Be Careful Who You Vote for...

The recent story about newly elected Clark Co. councilman Mike Popplewell brings up several issues.

While you can never be sure about all candidates, their backgrounds and character....sometimes there are warning signs. That appears to be the case with Popplewell who was involved in a credit card controversy well before this year's election. You would think that would be a throw up a black flag against his candidacy but it was apparently overlooked or not widely known because Popplewell finished 2nd and won a seat in a large field that included two incumbent councilmen (Vissing and Hubbard.)

It has become popular lately with their local successes  to be a Republican. Many Democrats for varying reasons including wanting to be on the winning side have flipped allegiances. The Popplewell matter should be a warning to those who just vote for the person because he or she has a (R) beside there name.

This isn't an indictment of just the GOP as Democrats have had more than their share of embarrassing and illegal behavior by office holders as well ...a pretty good list includes (Rodden, Perkins, Jacobi, Adams) all who have been in legal trouble here recently...

Another issue arising from this is how we hire our local police. As long as The BatBlog can remember local police have been hired by having some connection usually politically or and through family. Qualifications a lot of the time don't matter and "Who"  you know is the determining prerequisite to becoming a police officer.  Which makes for and has led to some embarrassing situations and unprofessional police work at times...

Don't get us wrong we have some good officers, but The BatBlog would
like to see experience, training and an educational background in law enforcement be the main prerequisite for obtaining positions on the local police and sheriff's departments and not "Who you know"...and do you your homework before going to the voting booth...If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck more than likely It is a duck...

And as always  "Remain vigilant my friends"

  1. Voting party over person is just stupid in my opinion. Both parties have wackos and they must be weeded out by the voters. Every one knew Jacobi and Rodden were but voted them in anyway and it cost us all a lot of money. Vote smart. There are good people on both sides.

  2. "Fourteen (14) local Clark County Democrats
were allegedly targeted and allegedly set up by the allegedly illegal
    and unethical behavior
and actions of Republican operatives to improperly and illegally influence
    Clark County voters.
Adams was "mysteriously" taped in his office.
Sheriff Rodden was set up by an "operative" (confidential informant)
that had been previously utilized in a controlled manner
against over twelve other elected officials
in the sovereign State of Indiana.
The C.I. operative allegedly had had a long track record in
    the swamp in DC.
    Very powerful political influence.

Look at the tapes of Judge Pearce being stopped by the East German Staci.
What is the background of the person who stopped him?
Where did he come from and why was he in Clark County?
Similar to Popplewell's behavior , perhaps?

Everyone at city Hall and the county government center knows this.
There is a an atmosphere of fear in place.
    Someone in Indianapolis was complicit.
Why was County Commissiojer Stepehnson "mysteriously
    also stalked and detained"?

For the record, I think the persons doing this are rally good dudes.
    No reason to anger them....

    That is true.

  5. I think asking people in this county (or the country if we're being honest) to vote for a person and not a party is giving them a little too much credit. Idiocracy is now a reality.

    1. It's hard not to though. When good people like Dick Luger are run out of office because he tried to work with the other side, you're pretty much stuck with siding with which ever party is closer to your views.

  6. Jamie Noel just hired Poppawell to work at the fire department.
This way he can keep an eye on him. So if he screws up, we will not know.

  7. Sorry, J Noel says its not true!

    1. But it's true Noel has created a position for him somewhere though. Noel has created a few new positions lately for the minions that will be working his and Scotties campaigns, all on Clark county residents tax dollars

  8. It looks like Poppelwell
will be a political sore point
for years now if he does not resign from the county council.

It might be a wiser path to get rid of him now.

    1. As I said before Popplewell is due his day in court and innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately in this case it appears a cover up has been in place. With that being the case Popplewell's credibility is zero and another embarrassment to Clark county. He should be asked to resign from his recently elected position on the county council...

  9. Just like Ms. Perkins on the school board? So do you think she should resign as well? If not then why should Mr. Poppowell. I am not taking up for either one of them or picking sides just trying to figure out what the difference is

    1. Perkins should have resigned long ago. Obviously not very smart -- just selfish and arrogant.

  10. I think whoever loses elections should automatically get that position. It's clear the people of Clark County can't be trusted to use their brains and vote for the right person.

  11. Perhaps we should elect the Hoosiertaxpayer to permanent command in chief of Clark county

  12. Maybe Keith Henderson can hire Popplewell as an investigator in addition to Jacobi as prosecutor. And this is why people continue to have no respect for law enforcement.

  13. Award Winning Bat Blog Way Cool Political Update
1.) Poppelwell is not Judge Weber's problem.
Poppelwell is an R, Weber is a D. Weber can watch
and enjoy the Poppelwell scandal unfold.,
2.)Jerry Jacobi did an excellent job as the elected prosecutor,
winning first way back in 1982. He then was an advocate
for utility consumer's with that commission
in Indianapolis for Governor Evan Bayh,
    and a very good judge.
Why he subsequently did not exercise
adequate supervision as a judge over the two R employees
is a head scratching mystery. What happened?,
    3.)Judge Jacobi hired Steve Stewart
    as his Chief Deputy Prosecutor
and that was an excellent decision.
Stew was a great prosecutor for 20 years.,
4.) Teresa Bottorff is an accomplished school administrator
and excellent school board member. She is a tad too Liberal.
She is dedicated to educational excellence. The voters elected her
by a wide 2,500 vote margin.
(Note: It is well known that her problems were created
    by those crafty Russians!)
5.)The set ups of the fourteen (14) local Clark County officials
by the powers in Indianapolis sucked. It was very abusive and wrong.,
6.) Poppelwell will be big political anchor
for the county and Clarksville Democrats
    for period of time.
He makes the Town of Clarksville
and some law enforcement officers look bad.
He will not benefit the R's as an issue in 2018 and 2019.,
7.)Prosecutor Mull needs to think through
the temporary avoidance of charging Poppelwell.,
8.) Where is D Chair TG in this sordid R scandal?
Is he letting this situation slip so far? He has been eerily silent.
    Why, bro?,
9.) Jamey Noel has been remarkably successful
in his organizing efforts in Clark County.
    An historic change.
The rumors are that Chairman/Sheriff Noel
is headed for a major gig in Homeland Security !
He will make Clark County proud!
    The Radical Muslim Terrorists
are in for some serious opposition from him.
(Recommendation/Hint: "Illegal Immigrant Terrorists should leave now."),
10.)The illegal/sneaky black op type set ups of Clark County
elected officials and others by the Indianapolis powers
was really a serious abuse of governmental authority and power.,
    11.) The smooth Hoosier Taxpayer
has earned some really prestigious journalism awards
from The Goliath and The GAW News Bureau.
If H-T decides to run for elective office,
    that would be really neat.
    :) ;) :)

  14. Actually Jacobi was a horrible judge and even worse supervisor. He should never be allowed to have authority over anything or anyone agin. He knew (as did everyone else at the court house) what was going on. The other judges did not have the courage to say stop. What is the incident with the 14 other political figures that keeps coming up??
Merry Christmas to all regardless of your political party affiliation 😎

  16. Rumor has it......Poppawell still has trouble looming!

  17. I also heard he was pissed that the county council job does not have health insurance.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He is just arrogant enough to complain about insurance. You know where else they don't have health insurance ? PRISON where he belongs !!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Actually prison does come with health insurance, unfortunately you are more likely to need it. Hopefully he will have a nice roommate. Former police officers usually don't care well in prison.
