Same Old Political BS Stops Progress Again and Again and Again....

The political games continue in Jeffersonville as the City Council/ Zoning board refused to rezone parcels of land at the main 10th Street entrance to the city needed to make a proposed 12 million dollar hotel investment reality. The council who has dragged it's feet on this proposal from the beginning citing at first sewer issues, but when they were resolved now claim concerns about traffic and fast food restaurants as the reasons for denying the required zoning changes.

Stopping the progress of development in a key area of the City is bad enough, but a couple of the idiots (Zastawny and Samuels) on the Council's claim of traffic concerns and the inclusion of fast food restaurants for the reasons behind their no votes on the rezoning is laughable and an insult to the intelligence of the voters and citizens of Jeffersonville....We all know it's about politics ....stupid.
What could have been, but stopped because of politics...

Another key development pushed forward by current Mayor Mike Moore would be a political plum moving forward into an election year and the Council with their own candidate (Julius) wants no part of making Moore look good at any cost including halting completely a multi million dollar investment.

If the Council is all of a sudden concerned about traffic congestion, why not do something about the terrible gridlock on Holman and Allison Lns. It's a disaster, 5 times worse than the intersection in question of the project site. And seriously fast food restaurants holding it up...I believe a Starbucks was one of those mentioned as being part of the development and Starbucks is an upscale, popular franchise which is actually needed and would be popular here locally...

I am disappointed and surprised in Samuels and Lisa Gill they at times have shown signs of thinking on their own and not following the political lead of the 4 Stooges on the Council (Sellers, Ed Z., Smith and Julius) but then again I'm not surprised at all this is Jeff and Clark Co. where politics trumps all including progress and doing what is best for the residents here..

It would just be nice if they (Council) would just tell the truth one time and admit it's all about politics and not feed us a line of BS. The bull shit reasoning not only makes you look foolish but also.....rather stupid.

  1. I believe the Council has done exactly what they were elected to do. A 6-2 vote speaks for itself when Dems and Republicans agree with each other. Thank you, Jeffersonville City Council

  2. The only real Rep.s voted YES Sellers, Ed.Z, and Gill are RINO's...

  3. If it's so political as you say, wouldn't the Republican chairman gotten his sister to vote with Matt and Zack? If this was such a wonderful/great project where was Bryan? Again, great job Jeffersonville City Council

  4. This is a blatant political move, you could see it coming. Moore baited the council about not attending the sewer meeting and the council responded by voting down his project. Moore shares in the blame he can't resist jabbing at them every chance he gets.

The shame of it is it was probably a good addition the project, the hotel would bring a lot of visitors to town

  5. Anon.
It's not about party politics peabrain... party hardly matters in local politics.

The majority of the counsel doesn't like Moore because he beat their boy Galligan...and Moore doesn't like the majority of the counsel... they bicker childishly back and forth with Moore just as much to blame as he can't keep his mouth shut...

but who loses ??? the people do because because of the bickering back and forth the City loses a good development and investment that will just go somewhere else probably Clarksville or New Albany...

ccc member hit it on the head "you could see it coming" these politicians are so predictable...

we pay these idiots on the council about what one would make at Mc Donalds and then we hand over to them handling millions of tax payer dollars...

most of them have neither the education, smarts or common sense to make decisions on million dollar budgets and then they want to play politics instead of what's in the public's best interest....

  6. Sounded like a good wasted opportunity to me. 10th street is full of fast food places so why would they not be good enough to be there? Heck we used to have a run down pet paradise and a sewer treatment plant. After that anything is an upgrade. I think this will end up in C-ville as someone above predicted. I still remember all of the establishments that were supposed to be in Jeff (target, theater, lowes) that I heard were originally supposed to be in Jeff but ended up in C-Ville.

  9. Been talking around town and the census is pretty much that the council once again screwed up. Most people thought this was a good project and investment and a plus for the City...

The cited excuses by the Council (traffic and fast food) are lame in most peoples opinion. But that's what you get when you elect idiots to positions that they haven't a clue about...

  13. A friend went to the meeting and didn't know much about the project or city council problems with the mayor. They said it looked like the council members went through one thing after another looking for something wrong with it. The representative from the developer was able to respond perfectly to everything. Since traffic was the last thing talked about they just hanged their hat on that and used it to kill the development.

This person also said they thought the council acted unprofessionally by making fun of Bryan Glover who wasn't there. Something about Dennis spinning Bryan's chair and making remarks about him running for commissioner.

  14. The City Council meeting report by Anonymous was an eye opener. If these guys haven't gotten it yet, maybe they will start to if they read this report. I would say man up!, but a big part of the problem is with the small minded women on the council. All of them should quit with the pettiness, and take a look at the big picture. It is what the voters elected you to do.

  16. "Something about Dennis spinning Bryan's chair and making remarks about him running for commissioner."

    Why doesn't that surprise me?
Oh yeah ... Because Dennis is a DICK.

  17. If Walnut Ridge were to get a cut of the profits from the project, it would have passed.
