Down The Stretch We Come ...Election 2016

Things are getting interesting as Election 2016 hits the final few days. The presidential race nationally appears to be tightening as does the Indiana Senate race. The latest polls have Bayh and Young neck and neck with the momentum in Todd Young's favor. Trump will win Indiana that's never been in question but surprisingly to The Batblog  the latest polls have Shelli Yoder trailing Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth by 3 points in their 9th dist. house race.

The only Democrat who seems to be avoiding the Republican trend here in Indiana is John Gregg who according to the latest poll is 4-5 points ahead of Holcomb in the gubernatorial race as we enter the final few days of campaigning.

The GOP trend is also very strong in Clark Co. as well....Trump is up by 8 points in the county and The BatBlog wouldn't be too surprised if the GOP has strong showings in the few county races on the ballot. Vissing and Hubbard are Dem. incumbents who could get some stiff opposition from the Rep. candidates and we see one Rep. at least being elected to the council...Even the coroner's race where Coots have held the office forever could get a strong effort by Billy Scott the Rep.and the County commissioner's races are in the bag for the GOP...It will all be over but the celebrating come Tuesday.

Don't forget to Vote !!! and if your a Democrat you might want to vote often...

  1. Surprised and very disappointed to find out that Kevin Vissing is a Trump supporter. On his facebook page his top likes right now are "President Donald Trump" and "Hillary for Prison." When challenged on that by a friend who is a Democrat, he said that many "good" Democrats were voting for Trump and then blocked my friend and others who were questioning his support for Trump and pointing out that you don't have to "like" Hillary or even vote for her, but supporting Trump is another thing altogether when you're running as a Democrat. Thank goodness I haven't voted yet because I would have voted for him if I had not seen this.

    2. Yeah Cindi that is a little disturbing, maybe Kevin will hopefully come on here and explain his support. Of course every person has the right to vote for who they choose, but as a sitting Dem. office holder you would think you would be more discreet about a conflicting choice.

If this is true I may have to rethink my vote as well, I think Kevin has done a good job but Trump doesn't have Democratic values...It poses a dilemma for me

  2. So just because you claim to be a democrat or republican you should vote for a candidate even if you don't like them? Blind loyalty like that is what has gotten us where we are. I am a republican and not really a Trump fan but will vote for him because the democratic candidate is even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Wait a second, just because a person "liked" a page on FB doesn't mean that is an endorsement. I "like" on pages I want to have come up in my news feed. And, parsing the language here, it is simply a fact that many Democrats support Trump. But, that isn't the same as saying he does or that they should.

But, given what you have said, if he is supporting Trump then hell with him. He needs to
answer this and make it clear. Does he support his party's candidate or is he in with the
    sad folks who support Trump.

So challenge to Vissing: Who do you support for President?

    ReplyDelete
  4. So he should just blindly vote for her just because she iand he are both democrats? That's just stupid. He, as with all of us, should vote for who HE thinks will do the best job. This blind loyalty to party over ideas is what will be the death of this country. I love my wife dearly but that doesn't mean we agree on everything.

    1. What? Are you a child? Vissing is a Democratic Party leader. If he doesn't understand that means he has to show loyalty to the party that brought him then he needs to go. TO. HELL. This is not a private citizen. He is welcome to run as an independent. But if he is going to run and accept the party benefit ... he DAMN SURE ought not support the party leader's opponent.

Meanwhile, if he really is dumb enough to "Like" Trump... and support him then he has no business in any leadership position. Please Mr. Vissing...accept the challenge above and tell us Cindi is wrong.

  5. Apparently Vissing doesn't have either the stones or the integrity to meet that challenge, Anonymous. When asked directly by a couple of people on facebook, he dodged the obvious with that lame "many good Democrats are voting for Trump," bullshit and then blocked them. And it just makes me wonder - are the members of the Clark County Central Committee aware of this and, if so, are any of them "secret" Trump supporters, as well? If so, a thorough housecleaning and fumigation of the party leadership is in order, in my opinion. An office holder or leader in the Democratic party not liking or supporting Hillary is one thing, but supporting Trump is absolutely unacceptable.

    1. David Abbott...Not surprised though.

Spotted at the Trump rally in Louisville ( as well as posting pictures of it on his FB page...He also appeard on WDRB, and FOX also I believe, to explain why he as a Democrat was supporting Trump.

Perhaps he's changed parties since then...If not, he should.

I honestly don't see how even a "bad" Democrat could support that man.

      Delete
    2. Doesn't surprise me.
Kevin has always been good at dodging.
Probably why he's been around so long.

  6. A "fumigation" of local Dem. party leadership has been overdue and needed for a long time. Kevin in his position shouldn't be publicly endorsing ANY Rep. candidate no matter who the candidate might be. Now what he does in the privacy of the voting booth is his own personal choice.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This raises another question for me. I don't recall any of our local leaders in the GOP come out and say whether they endorse the monstrosity. Last I heard, they were behind Cruz. I would like to hear from all the officials on whether they support the 'pussy grabber' or not. Show some leadership!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Parties usually have rules against candidates, officers and officials endorsing candidates of other parties. That may be why he was dodging.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Remember Jack Vissing and Tom DeArk getting in trouble for endorsing Republicans and the messiness downtown when Dem precinct chairs signed an Independent's petition to run.

  10. Wow. Congratulations Kevin. You just lost my vote.

  11. So I am a child, he can go to hell and anyone that likes Trump is stupid? Ok Hitler, thanks for point out our faulty thinking. Party over everything.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes. Apparently your understanding is actually on the level of a child. I am not saying that to insult you or others that think this way. Most people have more personally important things to take care of and not much time to inquire into how ideas get translated into action. Today, snappy sound bites shape policy as pols say whatever 'the base' wants to hear. The base isn't stupid...but it is childish.

A very simple principle of party politics is that leaders need to demonstrate leadership. Is Kevin a Democrat or not. He's not just endorsing Hillary (or Trump) but the ideas and ideals they represent. It's childish to support someone because they
are pretty or have a nice name or seem like a good person to talk to. Because if they still represent and will enact corrosive policy the nation or state or community will suffer.

Personally it is contemptible that a person who has benefited by being a member of a party would adhere to that party but, for self serving reasons, oppose the party leader.

In fact, in my opinion such a person can just go to HELL.

      Delete
    2. Cindy boo hoo? Oh, my, how very clever. If personal attacks are all you have to defend Vissing, then what you have is essentially nothing.

Donald Trump is most definitely not “just one Republican." He is the Republican candidate for the highest elected office in the country, whose positions are completely contradictory to the ideals of the Democratic party. If Vissing is supporting Trump, then he needs to be honest enough to admit that he no longer supports the ideals of the Democratic party. Nothing wrong with that, but voters need to know the truth so they can make an informed decision

As has already been pointed out, Vissing isn’t merely a private citizen, he is a sitting elected official running for re-election as a Democrat. In the voting booth he is, of course, free to make whatever choice he likes as a private citizen, but as a candidate representing the Democratic party his public display of apparent endorsement, or at least approval, of Donald Trump makes him a traitor to the Democratic party whose support and assistance his current and past campaigns have benefited from. If his ideals and principles change so easily with whichever way the local political winds are blowing, then he is nothing more than a political windsock – hollow and easily steered by momentary gusts of air.

Hillary is now the subject of five different federal investigations, think about that for a second.

Expect to see more of this trend on Tuesday.

There are also those who feel Trump is a criminal and some of his alleged actions seem to bear that out. I do agree that one shouldn't blindly follow your party ...think for yourself and vote accordingly.

As a Democrat I have been disenfranchised of the local Dem. party and it's leadership for several years. Local Dem. party is doing nothing to remedy the alienation of the rank and file voters which are the heart of the electorate look for Dem.s locally to sink farther and farther into oblivion...

    That is funny and entertaining.

'Cindi Loo Hoo' certainly does support the Democrats,
but she has been "uncalled for nasty"
toward brother KV with things like:
    ....."Depolables"....
    ...."makes him a traitor"...
...."Vissing doesn't have either the stones or the integrity"....
    ...."a political windsock – hollow

It is strange that a hard working, honest, and dedicated local Democrat
like Kevin Vissing is attacked with 'a gust of hot air'
by the Cindi Boo Hoo fellow Democrat personage.

Donald J. Trump reflects the values of many honest
and hard working American citizens that vote both Democrat and Republican.

That is why he has changed the election so much.
He is fighting to save the future for all Americans.

The facts are that Kevin always works diligently as a councilman,
works to support the local and state nominees of the Democrat Party,
spends his time and money, campaigns door-to-door,
puts up signs, speaks, attends meetings with many citizen groups, etc.
He is always visible and available to the public.
He has the stones of his beliefs and positions.

    The local Democrat party apparatus
is very weak and ineffective and Mr. Vissing
is one of the few Democrats that actually tries to help them.

    Mr. Vissing
and many others have gained knowledge of the Clinton's corruption.
Even with the extensive, years long cover ups by the mass media
    and many Democrat operative sycophants,
Mr. Vissing has courageously and publicly expressed
his motivation to not support the "Crooked bribery Activities" of HRC and WJC.

    It is commendable
that KV does "have the stones" to be against the Clinton Crime Family.

Why in EIGHT LONG YEARS has President BO not broken with HRC and WJC
and directed the DOJ and FBI to have a full and complete

    2. Goodness, I must have really hit a nerve if the personal insults hurled at me with all the cleverness and artful wit of the average middle schooler is any indication.

I must say, though, that I do agree with Posthole Digger about one thing – the local Democratic party apparatus is, indeed, very weak and ineffective. Perhaps that’s because they long ago abandoned their Democratic party values for the goal of personal political power and have remained obstinately hide-bound regarding any attempts to revitalize the party by actively recruiting and welcoming fresh talent with fresh faces and ideas, which the “old guard” must fear would eventually phase them and their hold on power out. But that is exactly why they have lost so much and are now down to holding so few offices.

They do not attempt to rally their base and the public at large by passionately espousing and appealing to the values of the Democratic party. In fact, they act as if they’re ashamed of being Democrats and continuously try to mimic the opposition, rather than contrast it, by offering a “Republican-lite” weak tea alternative to voters. I’m no marketing expert, but it seems pretty clear to me that offering yourself as a watered down version of something that already has a stranglehold on the market isn’t exactly a winning strategy.

And as far as me being a nasty woman? My dear, you have no idea…

What I do have a problem with is him being a Democrat office holder, running for re-election as a Democrat with support of the Democratic party, yet apparently supporting Donald Trump, of all people, over his own party’s candidate for the presidency. I could list about a hundred reasons why Vissing's support of Trump is a bridge too far for me, but the number one reason is it indicates a lack regard and respect for women. It doesn’t matter and, in fact, is none of my business, who you actually voted for, but the appearance of those links as liked on your page has the same effect as supporting them, in my opinion. I have nothing against you on a personal level, as I am not acquainted with you, but each voter has to hold to their own standards and conscience.

      I don't recall that."

A third Anonymous retorted: "City council is not this election. Check last election genius."

      This forth Anonymous,
is also pointing out as did the second Anonymous,
that there was no city council Democrat candidate running
for the county council in 2016 that "ran uncontested for jeff city counsel(sic) last time".

      Seems pretty clear.
