Clark County Sheriff... Can Anyone Beat King Jamey in 2018 ???

It's over a year away but in 2018 there will be a Clark Co, sheriff's election. Always a popular race that normally draws several candidates  in the primaries and the general election. Approaching 2018 the question is can anyone beat current sheriff and Clark Co. Republican chairman "King Jamey" Noel ???

Noel's first term for the most part has been devoid of any major controversy other than the rumor of some minor internal dissension within the department. Noel instituted  the reality TV series 90 Day's In during his 1st term which was an embarrassingly bad depiction of a less than factual premise, but it supposedly brought in some dollars for equipment needed by the jail and possibly saved us some tax dollars in the process.

Noel also failed to live up to his campaign promise of relinquishing the GOP Clark Co. chairmanship much to the chagrin of still wet behind the ears Matt "LapDog" Owen who faithfully followed behind his master everywhere awaiting the position. The BatBlog doesn't think Noel's staying in the party chair position will hurt his chance of reelection, as you can't argue with success and under Noel's chairmanship the Rep. party has prospered and dominated recent elections.

The BatBlog has heard rumors of possible, potential candidates to take on "King Jamey" but nothing concrete or announced. We would like to see Brian Meyer (D) return for a rematch of the 2014 race where he was barely defeated by Noel (37%-35%) in a three candidate race that included Mac Spainhour an independent candidate who received about 27% of the vote. Mr. Meyer a career C.C. dept. member is a good man and officer who would be a formidable candidate again, Meyer may have been unfairly connected to disgraced former Sheriff  Danny Rodden who was forced to resign before the 2014 election.

Noel is a polarizing figure as sheriff that many do not like his hobnobbing to the press (Fox News) and his penchant as a publicity hound... but still he has to be considered the favorite, especially considering the recent domination of Republican candidates and the fact he has done a pretty good job....

Will the reign of King Jamey Noel come to an end in 2018 ??? Stay Tuned....

    2. You haven't read nearly enough of the statements on this blog if you think so.

  2. Might have a ring to it, but you are dreaming it will never happen.

  3. One of the hardest things to do in Clark County is beat an incumbent sheriff. Especially one like Noel who is a professional politician. Not saying it can't be done but a hard road. Then again a couple more years of "The Donald" and the Republicans are going to find it hard to win anything. Time will tell.

  4. Totally agree Mr. G., Noel is devoid of any big controversy and with the GOP rolling right now he has to be favored. It took a love affair with a prostitute and dressing her in C.C. sheriff's gear to get rid of Rodden...

  5. Did Noel take his usual dates Maples and Owen to the Barnstable Derby party this year?

  8. It would be great to see a new sheriff in Clark county. Bobby Hill is only in it for himself, not our citizens. Well, for himself and the free donuts.

  9. Honestly they looked like some kind of freak show. I wonder how many of the rich and famous saw these guys and thought WTF ????

  12. You want Meyer to run but the citizens of Clark County voted wrong two sheriffs in a row. I'm starting to think they shouldn't be allowed to vote.

  13. Who ever runs, I doubt we will have a 'friendly' ice bucket challenge event where everyone
shows 'its all in good fun'.

  14. Award Winning Bat Blog Early Sheriff's Race Report
Danny Rodden was an exceptionally good sheriff who was set up
by sinister and powerful political operatives.

Jamey Noel had an excellent vote splitter
in the very good DNR officer Mac Spainhour
    who ran third party.
Who talked him into running "third party"?

Jamey Noel is also a very accomplished politician, but if Kelly Khuri
does decide to make a historic run at the office of Clark County Sheriff,
she will be a formidable candidate.
    The time is right.

  15. "Clark County Sheriff Kelly Khuri has a hell of a ring to it."

Whomever posted that is definitely in a very good position to know.
The "First Blush" at the statement gives way to the fact
that it would be a hell of a race. Historic.

It is a "Trial Balloon" to see what feedback occurs and is a smart move.
The sheriff is supposed to be "citizen office"
and Kelly Khuri would be at the right place
    at the right time.

She would be a formidable campaigner,
is very intelligent, and would gather a lot of support.

    Tell us more.

    1. Kelly Khuri could have ballot access in 2018
through the Libertarian Party to run for Clark County Sheriff.

    2. I'll tell ya this made my morning. Happy Sunday!

    3. Kelly Khuri is one of the most vile, condescending, grandstanding, unpresentable, uneducated, one sided, unwilling to listen or learn individuals that has even raised their head in Clark county politics. She's worse than John Perkins.

The fact that there are people (probably herself) putting her name out there as a Sherriff candidate is not only ridiculous but dangerous to the community and its citizens.

      Delete
    4. Totally untrue, Ms. Khuri while very opinionated stands for limited government and government spending and was a very good County councilperson. It is important and beneficial to have varying views in bodies like the council she served in. She was a champion for her constituents tax dollars being well spent.

I don't think sheriff is the best position for her to run and I seriously doubt she has any chance of winning, but she has every right to run as do Libertarians have the right to provide a slate and different choices for voters...

    5. Looks like one of Noel's pets has commented about Khuri in an attempt to discredit her already. Wonder if it's an actual deputy or one of the 30+ special weekend warrior types that are " not only ridiculous but dangerous to the community" !!!!!

    6. She has been a member of The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association for years now, has friends in the organization and would be well suited. Thanks Anon for bringing her name to our attention. If she is not considering the position perhaps she can be encouraged to run, after all, it is her right.

  16. Oh great, first an Independent just took votes, now the Libertarian party. Enough already. Jamey will definitely not lose if these third parties keep throwing names in.

    ReplyDelete
  17. An Independent "took votes"? I thought Mac EARNED votes. His votes.
If votes were taken, from whom were they taken? Who was entitled to those votes?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. While it's true he "EARNED" votes he also took away votes. Clark County is not ready for an independent Sheriff and sometimes that's to bad. Now the question is if he hadn't have ran which side would the independent voters have leaned, who knows.

  18. Kelly Khuri running is about the biggest gift she could give her arch nemesis JN. She's still mad about her orchestrating ousting from the GOP years ago and it's just an axe to grind but as they say the pride comes before the fall. It would split up the anti-Jamey vote and he'd slide on in there again.

A one on one race is the only hope for a new sheriff.

    1. Her "orchestrating ousting"? Tell us more.

She was an elected Republican when she willing joined another party.

Looks more like she told the GOP to kiss her ass than an ousting of any sort. Unless you know something we don't...

  19. JN is very powerful
    and there is still talk
that he may be heading to greater glory
in his career up to Indy or on to DC.
    He has options.

Apparently, in 2018, it was approximately:
    37%.
    35%.
    27%.

    JN also has the ability
to select another candidate to back
if he moves on and he can throw big support to them.
Maples and Jones come to mind.

    Kelly Khuri
is making the political system work better in Clark County.
If she runs for Sheriff, she will be an excellent and interesting
candidate in a historic race. She likes politics and would have fun.

There is talk that she will run in 2018.

  20. Kelly Khuri certainly has your panties in a twist!
    :)
Why would it not be OK for her to run for sheriff?
She has a right to run for office just like everyone else.
    Why the extreme hatred?

    1. Agreed Ms. Khuri and the Libertarian party have every right to run for office. The BatBlog would prefer she look at the County council instead of sheriff but it is of course her choice the position she chooses to run for...
