News/Tribune or The National Inquirer ???

I know it's beating a dead horse but one last gripe about the reality TV show "60 Days In." Every week the local newspaper News/Tribune plasters a story (usually on the front page) and live Blog of this weeks episode. Note to the News/Tribune...THIS IS NOT NEWS !!!.Most people the BatBlog included know that like 99% of reality series , this stuff is staged and not authentic. Stories have come out exposing the  actors/ participants for what they really are and one of the inmates filmed has stated scenes are shown out of context to falsely portray events in the jail as real.

Maybe the News/Tribune editors find this stuff interesting but readers want news in their newspaper not fiction. As reality series go this one isn't even halfway interesting. The producers have taken thousands of hours of filming and have taken isolated incidents and and edit them in to fit into the drama and stories their actors attempt to create. It's terrible and been exposed by numerous reviews , for a really good one CLICK HERE...

Trash TV that our local sheriff and newspaper tries to sell off as real, They are both either terribly naive or trying to capitalize on the misfortune and ugliness of jail for their own publicity and sense of fame. Sad and disturbing...

  1. Good link to the review, they nailed it. Reading the comments after the review shows how people feel about reality shows. You wonder how Noel could be so stupid as to believe this would be anything more than what it is garbage.

  2. HT:

Perhaps you have missed our critical looks at this show. Here are a few links:

A story about Robert, who denies he's an actor, despite an audition video of him we found online:
    http://www.newsandtribune.com/news/jail-show-participant-says-he-s-not-an-actor/article_b16f5160-ec8b-11e5-835b-77f3af74f6d0.html

Here's a story about DiAundre, who said he was upset that the show used editing to alter the reality of why he got into a fist fight. We were the first to talk to DiAundre -- WDRB interviewed him the day our story was already in print:

When you say, "stories have come out exposing the actors/participants for what they really are and one of the inmates filmed has stated scenes are shown out of context ..." you could very well be talking about stories that we wrote.

We are by no means trying to sell this show as reality. In fact, we have taken several critical looks at it and will continue to do so.

    Thanks,

  3. Sad and disturbing is right. Can't believe the people of Clark County are so stupid! The N&T doesn't seem to get it either. Noel is a joke.

  4. Thank you for your comments Elizabeth, and yes I did read the article on DiAundre and for the most part think the N/T as a local newspaper is well done. It's just the weekly articles on that week's episodes of "60 Days In" appears to give the series the appearance of legitimacy.

Most people know how these shows operate and how they are set up to create their own drama. I just feel there has been to much print given to something that doesn't deserve the publicity and that might make some feel it is a legitimate look at the jail when in fact it is a look created by the producers and their actors.

I do appreciate your input and thank you for reading The BatBlog...
