Handicapping The Democratic Party Chair Race...

Clark Co. Democrats will caucus in a new party chairman on Mar. 4. This is a long overdue move to replace Tom "Bulldozer" Galligan. Reportedly three names have come forward as possible candidates to lead county Democrats into the future. Josh Rodriquez, Dustin White, and Diane Swank are people most commonly heard as a possible successor to Galligan...

The BatBlog handicapping expertise rates these named candidates in this order...

Josh Rodriquez (Even money favorite) ...Reportedly Rodriquez a Jeffersonville City councilman is endorsed by Galligan. This makes Rodriquez as the odds on favorite because the caucus is stacked with Galligan friends and supporters much like Jamey Noel stacked his GOP caucus with friends , co-workers and relatives.

Dustin White (3-1)...  White local attorney and also on the Jeff city council has been involved in Democratic politics for a long time and The BatBlog feels would be a good choice moving forward to lead local Democrats, but his non ties and rumored feud with Galligan make him the second choice in our handicapping the race...

Diane Swank (25-1).... Nothing against Ms. Swank but her ties to "Toxic" John Perkins make her a long shot. Her odds would be much higher but this same democratic caucus did caucus in "Toxic" John to the Clark Co. commissioners position several years ago even after "Toxic" John finished a poor dead last in the public election...So who knows...

Whoever wins The BatBlog gives their full support as this will be a challenging job and position. Republicans have dominated lately locally, nationally and in the state, and unless Trump's presidency is a complete disaster The BatBlog doesn't see any quick move back to democratic domination.

Whoever wins has to be energetic, dedicated and resolved  to recruit new, young, blood and candidates into the democratic fold and help change policy and the ideology that has caused the erosion away from the Dem. party...Good Luck to the winner...he or she will need it....

  1. Rodriquez will win. Galigan's support will put him over the top.

  2. I agree...nothing against Rodriquez as he may be good for the job. My problem is these caucuses are stacked, like in this case old Galligan cronies and supporters. The obscure precinct committeemen jobs that form these caucuses have been manipulated for years by politicians.

It will never happen but the chairmen of parties should be elected by the rank and file party members, not by a few precinct committee persons that might have ties to a particular candidate...

Not sure if Rodriquez would win if party regulars voted on it...

  3. Tom Galigan will still control the democrat party.

    1. If that's the case then local Dem.'s will sink further into oblivion...That's one of the concerns I have with Rodriquez, will he be his own man or a Galligan mouthpiece ???

    2. There was a minor discrepancy about the spelling of his last name in the city council election that the GOP tried to make an issue of. I forgot the detail maybe Q instead of G ...It was a non issue really....

  5. Galligan's endorsement undermines any appearance of change for all but the most inner party faithful. If change is needed, Josh can't be the way to go.

    1. Totally agree this has Galligan manipulation written all over it...These old washed up politicians like Gilligan and Perkins just can't let go...either out of stupidity or their fragile egos. Meanwhile the party goes down the toilet.

  7. I don't agree that a Galligan endorsement means that Josh cannot provide the leadership needed.
Just don't see that at all.

  8. Don’t know about the alleged Galligan endorsement/manipulation. I can only speak to what I personally witnessed/experienced. Went to my first Clark County Democrat Women’s Group meeting on January 24th. Apparently for years a turnout of about 10 –15 people was a big deal and they weren’t expecting the flood of people that showed up. The January 24th meeting was standing room only, out-the-door turnout. Sat at the same table as Diane Swank. She seemed to be a very nice, pleasant, refined lady (which, as you all know, I am most definitely not). When she was introduced she stated her name and that she was running for chair. Very nice and polite. Dustin White was not at the meeting. His loss, I say.

When Justin Rodriquez was introduced (very average looking dude – nothing special, totally working class, looked like he just came from work at his blue collar job) and was given the mic to introduce himself, he became a MAN ON FIRE. Totally rocked it off-the-cuff and galvanized the entire audience. In my opinion, that’s the kind of spitfire, can-do and will-do attitude from the chair that the Dems need to revitalize and reconstruct the party. Maybe Galligan is, at the end of his run and in his retirement from the chairmanship, doing the right thing for his party and supporting a Young Turk that can turn things around. Of the three running for the chair position, Josh Rodriguez would be my choice at this point. He gave out his telephone number on the DPCC facebook page and I called and spoke with him for about a half an hour. You all pretty much know me from my online history, and I can guarantee you I asked him some VERY pointed questions – which he answered to my satisfaction, even though he was caught off guard, as it were.

Unless the other two, particularly Mr. White, make a splash before the caucus/voting (and I’m waiting until the last minute to give them that chance) which convinces me that they have the moxie and integrity to guide the party to a “phoenix rising from the ashes of the old” rebirth, I will be calling my precinct committee and vice committee persons and encouraging them to vote for Josh Rodriguez as the new party chairman.

Oh, and before I forget - Goliath, my lackey, you need to post my comment here as a feature article on the vassal blog I now rule as your Queen, presented as a “New Clark County Democrat Party Member” feature, giving my perspective (and others, as I will do my part, as your Monarch, to encourage other party newbies to visit the site and give their perspectives, as well) as I experience this journey as a formal member of the local Democratic political party. This will perhaps serve as a component to strengthen and revitalize the GAW News (now DBA as the New GAW News™) blog. Am I not merciful?

  9. Hoosier Taxpayer
    has had a canny nack
    of picking the local
Clark County races in the last half decade or so.

    HT posted:
"Josh Rodriquez, Dustin White, and Diane Swank

"The Bat Blog handicapping expertise rates these named candidates in this order":
    "Josh Rodriquez (Even money favorite)".....
    "Dustin White (3-1")...
    "Diane Swank (25-1)"....

    Hmmm.....JP
    says that it is over,
that DS has it in the bag
and brand new leadership is ready to emerge with her.

    The Clark County
    Democrats Facebook page posters
appear to be solidly behind JR and feel
that their confrontational/outspoken style will take over
the CC D Party with new leadership.

    Dustin White
    is a strong leader
and will bring new ideas into the fold.

    The thorny question
in the corridors of power is:
'Where does famous local legend Jeffersonville
bookmaker Pesty Flannigan place the race?'

  10. Soooo, "cindiloohoo has successfully pulled a "Hostile Takeover" of the Once great GAW News Bureau?
I saw something on GAWnews.com about that.....

Can it be true or is the Poet Warrior Giant Goliath still in power,
safely ensconced at the Ritzy GAW News Compound
    on Nantucket bay?

  11. Thanks for the input Cindi very informational...Rodriquez will win and I wholly support him and his effort to resurrect the Dem. party. He's young and appears to be energetic and I hope dedicated because he has his work cut out for him.

I hope he is his own man cuts every tie from Galligan and starts from scratch with his own ideas and people. Complete grass roots reorganization is what is needed as old politics isn't working and nothing short of a disastrous Trump presidency will turn it around quickly.

    I wish him luck...

As for GAW, with your hostile takeover maybe you can breath some life into his blog which is on life support. The BatBlog also welcomes and invites you to be an insider correspondent about the goings on and actions of the local Dem. party. Queen Cindi your humble servants look forward to your wise word and presence...

  12. You are a strong, wise, vigilant and respected leader in your own right, HT, and I wish at this time to extend an offer of diplomatic relations to you, as we share a common culture and ethic. I offer you unwavering loyalty to what I hope to be an alliance in perpetuity.

Also, too, an alliance with you would provide a platform for a proxy war should the vanquished Giant unwisely decide to attempt to resist and barricade me from the land that I have rightfully claimed by conquest.

  14. Just a reminder Democrats will elect new precinct committeemen next year, 2018. You have to file in January for the primary in May.

Republicans won't have a choice for chair. Jamey controls the numbers to either give it to himself again or hand pick his replacement. Even if someone else were potentially interested they most likely wouldn't want to put that target on their back. The party faithful would see it as UTTER TREASON to even challenge their master. The naive soul foolish enough to try would forever be a black sheep.

  24. Bat Blog Hillary Indictment Watch
The Bat Blog Exposes the Crooked Hillary-Russian Uranium Deal

The FBI and the DOJ have the goods on Crooked Hillary
and the Clinton Crime Foundation. The kickback deals to he Clintons from the Russians buying the uranium mining rights that she brokered while SOS are just one example of the extreme corruption. BHO is complicit. AG Jeff Sessions will convict HRC, Slick Willie, and several other persons involved with crime foundation.

Even the New York Times outed them:

Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal
By JO BECKER and MIKE McINTIRE
    APRIL 23, 2015
The untold story behind that story is one that involves not just the Russian president, but also a former American president and a woman who would like to be the next one.

At the heart of the tale are several men, leaders of the Canadian mining industry, who have been major donors to the charitable endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family. Members of that group built, financed and eventually sold off to the Russians a company that would become known as Uranium One.
As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium One’s chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations as well.

And shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Mr. Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock.

  25. The extreme way the "Marxist Front Organizations " operated by the Clintons, Soros, BHO, and the Fake News Media are unfairly treating AG Sessions and President Trump is astounding.
The extreme nasty behavior will ensure
that that several from the BHO administration days
and members of the Clinton Crime Foundation are indicted, convicted,
    and brought to justice.
