Gee Oldgoat any suggestion of where the money comes from to build these tens to hundred thousands of institutions to lock up and "institutionalize" to protect our society from these "addicts."
And which addicts should we include ??? hard drugs, marijuana, pain pills, alcohol, gambling, caffeine ??? Better make that about a million new institutions if you include every addiction listed above or is some addiction OK with you.???..Or maybe we could just "institutionalize" insensitive assholes like you to protect you from those evil addicts.
If your really ex law enforcement Oldgoat you should know that U.S. law enforcement, has already been locking up addicts and casual drug users for years in the so called "war on drugs." Guess what Oldgoat it doesn't work. Our jails and court system are filled with addicts,users and dealers and the problem is still growing.
Addiction is complicated, the dynamics of who and why will become addicted is unknown, and let's face it almost everyone in someway is addicted to something or some kind of behavior. That's unless of course you are one of those holier than thou individuals/ assholes like Oldgoat.

I hope oldgoat never has the ravage of having a loved one or family member become an addict.He might have a different opinion if he did. Locking a loved one in an institution isn't the answer.

How many "right-wingers" support the right of people to marry whomever they wish? How many professed Libertarians have treated you in the manner in which you describe? I guess I'm really just upset over the overuse of the word "libertarian". Making one libertarian leaning statement does not make you a Libertarian anymore than quoting scripture makes you a Christian. I'm not looking for an apology. ReplyDeleteHT, for someone that so readily denigrates the intelligence of others and myself, you apparently have a reading comprehension level somewhere below 4th grade! No where in my posts did I suggest confining anyone for being an addict but ONLY those that continue high risk behavior such as unprotected sex and intentionally pitching contaminated needles where they are a threat to others AFTER knowing they are infected! The state of Indiana recently started a nationwide public information message aimed at truckers informing them of the threat of infection from hookers at the rest area on I-65. I can't help but wonder how you would feel if your child or grand child got stuck by a contaminated needle, God forbid! By the way, I sometimes tutor grade school children. If you decide at some time to try to advance your reading comprehension by a grade level or two just give me a call. Oh, and I personally don't care if you think I was a police officer or not. You are irrelevant to me!
