The Final Nail ??? In the Democratic Coffin...

The BatBlog has talked before about the blatant manipulation that goes on in the party caucus process. Once again this apparent abuse of power in our opinion may be raising it's ugly head here in Clark Co.. Current Dem. chair Tom "The Bulldozer" Galligan has been accused by city councilman and candidate for C.C. Democratic chairman  Dustin White of stacking the deck against Mr. White's candidacy by appointing 13 vice committee people  "last minute" to ''skew " the results.... according to White.

The Galligan  appointed (13)vice committee people allegedly do not even reside in the precincts they represent. The News/Tribune has verified as true that 8 of the 13 do not reside in the precincts they represent... no addresses could be found for the remaining 5. White is asking for in a petition that  all 13 appointees be removed.

According to Indiana Democratic Party rules, a county party chairperson must appoint vice precinct committee members "in that precinct" to fill any vacancies.

Verification by the state Indiana Democratic party of the rules so far has not been clarified, but by the way it is written Mr. White appears to have a good case and once again Galligan appears to overstepped his position. Whatever the final decision is the whole precinct committee person system stinks, it is open to be continually manipulated by those in power (current chair). It is no secret that friends , relatives, co-workers are routinely talked into running or appointed to these precinct and vice committee  people positions and it is done by both the GOP and Dem. parties.

In the BatBlog's opinion this is just another instance in Galligan's  taking the local Democratic party to the edge of oblivion in the local political scene. It is no secret Galligan's apparent dislike and feud with White but that gives him NO right to allegedly stack the deck against White's candidacy. Just when Democrats need solidarity to work together the most, Galligan seems determined as his last move as chair is to splinter the party even more and  possibly drive the final nail into the local Democratic coffin for the foreseeable future...RIP

    1. Exactly right he can't let go, he thinks he is the party and rather than wanting democrats to succeed he will take party down. He could not stand to see the party successful without him. That is how he rolls

  2. Yeah it's sad...the people, all the people should elect who is their party chair without it being manipulated behind the scenes by one person.

  3. Wrong. Dustin is walking through this with a 99 pound chip on his shoulder. Tearing up the party. Recruiting precincts is the chair's job.

    ReplyDelete

    1. No chip, just holding people accountable. I already corrected the removal of one vice chair, with cause or reason, by Galligan. To be honest, had he not done that, I probably would not have noticed his other discrepancies!!!

    2. If you read the party rules the appointees should reside "in that precinct". According to the N/T article that is not the case.

Galligan is notorious for not following rules and regulations and Mr. White is well within his rights to ask this be do fairly and within the rules of the party...

  5. Galligan by taking sides in this is creating more factions in the party. His job as chair is to bring everyone together. If he has a favorite he should keep it to himself.

  6. Well, it doesn't seem getting his ass kicked in the mayoral election was enough to humble Galligan or make him change his ways. Still can't follow the rules.

    1. What about his association with the Illumaniti, the New World Order and the Alien Lizard People? Shouldn't that be counted as "common knowledge" as well? I mean, after all, someone "around town" said it (me, just now), so it must be true, amirite? Once again...where's your actual proof? Or are you just pitching a pocket full of quarters when you're actually only loaded with a pocket full of dimes?

    2. If that's the case sounds like Mr. Rodriquez may be an opportunist, wanting to be the captain of his own ship even in this case of the ship sinking...

That's another good reason also to put Mr. White as chairman of the party...we know he's a lifelong, loyal Democrat. You might know Galligan would pick a Republican to throw his support behind...

I want A Democrat leading my Democratic Party...a true Democrat not one that's a Democrat when the situation suits him...

Vote for Dustin White for party chair !!!

  11. As you noted, HT, "if that's the case," (which has certainly not been proven) Rodriguez may well be an opportunist. However, I must remind you that Mayor Moore has been a little (well, more than a little) shall we say, "slippery" when it comes to party affiliation, and yet you seem to be mostly content with his performance as mayor.

    1. It appears to be true Cindi... a confidential source of mine just e-mailed me a copy of a comment Jamey Noel's wife made on Facebook, where she state Rodriquez requested to her husband Jamey to run as a Republican.

I am content with mayor Moore's performance and his situation of changing parties in my opinion is totally different.

First of all he was running for mayor not party chairman...big difference IMO

Secondly in MM's first attempt for mayor in the Dem. primary it appeared the Dem.s were loading up the ballot to split the vote in an attempt beat Moore. Moore made a brilliant move again IMO of switching and avoiding skewed results that can occur in large fields of numerous candidates...

Rodriquez's move may be brilliant as well but I can't support a Republican as Democratic chair...I can support a Rep. as mayor but not as my party's chairman...

      Vote for Dustin White !!!

  12. Also, too, you betcha, as your "inside operative" in the Clark County Democratic Party, HT, I must relay to you that on our official facebook page Mr. White has made statements such as:

“I have a great career, I'm an elected official and I beat folks in the Party” (how very Trumpian of you, Mr. White)
“Btw, I'm an elected official, it's your job to work with me.” (Ummm…no, Mr. White - again, how very Trumpian of you - YOU were elected by US…it’s YOUR job to work with US)

And then there is this exchange, which I found to be, shall we say, disturbing (I have used XXXX for the name of the party Mr. White engaged with in order to maintain their privacy)

XXXX: I was actually signed up by Dustin White to be a Vice Chair probably 3 to 4 years ago. Really had no idea what this was about. I have never been informed of anything going on until recently and it was never by Dustin. So yes people are getting signed up for things and not told information. I will be there on Saturday!

    Mr. White’s reply:
Dustin T. White XXXX:, in the interest of full disclosure, you are a longtime friend of Josh Rodriguez and you had conversations with him as well before you agreed to be a Vice Chair.

(I must point out here that Mr. White obviously had NO problem at the time with signing up this person as a vice chair).

    1. I fully explained to you your role as vice. If you did not understand the information I gave you over the phone, I have always been available to answer any of your questions. I never received one.
    2. If the current Party leadership never included you on any information that was sent out, your complaint is with them, not me.
    3. There is an assumption in your comment that something had been 'going on', I don't think anything has been going on which is why we have been losing elections.
    4. If I was the Party Chair, and if I become Party Chair, the precinct persons will be fully trained, given the tools to recruit new democrats, register voters, and get out the vote. Since I wasn't Party Chair, and since the leadership would not setup a Jeff City Committee, I could not do those things.
    5. Who knew, that reaching out to you to become a part of this great Party would result in your comment above? It is noted.

Now, Mr. White may have made a few valid points in his 5 part answer to XXXX, but what really disturbs me is point #5 – specifically the implied threat, “it is noted." Excuse my French everybody, but fuck that shit. Mr. White will NEVER have my vote for ANYTHING again after that not-so-veiled threat.

    3. The name of person labeled "XXXX" is Amber Curry Ridings.
What is clearly wrong in this person's understanding is that "Party operatives" work to support elected officials and that was the point of the comment. The actual comment was "it's your job to work with me", not for me. I do work for my constituents but that was not the context or the discussion.
lastly, it was a great victory when you think that the Democratic Nominee has to beat the folks working against him in the Democratic Party. Katie Miller and Josh Rodriguez were a part of that and now want to be in the leadership.
And it is fact, that Josh Rodriguez asked the Republican Party Chair to run as a republican against the Mayor and, once denied, at large. It was the reason he was not reappointed to the Plan Commission. These are facts not subject to debate.

  14. As far as Jamey Noel's wife's comment on facebook...I will take that with a boulder of salt, HT. As I understand it, at the time Rodriguez was running as a Democrat for a seat as city councilman. What better way to undermine him than by making a claim such as Noel's wife's that he allegedly requested to run for mayor as a Republican? Seriously, think about that for a moment...he's running as a Democrat for city council with basically no name recognition at the time, but he allegedly also tries to do a "stealth" deal with Noel to run as a Republican for mayor? It could go either way, of course, (the cynic in me is, as always, alive and well) but it just doesn't pass the smell test for me. Your mileage may vary, of course.

    1. No the comment was made recently concerning the upcoming Dem. chairman's race. I believe that his request to run in the GOP mayors race was before his council run. I of course have no way of knowing if Ms. Noels comment is true or not but in the context it was made it seems very much legitimate...

I believe earlier in another thread you said you talked to Mr. Rodriquez if you contact he is more than welcome to share his side of the story with The BatBlog...we would look forward to his comments..

You know I respect your opinion, we just see this a different way..

  15. I don't take that as a threat Cindi so we'll have to disagree on that.

You are very much entitled to your opinion but Mr. White is a lifelong, loyal Dem. Mr. Rodriquez apparently isn't... that decided it for me... Voting for a Republican for office is a whole lot different than having I guess you can now call him a former Rep. being Party Leader of the Dem. party...

    1. I heard Rodriquez didn't vote in the previous republican primary was the reason he was denied a spot on the republican ticket. Was he a democrat before he wanted to be a republican? Did he vote republican in the election he was denied a slot? Did he vote in the democrat primary before he ran as a democrat? Did he even vote? So confusing!

  16. Well, HT, I feel the same way about Kevin Vissing as far as being a Republican in Democrat clothing, but I can see and agree with your point about having an unconditionally loyal Democrat as the party chair - I just disagree that Mr. White fulfills that expectation, as I get the impression from him that it's all about...him...not so much the party. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the outcome is tomorrow. Maybe Diane Swank will dart in from the outside and crush them both as a "dark horse" candidate, so to speak, because their partisan support among the precinct chairs/vice chairs has cancelled each other out.

    Let's see....

Tom Galligan ALLEGEDLY doesn't care for Dustin White.
Dustin White ALLEGEDLY does not care for Mr. Galligan.

Mr. White, as a very sharp attorney,
    has completely exposed the impropriety
of the thirteen (13) vice committee chair appointments
    being allowed to vote.

Any vote by them could be be challenged in court.
White vs the famous and legendary David Mosley possibly?

Talented newcomer Josh Rodriquez is challenging Swank-Perkins and White.
The knowledgeable Swank-Perkins, who is married
to the very capable John Perkins himself,
is running for the Chair slot.

Perkins is allegedly NOT happy with Galligan
    for not supporting Diane Swank
for the Chair. Mr. Mike Forsee, another talented attorney,
could be the attorney for Perkins-Swank if the "allegedly improper votes"
throw the race away from Ms. Swank.

Rumors of possibly three very good lawyers, Mosley, White, and Forsee,

I know everyone says party affiliation in local politics doesn't matter...Perhaps in a sense it doesn't, but if the party you're choosing to run under doesn't represent your values, ( OR more importantly you can't represent theirs ), you probably need to reclassify yourself or become an independent...You need to stand for something...Fence straddling for any length of time is very difficult and probably doesn't serve anyone very well.

  33. Here's my final take until we get the results... Rodriquez may be a good, young man but IMO his candidacy is tainted in two respects. First his obvious ties to Galligan who even before the national GOP dominance took the party to depths.

Second the loyalty factor, it appears the Dem. party was his second choice, that isn't consistent with a strong party leader.

Diane Swank as well might be a strong ,independent woman and a loyal Democrat but rightly or wrongly she will be forever tied to "Toxic" John Perkins who is a pariah to rank and file Dem. voters.

Dustin White respected attorney is a lifelong , loyal Dem. who deserves and has earned the shot at the chairmanship due to his dedication and loyalty. His ability to work with both parties is an attribute mot a detriment...

IMO we have a clear choice... Dustin White to lead Clark Co. Democrats.
