The Trump Presidency...
Unlike the over the top, radical and divisive campaign ran by Donald Trump in this year's presidential race, look for the Trump presidency to be a watered down version of things he promised. Don't look to soon for "The wall" or a mass extradiction of illegal aliens or even high paying jobs returning to the U.S.
The BatBlog will certainly give Trump a chance to "Make America Great " and hopes for the best. One needs to realistic though....these campaign promises may be undoable even with a Rep. majority in both the Senate and House. The reason is simple ...money. A wall across the Mexican border would cost billions and his claim Mexico will pay for it is not plausible. Deporting illegals will involve a massive amount of manpower and money as well. The notion that companies will magically just move jobs back to America is unrealistic also.
The one thing Trump could influence is Obamacare, no doubt it will be changed to some extent but the idea he can make health insurance affordable while covering pre existing conditions is a pie in the sky promise that like most of his proposals may be mere dreams and campaign rhetoric...
Washington D.C. moves slowly so any changes will take time. The BatBlog unlike the right wing with Obama will give Trump his due and every opportunity to come through with his campaign promises. We hope we are wrong about his policies and they work for the betterment of everyone like he promised on the campaign trail....

Trump supporters, not the majority of Americans, elected this fool. They were had. All the rest of us now have to suffer along.
ReplyDeleteHillary popular vote lead is now at 1.1 million. That's amazing. Trump certainly cannot claim a mandate to undo all of Obama's initiatives. That's not what the majority of people in this country want.
I'm still hoping for an Electoral College miracle where people of good conscious bow up and act ugly to Trump, and vote for Hillary. I can dream.
I hope Trump changes his rhetoric and does well...The thing is his rhetoric and dirty campaign tactics have killed any chance of his getting any respect from most Democrats right now. He will have to earn respect by changing course...Can he do it, be respected by the masses ??? Only time will tell he has a huge mountain to climb...
ReplyDeleteThe system worked like it was supposed to.
ReplyDeleteIt has always been the electoral college votes that count.
In Obama's own words to the GOP..... (Trump voice) Get over it, I won.
Snowman, I realize the election did not go the way you wanted, but accept the fact that Trump is going to be the president for the next four (maybe eight) years.
He can in fact roll back all of Obama's executive orders if he feels like it.
That's the way a Representative Democracy works.

ReplyDeleteAmerica was close to a total collapse into a totalitarian Marxist nation.
It is truly amazing that a great candidate like Donald J. Trump
came along and was able to defeat the evil and corruption.
He has provided a means to save the country.
The president elect and the new congress have a lot of work to do!
Wish them well.
Trump could have easily won the popular vote, but didn't go to liberal states. He played the cards delt to him very well. Also there may be 2 million illegal votes for Clinton.
ReplyDeleteThe befuddled MSM and the spoiled insiders
ReplyDeletein the Marxist Democrat party always want the persons elected to "change Course" and continue the destruction of our economy and our freedoms.
No. The opposite is going to occur. They must now cooperate.
The American people have said to Mr. Trump:
"You are Hired!"

Bat Blog Government TEACHING Moment!
"There are 50 United SOVERN States
each with a PROPORTIONAL percentage of votes assigned by POPULATION
that can be used in the election by the states
for president."
There is an actual election
under the concept of a "Popular Election of Electors"
that is properly assigned by PERCENTAGE of population to each state.
It can not be exceeded.
Remember what you were taught in school
about the greatness of America and the reasons for our Electoral College ".
Proportional Fairness
Each of our sovereign 50 states are assigned a number of electors
and proportional votes determined by the actual DECENNIAL CENSUS
and EXACT population
of each state determined by the last ten year census.
Each state, by exact population PERCENTAGE of citizens,
has an exact PROPORTIONAL number of electoral votes
based upon that decennial census.
The reason we have an Electoral College System is to prevent
any state from running up a large vote that is at the moment disproportionate
to the maximum amount of PERCENTAGE of the vote BY POPULATION
vote that they can have according that has been determined
by the EXACT census.
The tyranny of these potentially large run-ups could disenfranchise
the percentage of the vote that is allowed as a majority
by the votes cast in EACH SOVERN STATE.
The voters total percentage by state is protected
in each of the United 50 States of America.
The brilliant system
protects the rights of all citizens
while ensuring the rights of the 50 individual and sovereign states.
Ask HISTORY: What's the Electoral College?
When Americans vote for a President and Vice President, they are actually voting for presidential electors, known collectively as the electoral college. It is these electors, chosen by the people, who elect the chief executive. The Constitution assigns each state a number of electors equal to the combined total of the state’s Senate and House of Representatives delegations; at present, the number of electors per state ranges from three to 54, for a total of 538.
Summary
Aside from Members of Congress, and persons holding offices of “Trust or Profit” under the Constitution, anyone may serve as an elector.
In each presidential election year, a group of candidates for elector is nominated by political parties and other groupings in each state, usually at a state party convention, or by the party state committee. It is these elector-candidates, rather than the presidential and vice presidential nominees, for whom the people vote in the November election, which is held on Tuesday after the first Monday in November. In
The Constitution gives each state a number of electors equal to the combined total of its Senate membership (two for each state) and House of Representatives delegation (currently ranging from one to 52, depending on population). The 23rd Amendment provides an additional three electors to the District of Columbia. The number of electoral votes per state thus currently ranges from three (for seven states and D.C.) to 54 for California, the most populous state.
The total number of electors each state gets are adjusted following each decennial census in a process called reapportionment, which reallocates the number of Members of the House of Representatives to reflect changing rates of population growth (or decline) among the states. Thus, a state may gain or lose electors following reapportionment, but it always retains its two “senatorial” electors, and at least one more reflecting its House delegation.

Enjoy, compliments of the Bat Blog!
The brilliance of our Founders is reflected in the beauty of our Electoral College.
DeleteThanks for the post.
What dirty campaign tactics are you referring to? Perhaps getting the debate questions sent to him in advance?
ReplyDeleteIf the Electoral College was eliminated, Liberal large cities would almost always elect the Liberal Democrat for President. Why of course......Democrats wanto it eliminated. Sore losers!
ReplyDeleteTrump was harping about the Electoral College before the election...If the the outcome was reversed Republicans would be complaining as well...
DeletePerhaps we would complain but we would not be marching in the streets and starting riots like the alt. Left is doing.
DeleteYou're just guessing no way to prove that...
DeleteThis is what happens when we give trophies for finishing last!
ReplyDeleteYes. We wouldn't want those educated, successful "city people" guiding our country.
ReplyDeleteBilly Bob on the farm knows much more about the world than any of them.
Woo... of course I accept the facts. I'm a liberal, after all.
ReplyDeleteWe may have complained but you can bet your bottom dollar there would have been no rioting (protesting) ahem.
ReplyDeleteThat's mere conjecture... something that can be never be shown to be true or not.
DeleteA LOT of republicans did not like it when Oboma won ( either election ) but there no protests or riots.
DeleteProtesting peacefully is ever American's right it's what we were founded on....You might not like the protesting but be thankful you live in a place where you can....
DeleteLook everything will be fine no mountains will be moved or earth shattering policies. Our government is set up were one person has very minimal control. Our nation has gone on and been strong through good presidents, liberal and conservative presidents...very little changes by the hands of one man and Trump is funny so everyone relax...
ReplyDelete"look everything will be fine"... That's pure conjecture as well, HT...
ReplyDeleteHey... Hillary popular vote lead now at 1.42 million. That's something right there. Not done counting all the absentee votes.
You're right SM but I have confidence in our system that one guy can't fuck it up lol...
DeleteNot all states count the absentee votes, so we will never know who won the popular vote.
DeleteNot easy to take. Trump hiring a cast of GOONS to exercise power. Jeff Sessions? Jefferson Beauregard Sessions at Justice? OMG
ReplyDeleteRoll Tide!
