Election 2012 Dist.7 School Board - How We See The Race

Becka Christensen
Several interesting races developing in the GCCS Board election. First we'll look at the District 7 race between the incumbent and former president of the board Becka Christensen and recent Jeff mayoral candidate Teresa Bottorof-Perkins.
Teresa Bottorof-Perkins
This could be a close race, and the recent poll of the BatBlog seems to bear that out. Perkins has excellent credentials with many years  of experience in both education and administration duties. She also received a lot of publicity in her recent run for the Jeffersonville mayor's office.
Christensen on the other hand has made a name for herself as a dedicated board member who has the best interest  of the children and parents of GCCS at heart. She hasn't always aligned herself with the majority as was the case in the recent dismissal of Dr. Daeschner.

While not overlooking Ms. Perkin's excellent background, we here at the BatBlog like Ms.Christensen's blue collar attitude and way of doing things. One has to wonder how much the name Perkins might also hurt Teresa's chances, even though it should have nothing to do with  her campaign.

The BatBlog predicts a close race but feels Ms. Christensen will win this race and the BatBlog endorses Becka Christensen in the Dist.7 GCCS board race....

  1. HT is that all you got? Becka is "blue collar" and voted contrary on the Dr. Daeschner deal? C'mon.

You admit it that Teresa is head and shoulders over all the candidates. Her credentials and her personal character qualify her to be Governor for goodness sake. HT you are wrong (again) and Goliath is right. Teresa is the right choice.

  2. Teresa is a fine candidate, very qualified and would make a good School board member.

Becka is a very good candidate as well it's a shame these two fine ladies have to run against each other

  3. It is kind of a shame that we have to choose between them.

  4. I agree with you on most of what you say here HT. Both of these ladies are very strong candidates and they would both be good on the school board. However, I agree with Goliath that Teresa Perkins is the best choice. The good news is that District 7 wins either way because they will have a good representative. The bad news is that the board will lose in the long run because only one of these candidates can win.

Having sais that Teresa is the best choice because of her experience. I know Becca has good experience but While Teresa was with NAFC Silver Street Elementary became a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. New Albany High became the model school that other schools in the state and the country are following when it comes to credit recovery programs and getting at risk kids to graduate. These are hard things to ignore when making a decision and in my opinion they put Teresa over the top. She is who I am supporting.

  5. My contention is Becka's hard work and dedication deserve being rewarded with re-election. I would have no problem with Teresa sitting on the board I think she would be great...
