City Council Vote....You Know How This One Will Go

The BatBlog asked City councilman Ed "Moe" Zastawny

Q; Will you be voting yourself a pay raise ???

You can bet the house that the forthcoming vote by the Jeffersonville city council to give themselves a pay raise will be approved. Never mind that this would make them a bunch of hypocrites (again) after crying fiscal responsibility in eliminating Jeffersonville City court last year. It isn't the first time this council has spoken out of both sides of their collective mouths on being responsible and smart management of our tax dollars. The Woehrle soccer complex is apparently in line for another cool million to be spent on locker rooms by these hypocrites.

We all know the elimination of the Jeff city court was a political hatchet job instituted by Matt (Lapdog) Owen and most likely influenced by sheriff Jamey Noel. Owen isn't smart enough to think this up on his own...and even if he was he wouldn't have the balls unless someone was backing him. The lie of eliminating the court for financial considerations not only exasperated but insulted the intelligence of the residents and voters of Jeffersonville.

So moving forward the BatBlog predicts the Jeffersonville populace will be paying more for the stupid , hypocritical decisions made by this council and we can only hope that the makeup of the new council in 2016 will bring some needed honesty and common sense...

***  On a side note Dale Moss'  FLUFF PIECE  in the N/T on Ed "Moe" (am I a Rep. or a Dem ?.) Zastawny, mentioned the picture of Moe sitting in the Dem. party booth and posted here on The BatBlog.... Notice the Julius for Mayor T-shirt....

  1. Just goes to show you that if you make a $500 campaign contribution to the City Council President (GILL) you get a big raise like the Clerk (CONLIN) did. The Streets and Sanitation workers should have greased the wheels a bit and got a raise out of these elections.

  2. Vicki wouldn't donate to Republican candidate.

She would be friendly and all but she wouldn't help their
    campaign.

  3. Is hosting a sign helping a campaign?

  4. Again, what is wrong with bipartisanship in this city?

  5. All candidates and elected officials should be able to support whomever they want, though some loyalty groundrules within the parties make sense.

The only problem I have is hypocrisy, or disloyalty being used as an excuse to, say expell precinct committeemen, then overlooked when others do it.

Some consistency or shutting the hell up about it would be nice. Ed Z is one who has cried to party leaders about others being disloyal when it was his race involved. He should decide how he thinks that should work and stick with it.

I think that the individual meetings
    have gone very well and
    that we can envision
    the incoming council
    working with
    the mayor.
AN END to the silly, constant political posturing may be at hand!
    :)
    Positive in Jeffersonville!

A new era of cooperation will be very nice!
Jeffersonville is an era of substantial growth and improvement.
I agree. Let's leave the hate and attempts to block
the progress in the rear view mirror!

  8. there's nothing wrong with a normal raise in pay, if it's deserved... as long as it IS deserved. there should be some system that is balanced and adhered to. if people get elected and then don't perform to a standard(in my mind that is attending meetings and being involved...)
besides not being allowed to run again, definitely no pay raise!

  9. The reality of this closure of city court will be added taxes financed the taxpayer. The courts and probation are in the business of job security. City courts, for the most part, dispose of minor offense's quickly. A PI or minor possession of a drug are given a few days in jail and fined. Sometimes a brief period of probation is imposed. When these cases are transferred to the Circuit Court they become "major cases". One pill in your pocket and one now has a felony charge. These same cases will not have one year of probation or more. They will be charged exorbitant fees. If they violate the minor case become a long term nightmare. If they don't have the money to pay fees, they often are extended on probation or sent to jail. This is illegal by statue although Indiana courts send indigent people to jail frequently. Be damned, about the law. The probation office and court don't have to abide by the law. Does Drug Court and Judge Jacobi come to mind. Who do you think is going to pay the tab for that nightmare. Politicians running on being hard on welfare mothers and criminals is a sure vote. It's a shame that the public does not know or understand the realities of the criminal justice system.

Once again, 'ol 3rd District voter did not write the above!
I am sure that even the 'hateful stalkers' can see the dif in style
so please don't stalk me, bro.
    Thank you.

    The Indiana General Assembly
will be asked to correct this terrible miscarriage of justice
    carried out by the council.

  11. On Nov. 19 a request by Judge Carmichael, was made of, and approved by, the Commissioners, for a safety assessment of the government building by the National Sheriff's Association at the cost of $9, 245.
