Can Anyone Bring Local Democrats Together ???

UPDATE
*********************************************************************************************
The BatBlog has learned that Diane Swank didn't stand up at the last Dem. meeting in response to candidates for the Chairmanship (of course she could still run). It has been confirmed Kate Miller  current vice chair  will run for the chair but still no word on Dustin White's intentions. Also Josh Rodriquez's wife Meredith will run for Josh's vacant city council seat against veteran Ron Ellis.
********************************************************************************************************************************************
Sadly local Democrats will have to re-caucus Sunday April 9th to elect a new Clark Co, chairman after the tragic death of  recently elected Josh Rodriquez. Officially no one has declared interest in the vacant position. The BatBlog would think that Jeff City councilman Dustin White would still be interested in the position as would Diane Swank both of whom ran against Mr. Rodriquez in the earlier caucus.

In a last minute political move White threw his support to Ms. Swank in the earlier caucus. Will Mr. White run  his own candidacy this time or again support Swank ??? Mr White  checks into The BatBlog on occasion so hopefully he will give us an answer... Also according to the News/Tribune vice chair Kate Miller is also considering a run at the chairman vacancy.

The earlier caucus was marred by allegations of manipulating the precinct committee and vice committee persons by former chair Tom "The Bulldozer" Galligan. The BatBlog hopes  "Bulldozer won't interfere with the process and allow the precinct committee people to think on their own and vote their conscious and the best person to unite the party.

The BatBlog endorsed Mr. White for the position earlier and if he decides to run again believes he deserves and has earned the right and is the best man for the job. There is no doubt the Democratic party is fractured on several levels (local, state , national) right now...but with the right leaders and party unity there is no reason Democrats can't return to prominence and elect people to bring honor to public service again...

  1. Galligan will tell the committee people he appointed how to vote and they will vote accordingly. Galligan does not want White to have the chair and will do anything he can to deny it to him.

    No.....

  4. Galligan isn't telling them how to vote since he has no power to appoint or remove anyone anymore. So far as the Dems coming together, it seems to be happening. Event turnout is at 3 to 4 times what we've seen in recent years. Someone better text Jamie Noel

    1. Many of those in place were appointed by Galligan, they in the past have voted his wishes and will again. I'm pretty sure Noel isn't too concerned about any democratic emergence anytimein the immediate future.

    2. Dustin White sucks up to Republicans too much to suit me. You can bet that Dustin will have no Republican competitor's in his next reelection.

    4. The events mentioned are CCDA meetings, not fundraisers. The growing turnout means more folks are joining.

  5. Councilman Dustin White won his Democrat Primary in 2015.
Subsequently, a group of "disgruntled" power brokers within the Democrat Party,
recruited a third party candidate to run against Mr. White in the General Election.

Councilman White won easily against this small manipulative faction
of the Democrat Party that recruited the third party candidate.
The same small, ineffective group of Far Left "activists"
are still controlling the Democrat Party and have
    actually increased their hand.
    The years of 2018, 2019,
    and 2020 do not
    look good
    for
    them.

Mr. White is doing an excellent job as a Jeffersonville City Councilman
and it is really killing the manipulative souls
of the small, hateful Democrat faction.

Oh my, that's funny!!...In general I'm much more liberal than most Clark Co. Democrats that I know ( which isn't a knock at them )...But, I certainly don't consider myself far left at all either.

Nice try though...Thanks for the giggle.

It is beyond a....'giggle'... for sure.
R Chair Jamie Noel just laughs
      at them.
      He won't have to break a sweat in 2018, 2019, 1nd 2020.
The Democrats are without a rudder and heading into another whirlpool.

    5. Oh my!!...That's some radical stuff being said there alright...Your description of the discussions in that group are spot on.

      Oh brother. smh

( And I was actually thinking there might be an actual "Far Left Activist" group I wasn't aware of in Clark Co. ).

But, then I clicked the link and ROFL'd as the aforementioned group is actually one of very respectable, engaged, intelligent, and community focused individuals.

And now I've gone from giggles to ROFL.

    Rodriquez (D) got 5,090, Ellis (D) got 5,076, and Webb got 5,072.
    Cooley trailed in sixth place.
Rodriquez, Ellis, and Webb were only 18 votes apart
for the third council seat after the original tally was completed,
    a really close race.

After some very highly contested re-count analysis of the results,
Webb was seated and then Rodriquez replace him.
There is still apparently some legal maneuvering left.

    Ron Ellis
    finished very close
in the city wide contest and is now running
for the slot via the Democrat precinct caucus.

The intrepid Fair and Balanced news hounds

  11. After what I witnessed at the last caucus, with respect to my Petition to follow the rules, I have no desire to be, and am not running for Chairman.

My time will be better spent, serving my constituents!

Ron Ellis will fill the vacant at large seat. I would support Meredith 100% should she choose to run in the next election.

  15. Unfortunately, Meredith lost the council seat to Ron Ellis by a few votes (only Jeff precincts were allowed to vote and they are still controlled by the dinosaur GOB club). The GOBs were out in force and smugly patting each other on the back after that vote, but their smug smiles were soon wiped from their faces as their effort to have Diane Swank take the chair with an assist from the "split the vote with Pepper Cooper tactic" failed and Katie is now chair. So, HT, we are now one step closer to breaking the hold that the GOBs have on the party.

That is a "Fake News" analysis for sure.....

The "Far Left Coalition" has been in power
in the CC Democrat Chair since TG and his "Ground Gamesters"
took over. With this chair vote, they still maintains that control
      of the chair position.

TG was NOT for Ron Ellis!
      TG worked AGAINST him.
The city went for Mr. Ellis
in an upset of the power brokers by a 14-11 vote.

Mr. Ellis ran an excellent race
for the Jeffersonville City Council in 2015
and is very popular with the voters.

      Mr. Ellis defeated the entrenched
"Far Left Sycophants" in the city vote,
but the power brokers held on county wide
to name the new county chair that TG wanted.

TG and company were NOT for PC or DS.
The "inside power brokers" were for KM.

Ron Ellis has broad based support
in the City of Jeffersonville and will be an excellent councilman.

      Go Ron!

    2. The GOB "Perkins Wing" of the party got their asses handed to them in the chair vote and that's a fact. And if being left of Hitler makes me a "far left synchophant" I guess I'll just have to wear that moniker proudly. Also, too, you betcha, your use of the terms "fake news, "far left syncohants" and "Democrat Chair" pretty much out you as a Republican by name or by nature, so any "analysis" of the state of the Democratic party by you should be taken with a boulder of salt. As far as Mr. Ellis, of course I hope he will do a good job, but I would vote for someone else in a primary because he is too tied to the old guard GOBs like Perkins and Cooper and especially now that a Republican seems to have such a vested interest in supporting him. And just to be clear, "the city" didn't vote for Ellis. He was voted in by a 3 vote majority of Democratic precinct persons to fill the seat after Josh Rodriguez passed away - a seat that Josh WAS voted into by "the city."

    5. That doesn't include the "Clark County 13" votes. 10 of those people cast their ballots and all 10 were votes for Miller.

      Delete
    6. I'm pretty sure I'm not a part of GOBs club and there is no Perkins wing.

The GOBs were defeated because they don't have the votes in Jeffersonville. Ron would have had 18 votes but people were out of town. He has broad support among democrats.

The GOBs still control the Party as a whole as Galligan made the necessary last minute appointments to ensure, now Miller's, success.

It's not 15, but 28 invalid appointments being appealed. Galligan informed the caucus on March 4th that there were an additional 15 invalid appointment then refused to correct it.

  19. From the newsandtibune.com:

Some of the votes cast in the caucus for Clark County Democratic Party Chair are being appealed by Jeffersonville City Councilman Dustin White.

At least 13 voters were vice precinct committee people who did not live in the precinct that they were representing, which is against Indiana Democratic Party rules.

The Democratic Party's 9th Congressional District Committee will rule on White's appeal on April 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Bloomington at city hall.

Is the appeal and the discussion

It is not a secretive, smokey back room manipulation, so it should be.

    It would be informative
