It looks like Kevin Vissing has won re-elelection to the Clark Co. Council even though he as much as conceded last night on The BatBlog. It appears Kevin has edged out fellow incumbent and Democrat Joe Hubbard by .01 % of the vote for the last at large spot on the council. I assume this is official as the vote counting in Clark Co. last night was a real cluster f _ _ _. A hundred million presidential votes counted before Clark Co. could count 50,000.
A recount may be forthcoming but Congratulations are in order to Kevin if these results are final...
Didn't have to be that close Kevin. But you decided to align yourself with the slime that is Trump, you would have had more votes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that is the case at all... if anything Trump hurt all Democrats, it was a GOP whirlwind... Kevin never publicly supported Trump. Very few voters knew anything about the Facebook controversy. Any Democrat who won last night has to be commended for their resiliency and popularity with voters.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the way Trump ran his campaign but will give him a chance
I can tell you that is the way it was in our home. Voted for 2 and left the third blank where we would have voted for Kevin.
ReplyDeleteThe EN called late last night and said I was down and counting was about over. They wanted my thoughts. I assumed I had lost.
ReplyDeleteSo I graciously told everyone the same and wished JH good luck.
At 745am I get a call from TG telling me I won!
What a ride!!!!!
Maybe Trump supporters voted for me after Cindi posted that, or maybe I lost votes. Who knows. I guess I'll thank Cindi for helping me win!
Drain The Swamp!
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell, every county in the country has absentee ballots. Why was our county about the last one in the country to tally votes it took all night?
ReplyDeleteI think Clark Co. uses an abacus to count votes...
DeleteWe are very short on funds. We are looking at replacement of our election ballot system in 2017.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Kevin!
ReplyDeleteI voted for Trump and Kevin.
ReplyDeleteKevin Vissing
ReplyDeletewas the only Democrat

I love the way President-elect Donald J. Trump
ran his campaign and took on the entrenched governmental types
in BOTH parties AND the terribly biased media and deceitful pollsters.
"Make America Great Again!"
"Drain the Swamp!"
Clark County government's funding sources
are still going to be restricted for many years.
The Clark County Clerk's office,
under the excellent management of Susan Popp,
has completed many streamlining and efficiency updates.
She does an excellent job and the elections are very fair, honest, and open.
The machines they use are really ancient technology
and are way past the time to retire them.
They are struggling to still function.
I never liked those particular machines
when they started using them 25 years ago,
and they need to go whenever the funding can be obtained.
Ms. Popp and the bi-partisan election board
retain 100% paper ballot backups for the inevitable
close races and recounts.
The paper ballot backup system should always be maintained in the future as well.
The absentee ballots were counted at the county courthouse
by the election commission's representatives,
rather than at each individual precinct,
to ensure enhanced accuracy with a uniform review process,
and a thorough bi-partisan review.
That is a sound method
even though it is a little slower
because of the paper absentee ballot process.
A more satisfying "Instant gratification" of results
will come when the new machines are fully funded
sometime in the future.
My blend of being in the middle having both liberal and conservative friends worked out.
ReplyDeleteI think Joe Hubbard having a military and police background gave him a boost as well.
I'm surprised Republican D Reiter didn't get pulled to victory by the Trump Train.
Thanks for the nice words. While I admit I'm not a financial guru, I do have common sense.
ReplyDeletePersonally I have no debt, and do ok. How many can say that!
You know it's bad when an elected official uses the remarkable ability of spending less than he makes as a qualification for running our city.
ReplyDeleteKevin - you didn't really just use your ability to spend less than you make as a qualification to lead a city did you?
