Colin Kaepernick Protest

Just a quick thought on the protest by NFL player Colin Kaepernick and others of kneeling at the playing of our National Anthem. While The BatBlog disagrees with Mr. K's form of protest we also stand behind his right to do so. That is one of the freedoms ...(to express our opinions) we enjoy and won by the brave men and women who fought and many cases died for that freedom.

We think there is a better way and venue for expressing a protest about social issues...but then again he has the freedom to make that choice...

Mr. Kaepernick should also be thankful that he lives in a nation where he can be very well compensated monetarily for playing a game of football...something probably not possible in other nations that don't share the freedoms we are blessed with...

  1. I've always thought of kneeling as a show of reverence anyway...So I had no issue with it in the first place...He's just making a statement ( an important one on an important subject), but yet showing respect...( Sheeesh, he's not break dancing through the thing).

But even for others see it differently than I do, he has the right to do whatever he wants because of all the things HT stated...It's how this country rolls.

He does seem like a spoiled brat.
How much is he making to PLAY football?
Not very respectful of the great American system.

A different venue would have better served his American
protected rights to address his "cause and motivation".

It is said that he was manipulated, a.k.a. "brainwashed",
by others into this. A sexist female BFF?

Is his current contract for $16,000,000?

He is protesting and interfering with the employment of a lot of people.

He is protesting on private property
    and obstructing others' rights.

The symbolic protest is especially distastefully disparaging
the great and unselfish acts of the tremendous American military.

    Hands up! Don't Shoot!
The police ARE shooting lots-0-people nowadays
and his right to protest and his comprehension
    and expression is VERY understandable.

We all are aware and we worry what will happen in the future.

A.)The police have a very difficult job.
    B.)Our rights are very important.

When a law enforcement office goes to work on his/her shift,
they are in danger. It is a tough job with a lot of responsibility.

Today, many law enforcement officers are also not well trained
in the skills of respecting members of the public.
Times have changed as the older officers have retired.
    I have watched it.

A.)Many are VERY disrespectful of the public they serve.
B.)Much of the public is disrespectful of the officers,
    especially in the big cities.
    A dangerous interactive process.

Perhaps the "entitled, spoiled NFL 'professional' and very well paid athlete"
should have thought of a better venue
    for his expression.

His protest has interfered with the rights and employment of others,
and he has not been respectful to out great military.
(His "backhanded denial" is not felt to be genuine by many.)

It might have been wiser to pick the courthouse in San Francisco
and have a press conference and then take a "symbolic knee".

Some feel that would have served his effort and been a better path.

Certainly, he could have put his entitled butt on the line in Baltimore,
    Charlotte, St. Louis, Chicago, etc.,
and joined the dedicated REAL protestors
    "On the front Lines"
    of significant and dangerous descent
    against the Establishment.

Is 'Taking a Knee' genuine dedication to the cause?
It would have made his "way too safe and distant from the real effort"
    seem much. much more genuine.

    The Easy, Spoiled Way Out?
Lets see if he has the true American 'Cajones'
to join the brothers and sisters,
    of all races and backgrounds,
in the Movement against the Establishment.

He could actually get his entitled butt onto the front lines.

His 'taking a knee' seems rather ingenuine and fake.

I doubt that we will see him on TV joining the real protests.

  3. I don't buy the whole spin of how it's disrespectful to our troops either...I'm pretty certain my sailor doesn't feel disrespected because of this person's actions either...That's what they do what they do for...The right to this type of freedom...It's a form of peaceful protest and it's not hurting anyone.

  5. Football is a team sport. He puts an unwanted spotlight on the NFL, and the 49ers program. It is a business. I agree with an earlier post....go to the courthouse, have a press conference, don't hurt your teams ability to draw fans to the seats!

  7. I agree with points made by several posters...Jules is right I don't see it as disrespectful to our troops either..It is the freedom we have because of their (troops) efforts.

I also agree with Kevin the venue (football field) in my opinion isn't the right place but on the same behalf again he has that choice in our country to protest as he sees fit.

A lot of professional athletes are spoiled and should probably be more grateful for their opportunities and chose to participate with the masses in peaceful protest...rather than at his work venue...

  8. Wrong place to express.
He was rude to others in their workplace.
He has an American right to protest, but his venue is intrusive and selfish.

I certainly agree with his right to protest,
but by inserting himself into "a selfish publicity seeking stunt'
and by interfering with others' private rights and employment,
    he harmed his own effort.

The protest was not well thought out and was very "Tepid".

He could have gone to a suitable public access space
such as a courthouse steps, etc.,
    to express the protest beliefs.

Is he really 'Down with the Struggle'?

Or just a spoiled, very rich athlete ?

    Better yet,
as the NFL Fan pointed out above,
he could have wisely skipped the 'Safe White Bread Knee Drop'
and actually 'Joined the Struggle against The Man'
on the front lines in the marches with my Brothers and Sisters
    from all backgrounds.

Kapernick: "I have great respect for the religion,
know a lot of people that are Muslim
and are phenomenal people," he said, via USA Today.
"But I think that (rumor of conversion)
comes along with people’s fear of this protest,
as well as Islamophobia in this country."

    Hot 97! Girl Code!
For a couple months, rumors have been swirling that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's girlfriend is radio and MTV host Nessa Diab. Neither side has confirmed the relationship, but they were spotted together in July and others have since reported that they are dating. If that's true--and again, it's just speculation and rumors at this point--they would make quite the power couple. While Kaepernick, 27, can be inconsistent, he remains one of the most dynamic, athletic and entertaining quarterbacks in the league. Nessa, 34, is a host for both Hot 97, a radio station based out of New York, and "Girl Code," an MTV television show. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her bachelor's in Mass Communications at just 20 years old, Nessa has quickly become one of the more popular, empowering voices in media. He also specifically addressed his girlfriend being an influence on him.

"The impact is just conversations that we constantly have," he said. “This is an open discussion that I have with many people, not just my woman. She is Muslim, her family is Muslim, I have great respect for them. I have great respect for people’s right to believe what they want to believe. And I don’t think anybody should be prosecuted for judged based on what their beliefs are."

The Bat Blog is very timely once again
with the analysis of the path
    of the pro football player
    taking the safe knee
    protest route.

    Nessa Diab: Hot 97!
There are rumors among the West Coast Media Persons
    that K's girlfriend, Nessa Diab,
from MTV's “Girl Code” and a famous Hot 97! celebrity ,
does have some serious INFLUENCE over the rich NFL player.

    Where is Tammy?
The info about the football girlfriend
    reminds the dedicated readers
of the Award Winning Bat Blog
    about H-T's neighbor Tammy?

    How is she?
    What is she up too?
Any new photos of her interesting...activities...?
I remember that she liked fishing a lot.

Sooo, is Tammy missing? Or what?
    Dude, what is the update?
We need photos of her activities more than of the spoiled NFL brat!
We already got to see a photo and get the 911 on his girlfriend.

If the way cool Bat Blog covers
the Kapernick dude disrupting the NFL workplace
with his childishness and wrong placed protest,
we also need to get an update on Tammy,
Hoosier Taxpayer's single mother neighbor person.
    Tammy counts too.
