2016 Presidential Election ...How The BatBlog Sees It....Today Donald Trump

First of all I have to admit at FIRST I thought The Donald (Donald J. Trump) was cool. A non establishment, non political, shoot from the hip outlaw. As a blue dog Democrat I loved the references to "Lyin Ted" and "Little Marco" and the way he thumbed his nose at the GOP hierarchy and establishment. In a form of protest and the fact Hillary had the Dem. nomination locked up I even went so far as vote for The Donald  in the Indiana primary (first time ever voting Rep. in a primary.)

As time went on I realized pretty quickly that The Donald has no business being or even running for president or any office for that matter. Trump is the definition of and prime example of a demagogue, his picture should be include in any definition of the term.

dem·a·gogue
ˈdeməˌɡäɡ/
noun
  1. a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.
synonyms:rabble-rouseragitator, political agitator, soapbox orator, firebrand, fomenter, provocateur

He has no substance or definitive idea on how he would implement any of his mostly outrageous, undoable  plans (deporting illegals, building a wall, bringing back manufacturing jobs etc.) He has preyed on and manipulated his campaign on bigotry, fear and the public's dissatisfaction with politics and politicians in general. Trump has used name calling, misrepresenting facts and down right lies as a way of punctuating his divisive message,

If anyone with any intelligence listens closely to Trump the will realize that he is a hypocrite as well...preaching  bad trade agreements and foreign labor which he himself uses to benefit of his business world. Portraying his opponent as "Crooked".... but he has made millions by duping the public with business scams like Trump University. Flip flopping on almost every issue whenever it is to his advantage...

World leaders and allies are skeptical and in some cases fear a Trump presidency, and to me the biggest most telling thing about the Trump campaign and candidacy is the complete distance prominent  former GOP presidents, candidates and party leaders have put between themselves and Trump. Former presidents George W. Bush and his father George Sr., former candidates John Mc Cain and Mitt Romney along with this years candidates well respected Jeb Bush  and John Kasich not only won't endorse Trump but won't even attend the GOP national party convention this week ....which is unheard of in GOP and national political history....No Trump will NOT make America great again....

Tomorrow: Hillary Clinton

  1. And with all that said, he is now the GOP candidate for president.
So one must ask themselves this... is he worse that the Democratic candidate?
Hillary is also a known liar, and with the use of her foundation has taken cash from many world leaders.
Is she to be trusted, or is Donald the best of two bad candidates...

    1. I agree Woo one must make a choice...No doubt Hillary has baggage, no one who has been around as long as she has will be politically unscathed.

A lot of her issues have been embellished and overly emphasized by the Trump campaign to deflect from Trump's lack of a rational debate of the issues. Negativity towards Clinton is basically their only option, and it may work...

More about Clinton tomorrow on the "Award winning" The BatBlog

    2. Clinton will pick supreme court justices that will further move our country left or Europeanize the USA! Electric bills will skyrocket over the quest over stupid global warming. For that reason alone, I will be voting for Donald J Trump!

  2. Great post Ht you nailed Trump to a tee.

  3. Watching some of the republican convention every other word is about Clinton. Nothing about Trump's plans. This has to be the most hateful negative campaign in the history of presidential elections. A very embarrassing display and disrespectful to american voters.

    1. I think you're right Anon.and I think in the end that no substance to his plans will be his undoing. Negativity and demagoguery only go so far...but then again it worked in the GOP primaries... so who knows ???

    2. He has no realistic specific plans he throws out generalities and repeats the same things over and over because as ht said he is a simply a demagogue. By the way good post HT!

  4. After listening to the FBI director, there is NO way I could ever vote for Hillary. Would rather vote for anyone but her. Talk about "elite" and "above the law" --- no one worse than her. I will hold my nose and vote for Trump -- certainly can't be much worse than the last 8 years.

    1. The FBI director who both parties praise as fair said NO laws were broken. Mistake yes laws NO. Most of the "elite" and "above the law" actions by Trump were done in the business world and protected by bankruptcy laws..

Really sending e-mails over the wrong server vs. knowingly fleecing hard working people out of their hard earned money (Trump Univ.) and refusing to pay his debts by hiding behind bankruptcy laws....No contest

Actually the last 8 years have been good comparatively...unemployment down, stock market up, housing starts and real estate movement up, gas nearly 1/2 priced from 2008 ...51% approval rating for sitting 2 term president is record setting...

Where've you been ??? what you reading or who you listening to ???

  5. And this is why I have all the admiration and respect in the world for you, HT - you have the stones to stand up and say, "I was wrong (or "mistaken" in politispeak). I was a Bernie supporter for likely the same momentary knee-jerk reasons that you gave Trump an appreciate glance - no more "elite corruption as usual." But at that last moment in the voting booth something...call it a sixth sense if you will...made me stop short and realize that this wasn't an "election as usual," and that I had to take heed to a larger threat. Hell, even Ghandi suspended his Civil Disobedience Movement against colonial Britain in the face of the threat of Hitler and the fascist movement (which he continued after the world war ended). While I have been critical of her ties to big money interests, I have also observed the underhanded, ridiculous and obnoxious hits Hillary Clinton has taken from the far right since way back when I voted for her husband the first time in 1992. And let’s face it, Hillary Clinton is probably the most investigated woman on the planet. The conservative political machine has spent over $100 million investigating her over the last 30 years (starting in Arkansas when her husband was governor) and have consistently found…nothing. Benghazi hearing after Benghazi hearing has cleared her time and time again. The FBI has found no evidence that she broke any actual laws pertaining to the much TRUMPED email ‘scandal,’ of which many republican former officials would also be found ‘guilty’ (e.g., Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice).

But any criticisms of Hillary Clinton are very small potatoes, indeed, compared to the very real and monstrous danger we now face.

Make no mistake, dear ones, Donald Trump and his ignorant, hateful and violent armed mob are an existential threat to this country. While many may be of the opinion that a vote for Hillary would be a vote for ‘corruption as usual,’ I am convinced that the alternative would be an apocalyptic horror for both this country and the world at large, and I don’t believe that I am engaging in hyperbole with that statement, based upon the words/actions of the Trumpsters and the lessons of history. Trump and his mob are textbook Hitlerians who must NEVER be allowed to gain control of the powers of the presidency, and my conscience will not allow me to fail to do my part with my vote to ensure that they are denied that power. For me, any ‘danger’ of a Hillary Clinton presidency to this country would be as a stubbed toe compared to the sucking chest wound that would be the result of a Donald Trump presidency.

    1. if it weren't for all these false narratives about Obama and HRC, where would be GOP be, seriously? they have nothing to show for the last 8 years for any of their efforts.
perhaps this convention and Trump candidacy will be the thing that allows them to regroup and come up with some real policies and programs.

    2. Reading the above post by Cindy and I just have to laugh.
Democrats do not realize that they created Trump.
The Dream act, Sanctuary cities, EPA over reach / attack on coal,Fast and Furious,Creating racial divide, Attacks on the Second Amendment,Attacks on the first Amendment, Selling baby parts, the list goes on and on.....

Did they not think someone would rise to challenge them?

    3. Woo it's one thing to challenge the issues but to denigrate EVERYONE (even a lot his own party and true conservatives) in the name of his demagogic message is another.

He has no definitive answer for any of the issues you mentioned above and is why many Republicans just shake their heads and hope he doesn't damage the party beyond repair...

    4. How many things promised during a primary really come to pass?
I remember hearing something about "The most transparent administration in history", they did not even try.

I think most people underestimate Trump, and he is playing them like a fiddle.

Trust me, I am not for either one of the candidates, but it is obvious that between the two, Trump is the one who should be elected.

  8. Our choices are poor. Hillary is corrupt and incompetent, Trump is a loud bragard, who has his faults.
I will choose change! I will choose Trump!

  9. Ya'll just trying to piss me off with this false Trump/Hillary dichotomy bs.

Such a self-inflicted mess that mindset has caused. These choices are the products of your choices thus far.

Keep playing stupid games, keep winning stupid prizes.

  10. Was not a trump fan at all. Never watched the Apprentice. Hillary would never be my choice no matter who she was running against. I watched the Trump speech last night, listened carefully, read the body language and the "angry speech" rhetoric that is the talking point this morning sounded like determination to me. I think that is what scares many of you to death. I will be fair and balanced and watch Hillary's speech also. I will refrain from commenting until I hear what she has to say.

  11. What Cindi said above.

Also, I don't feel the way some do in that she's the lesser of 2 evils...I'm happy to vote for her and have no reservations about doing so...Sanders has my heart but I knew in the end I knew I'd have no trouble making the switch when that time came.

Trump is coo coo for cocoa puffs!!...He has bad ideas and an even worse temperament...A short attention span with no apparent interest in beginning to try to understand either domestic or world issues...He's a bully and vindictive, i.e. he decided to sit the Ohio delegates in the back of the convention because they had not supported him in the primary...Even though it's there state that hosted the convention.

He's a bigot, sexist, and xenophobic...I know there are some who say that's not true, that's not the real Donald Trump...But whether he is or not he's playing that song and dance to a crowd who are all those things...He's playing a dangerous game and apparently has no problem with that...No moral compass about it...And that almost makes it worse.

And finally he's a thin-skinned narcissist...And that was never more apparent than the press-conference he gave this morning post RNC convention...It was a long rambling mess where he once again aired all of his grievances with those he feels have maligned him over the past year plus...It was crazy...Mike Pence kept a look of dismay on his face as if to say, "This isn't what we were suppose to be discussing this morning...Where did all this come from??"

It's been said before but do you really want someone who has the disposition and attention span of a 3rd grade, someone who is too lazy to educate themselves about the office they aspire to be elected, and who takes even the slightest criticism personally X's 10, a bully and narcissist, leading the free world??

The difference in this election is that while I would always prefer a Democrat in office I can cope with a Republican...If McCain or Romney had won while not thrilled I wouldn't have been "afraid"...It's the way things go sometimes and they were both thoughtful competent men that just have different ideas than I do.

But, Trump and his lack of everything scares me...He is unfit for the Presidency.

    Something to chew on.
