I King Bulldozer anoint ye Sir "GOP", Clark Co, Dem Chairman....Long live the King |
The same tired, old caucus of Gilligan Democrats out of touch with the rank and file voters have once again doomed Democrats to obscurity in local elections for the foreseeable future. The BatBlog saw this coming but was hoping a come to your senses moment might hit the Democratic caucus after suffering embarrassing beat downs time after time in local political races.
Moving forward Clark Co. Democrats now have Rodriquez who as little has 2 years ago was a Republican leading them into the future. Jamey Noel and all GOP members must be having a "laughing their asses off " moment as the stumbling , bumbling opposition appoints one of their republican castoffs to be the party chairman.
We the rank and file Democrats continue to watch in amazement as Galligan caucuses take the once powerful and proud Democrat party into further oblivion knowing the light at the end of the tunnel is a on rushing GOP train ready to splatter us in future elections. Former deceased once powerful local Dem. leaders are spinning in their graves at the ineptitude and ignorance we have running their once proud party into the ground...
Yes "another sad day for local Democrats" !!!
"Remain Vigilant"
They have no clue nor care about the average voter. I guess I will start voting straight republican until things change.
ReplyDeleteI've voted strait Republican since the Carter fiasco/fail....sunvab**** 'bout starved me ta death......
DeleteNo serious person cares whether Josh, before he was a political name, flirted with running against Mayor Moore or not. What matters is what he stands for now. Everyone makes mistakes. Goliath. Even HT.
ReplyDeleteWell, hold tight because change is headed your way. As per Rodriquez's platform, the ultimate goal IS change. Change occurring with commitment and consistency - unification of the party once again. He exemplifies leadership through his example of community involvement. He practices what he preaches and I feel the party will reach new goals if his vision is embraced. Great choice for the job at hand! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWelcome OceanBlue, I hope you're right, but is has to be COMPLETE change. If Galligan doesn't just completely walk away and the caucus replaced the perception will be he's still running the show to us the rank and file voters...
DeleteWhat exactly is his Platform? It has never been stated. If you would, articulate it for us. Fluff does not win elections.
DeleteMosley, serious Democrats do care if the "leader" of the Party really wanted to be a republican. It's a question of shared values.
At this moment in time, we have a Chair that 14 months ago wanted to be a republican (he told me in person so there is your verification) and a Vice Chair, Katie Miller, who signed a petition to run a republican against the Democratic Nominee in the general election. (I have the Petition she signed so that is verified as well).
That is not Leadership.
I respectfully disagree, I have zero problem with Mr. Rodriquez switching parties it's done all the time. There is still the perception though of opportunism because of the circumstances. You also have the Galligan connection which is concerning. The party caucus was predictable as it is still lined with Galligan Democrats.
ReplyDeleteI'm not alone in the thinking of rank and file Democrats that long time loyalty and service is a prerequisite for party leadership. It's fine Josh being a City councilman I voted for him, but he hasn't paid hid dues or shown long term loyalty for the position of chair IMO.
With all that being said I wish him well and hope he can turn things around...I'm still a Democrat but my faith and trust must be earned. I hope he stands on his own and not a Galligan surrogate, bringing in new members, candidates, and encouraging others to run for precinct committee persons so we voters have choices and not stand on the laurels and relying on being put in place by the old guard Galligan caucus.
My prediction sadly is nothing will change... I hope I am wrong.
Nothing will change. There will be a full assault on the currently elected precinct committee persons next next by the one's Galligan appointed to vote for Josh and this will cause further division within the party.
Delete*next year
DeleteExcellent outcome today! Rodriquez has a goal in mind and will strive to succeed. He is the epitome of an exemplary leader through his dedicated involvement and consistency. Party unification and igniting the desire for action by future generations. How could those goals be met with opposition? Congratulations are in order! And, yes, with true change comes mistakes; however, if unity exists then the outcome at the end of the day is the focus. As both a supporter and admirer of Mr. Rodriquez, I have the utmost faith in his decisional capacity, strength, and encouragement he has been tasked with providing. He IS the best and right decision!
ReplyDeleteRodriquez provides a young, fresh take on those old standards. While this change will not come easily, what all leaders require is support. Please don't allow your pessimistic attitude toward unforeseen change come between you and your support. Be that change you want to see. It starts with us all. He will be the catalyst.
ReplyDeleteI think ocean blue might be out to sea lol.
ReplyDeleteI think oceanblue may have gotten too much sun lying on the beach.
DeletePrayers for Josh.
Clever! While we may not agree, I appreciate your friendly humor.
ReplyDeleteRodriguez had a supposed heart attack as he left the caucus. I hear he is going to be ok. The widow maker type blockage. Prayers for Josh!
ReplyDeleteIt has been reported that Josh has suffered a heart attack and is in Clark Memorial ICU.
ReplyDeleteSad news here's hoping for the best for Josh...
ReplyDeleteDAAAaaayyyum !.......WOW.......
ReplyDelete(the dude's current status.....)
Tom's interference in the process makes the results tainted. Nothing has changed just more division.
ReplyDeleteMark me as disappointed in the caucus.
DeletePolitics aren't that important when your health is concerned...Wishing Josh a speedy recovery !!!
ReplyDeleteIf you think Josh will be owned by Galligan, you are dreadfully misinformed. I see some sour grapes.
ReplyDeleteLots of Sour Grapes.
“Moving forward Clark Co. Democrats now have Rodriguez who as little as 2 years ago was a Republican leading them into the future”
ReplyDeleteHT, this is an unsubstantiated claim. I think for the time being you should reconsider spreading this accusation about Josh being some sort of stealth Republican, which apparently is an assertion initiated and promoted by the Republican party chair’s wife. I’m sorry, but I’m just going to have to take any unverified Democrat-smearing claim from Jamie Noel or his wife with a giant boulder of salt and, as a Democrat, you should, too. If the Republicans are working this hard to smear a Democrat who appears to have popular support and has energized the party, it must be for a pretty good reason – which sure as hell isn’t that they care about the integrity and viability of the Democratic party. If nothing else, ask yourself this – if what Ms. Noel says is true, then why the hell didn’t the Republicans hammer Josh with it when was running for city council as a Democrat? I can understand you taking a “wait and see” attitude with Rodriguez, considering your understandable skepticism of Galligan, but this just doesn’t pass the smell test for me.

Cindi did any body bother to ask him at the caucus if this is true ?
DeleteI have heard it from more than one source and supposedly it admits to it.
I hope he succeeds if you read my comments..He needs to be his own man and try and bring together the factions that have developed through this process...
My concern right now would be his health ...I wish him luck in his endeavor and a speedy recovery...
Josh finished in 4th place out of a field of 6 for at-large council. What part of that do you not understand Cyndi?
DeleteAnd there were up to 28 invalid votes for Josh in the reorganization. How can we say anything about our opposition?
DeleteEveryone wants to see Mr. Rodriquez make a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe reports seem to be very good that he will be able to return to work
at his job as a nurse. That is very stressful with the day-to-day obligations
and responsibilities, I am told. We are all praying for him.
Bat Blog County Chair Races Historical Analysis
Politics is ALWAYS contentious, very stressful, and highly competitive.
Most contests for the Clark County Democrat Chair have been very competitive
behind the scenes and often in the actual votes.
Al Reschar passed away in 1969. The very capable Ralph Stemler
took over on an interim basis until there was a new chairman elected
in May of 1970.
That race was hotly contested during the period between
the Primary Election in early May and the selection of the new chair.
Mayor Richard Vissing's brother-in-law, Mr. Utley, and Daniel F. Donahue,
and the Democrat nominee for CC prosecutor were the candidates.
Mr. Utley decided to withdraw on the morning
of the pending vote on a Saturday
in May, 1970. Mr. Donahue
then was then elected
to the position.
Not "Sour Grapes"; Rather it is "ETERNAL Competition".
There are always factional divisions,
competing personalities, and varying interests.
The competiton goes on. The concept is not really one of "sour grapes",
but of one of an "ONGOING political competition".
The position of CC Democrat Chair is a lightening rod
for criticism just as is the position
as the CC Republican Chair.
Bunch of Sour Grapes or bad Whine
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter who the democrat chair is it will be a long time before they are in contention again. The decline has been steady over the last several years.
ReplyDeleteYeah any change will be slow in coming only a poor showing by GOP leaders will reverse this trend...
DeleteBat Blog Historical Analysis
ReplyDeleteYes, the 'ongoing political competition' is always 'eternal'.
It will continue to go on among factional divisions,
competing personalities, and varying interests.
Remember the old "city-county" fight in Clark County?
Or the Western section of the county against the Eastern section of the county, and both of them against the various Jeffersonville Township factions?
That has become
much more blurred as the R party
has ascended to power and the D Party
has declined in significance.
Rodriguez = Galligan Lite
ReplyDeleteThe reports seem to be very good that he will be able to return to work
ReplyDeleteat his job as a nurse.
I don't know where you get your "reports" from but he is still in ICU nearly 5 days after having a heart attack. Speculation as to when or if he will be able to return to work would be ill-informed and highly dubious.
Thanks for the update TR...here's hoping the best for Josh and his recovery...
ReplyDeleteMr. Rodriquez was transferred to Norton's in Louisville.
ReplyDeleteThere they discovered that the tube CC Mem had placed down his throat was clogged. He is now sitting up in a chair and breathing very well. He is getting stronger.
The reports
that he will be able to return
to his dedicated job as a nurse are not meant
to draw rude, dubious, and hateful comments. People closer
to the family are getting good news.
Mr. Rodriquez is a very nice person and we are all praying for his full recovery.
My apologies if I hurt your feelings. Wasn't trying to be hateful. Just truthful. Yes, Josh's improving condition is wonderful news.
DeleteThat is great news !!! Thank You for the update...
ReplyDeleteDustin is now running for Dem 9th District chair.
ReplyDeleteGo Dustin!
ReplyDeleteIt was more of an opportunity to express my views to a party in deep trouble. The status quo isn't working and someone has to stand up and say it along with a plan to change it.
ReplyDeleteThe outcome was as expected but at least someone told the truth about where democrats are.
Many people talk about how great things are but they are not winning elections.
Sorry to report Josh is gone. RIP He was a good man.
