lot nothing else could be built there..

  14. I'm fine with the facts that Galligan bought it and that Moore turned into a park. It eliminated a horrible eye sore for the city.

    1. You're right Bill it was an eyesore and it's very attractive now. My only comment would be you can bet your ass Galligan wouldn't have paid that kind of his own money for that property. It's a whole lot easier to spend if it isn't yours...

    2. Well here's the deal, HT, it was as much my money as it was his, and I'm fine with it.

    3. Here's the real deal Bill, it was also the voters money as well and deals like this and those mentioned above is why we (the voters) kicked him to the curb...
