Political Dirty Behavior ....Legal but Unethical ???

Former Clark Co. attorney for outgoing Co. Commissioners Greg Fifer (Curmugdeon) recently posted in the "Jeremy Mull For Prosecutor" thread on the Clark County Chatter and GAW about how we Clark Countians need to "clean house" at the prosecutor's office citing a case where an admitted sex offender plea bargained a deal for three years probation and no jail time by the Clark Co. prosecutor's office. Mr. Fifer went on to cite this as a "outrageous sweetheart deal" . While the BatBlog agrees this plea does seem rather lenient, this appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to cast aspersions at Rep. candidate and current Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull's candidacy. What Mr. Fifer conveniently omitted from both posts is that Mr. Mull did NOT even prosecute this case. When the BatBlog reminded Mr. Fifer that there were a couple of alleged seemingly  "sweetheart deals" during Mr. Fifer's tenure as Co. attorney and this appears to be a case of the pot calling the kettle black,  he went all ballistic calling BatBlog representative HT a "cowardly liar."

While BatBlog couldn't give a rat's Ass about what Mr. Fifer thinks about HT (he's been called worse by much better men than Mr. Fifer.) The BatBlog would like their readers to weigh in on Mr. Fifer's remarks concerning Mr. Mull and some of the alleged  "sweetheart deals" he himself may or may not have brokered during his tenure as attorney for the Co. commissioners. For those who may or may not be aware one of the alleged "sweetheart deals" one was discussed quite extensively on the Clark County Chatter Oh Ed Meyer , Really ?? with quite a bit of commentary by Mr. Fifer himself...Make up your own minds Legal but unethical a "sweetheart deal" ???

Of course Mr. Fifer though he resides in Floyd Co.and Mr. Bottorff works in Mr. Fifers firm is certainly entitled to his opinion and support any candidate of his choice and the Dem. candidate Robert Bottorff seems to be a fine, respected man and worthy opponent and did an excellent job as local Democratic chair. He certainly doesn't need dirty political insinuations and accusations to further his candidacy.

Special thanks to current Co. Commissioner Rick Stephenson for pointing out Mr. Mull didn't even prosecute the  a fore mentioned child molestation case to the Clark County Chatter readers. A lot of our local politics, supporters and politicians rely upon the lack of knowledge and unawareness of the electorate...

Stay vigilant and aware my friends....

  2. Is Fifer the guy who talked the airport board into suing Jack Vissing for following the previous airport board's wishes and not screwing an old lady extra hard after they took her land?
    That guy's a peach.

  3. He's the chief ...

This deal went down to let a
pervert who ruined a six year old child walk free in our community.

Where does the buck stop HT?

  4. Fifer either knew about the deal and looked the other way concerning Meyer's daughter getting those cheap tax sale properties. Or he helped them pull it off, nobody will ever know the whole truth. Maybe he feels like he was just defending his client, who knows. There was all kinds of shady and unethical behavior in that deal fake LLC's.and what not. I thought I read where some state agency was going to look into the deal, but you know how those things get lost over time.

Fifer was also involved someway in getting that highway worker Ross I believe, an under the table payment after the Co. Council had rejected giving him a raise it was taken the money out of some other account and only Fifer and the Commissioners new about it. Didn't even tell the council.

Don't remember the details on the property purchased for the airport but it cost the county boo coo bucks seems like Fifer threw all the blame on Vissing and said he was going to sue him to get the county reimbursed, another deal that just kind of disappeared.

I see where Fifer invited you ht down to discuss things at his office lol. While you are there ask him to break down how much money he siphoned off the taxpayers for his legal work have him break down the hours charged lol. There is a reason the county has gone to a full time salaried attorney.

These slick lawyers know how to cover their tracks, you can never pin them down on anything. Lots of laws are so vague these attorneys know it's open to interpretation which they capitalize and depend on. Legally borderline but completely unethical.

  5. We don't care about what fifer did

How do Jeremy and Bob view giving
a suspended sentece to a child molester?

Jeremy was the Chief. Does that mean anything? Did Stewart block him from making a decision on this case? Why did he let this happen?

  6. Stop blaming Mull! He wasn't the prosecutor assigned to the case.
I understand everybody is angry at the deal the child molester was given, as am I.

We should be angry at the prosecutor that drew up the plea agreement and put his signature on it. Also, at the Judge who accepted this ridiculous plea and didn't kick the plea out.

ANYBODY know who the prosecutor and Judge overseeing this case was?

  7. Jennifer Harmeyer drew up the plea and Judge Moore accepted the plea.

How is Jeremy Mull to blame for this?

  8. Jeremy Mull isn't to blame for this, but that's how Fifer/Curmudgeon operates.

  9. If a politicians lips are moving they are lying the same goes for the lawyers that represent them. Fifer, Young, and Meyer got caught red handed and lied like dogs in attempt to cover their asses.

Perkins, Meyer and Young will go down as the worse collective Comm.s in C. C. history throw them and Fifer in a bag and there is not a bit of difference in any of them

  10. Perhaps it was a legally weak case and the only way to get a conviction was to take a plea. It is always easier to revoke probation than it is to get a conviction anyway. Why is everything that happens at the prosecutors office Mr. Mulls fault anyway? Is not Steve Stewar the elected prosecutor? Just saying......

  11. Jeremy Mull is the chief deputy. Calling him the chief is misleading. He's not running the show.

Fifer should've explained how Mull was responsible for the deal if he wanted to be taken seriously. Did Mull make it? Did he tell someone else to make it?

Fifer is talking tough on the other blog, but we got your back, buddy.

  12. Thanks for all the comments everyone I thought this post would bring a lot of attention and it has.

While I try to bring attention of all the BS in local politics and the stories. I want to say I am not accusing Mr. Fifer of anything other than a cheap shot IMO of his post on the plea bargain deal he referenced.

By placing it where he did it appears to be a attempt to connect the plea deal somehow to Jeremy Mull the Rep. opponent of Fifer's business associate and Dem. nominee Bob Bottorff. I thought it was dirty politics...

The other stuff while he (Fifer) was attorney for the County ..I have heard accusations some of which were presented here and I have no idea if any of it is true....don't really care just wanted to point that out...

  13. Concerning the plea deal there's no way to connect this to Mull. And nobody knows except the parties involved why it was plead down so low....

Could have been a weak case, the parents might mot have wanted to have to go through a trial for the child's sake...lots of circumstances could be involved here..

You hate to hear cases like this plead down but it happens every day...

It was just a cheap shot to try and connect it to Mull, a desperate move by a candidate's friend who knows he's behind

  14. There was opportunity this weekend to check out the candidates qualifications.

You read it here first. Mull has pulled ahead in the swimsuit competition. It's the arms. Bottorff will need to hit the gym to catch up in the swimsuit round. He's doomed if the election hinges on an arm wrestling match.

  15. HT, if you want to make my last post another thread then by all means do so.

    Thanks for your service
    Rick

  16. I think if I was Mr. Bottorff I 'd tell Mr. Fifer to STFU ...people are tired of dirty political tricks and Fifer's attempt to connect Mr. Mull to the plea bargain most certainly is a dirty trick and will hurt more than help Bottorff...you can only assume that's his mode of operation...

  17. Yo Mr. Fifer. Where are now with all the outrage about Judge Carmichael being so lie next on a sex offender??? Oh, wait you can't bash her because she is not running for office. Mr. Mull clearly stated that he wanted the guy yo go to prison. What do you have to say about that? Don't be a one way brasher. If it is unethical, then it should always be unethical. Feel free to criticize all who do the same thing, don't just pick and choose.

  18. A couple of police officers apparently gave statements that the ped was actually a nice guy. He's not some pot smoking crazy! Heck, he can even babysit their children. That apparently made it all better with the judge. A couple of years on probation and he should be rehabilitated. Better yet, make him do some community service under the watchful eye of the community service director! More Clark Co. news of the weird.

  19. Community service in Clark Co. Is a joke. What are they gonna make him do drive the judge to dinner, or mow his grass?
