Moving Forward....After the Election

The BatBlog asked  three of Jeffersonville's City councilpersons for their reaction to Mike Moore's victory....

The 2015 Elections are history other than possible recounts, so what does the future hold ??? Re-elected mayor Mike Moore has an opportunity for a fresh start and to connect with a fairly new city council. The "Obstructionist 5" (Ed "Moe" Z, Julius, Sellers, Smith and Gill) are history, as only Moe and Gill return to office. The new councilmen and councilwoman should be more willing to work with the mayor than the "Obstructionist 5" were. They played politics from day 1 of the Moore administration, and appeared only interested in replacing Moore with Julius, and blocking or delaying the majority of the mayor's projects in order to improve the Julius candidacy.

Moore has said he will reach out to the new council and hopes to heal wounds and have a better relationship.. The key will be Gill and "Moe", will they put aside their obvious dislike/jealousy of MM in order to progress forward or continue their obstructionist ways ??? Both are of the same party as the mayor (though Moe doesn't seem quite sure), both also have the tendency to think they are mini-mayors, nitpicking, micromanaging and delaying projects.

Gill and Moe need to realizee for the second straight time the people have chosen Moore to lead the city. Their job is too fund projects and enact ordinances, not micro analyze or create their own projects...they are NOT the Executive branch and the sooner they realize this the better off we the citizens will be...

As for the future Jeffersonville mayor Moore's main priority Priority 1... has to be improving traffic movement and the highway and road infrastructure. The east end traffic situation is terrible, especially the Hwy.62 corridor and the Holman Ln./ Allison Ln. thru to Utica Pike area. Either a new corridor to Veterans Pkwy. or widening Holman to four lanes is essential, adding a turning lane just won't get it...

Moore's projects, the entryway and 10th St. improvement are right on track, the jobs and economical outlook are  growing enormously, three of the "Obstruction 5" will be gone ...the future looks bright....

  4. It's unreal the GOP head had to dress down MOE, his own sister, and Sellers before introducing the Mayor. By the way, Where in the Hell did that photo of Gill come from you keep using? I'd sue your Bat Ass if I was she.

  9. The current council was in campaign mode the last 4 years. Their mission to get Julius elected. Classic Fail

  10. I hope this council gives Moore a hard time just as in the past.

  11. I don't care if they support him, as long as brings some worth while projects to the table. Unlike his first four years.

  12. The new fisherman's wharf, bridge landing. and entryway project quite a bit considering previous 20 years....

    1. Entryway project hasn't even started and a park was always planned at the landing.

He gets credit for the wharf, but that project doesn't really blow my squirt up. Does look nicer but the benefits for the city will be minimal.

  13. And then we have SR over on the Chatter spewing his very wise gobble-de-gook in the council's direction. What a load of it. Encouraging the new council to check their ego's and be more positive. Meaning rubber-stamp everything the biggest ego who's ever sat in the mayors office wants.

And any credibility that tool had left went out the window when he said Owen is doing a great job and has a bright future ahead of him. If that happens God help us all.

Selling his political soul just to run a sewer department. I guess that's fitting though.

  14. I like how the Moore haters attempt to deflect the success of every project or idea of his...

What they can't deflect is the people have spoken and chose Moore's vision over Galligan and Galligan Lite the past two elections

    Deflect that !!!

  15. Do we have to be "Moore haters" just because we don't want to credit him for things he did not do? I don't hate him at all.

  16. Didn't particularly mean you but that was a recurring theme of the Julius campaign...and believe me there are a lot of haters out there...

  17. What anonymous said above.

I don't "hate" the mayor ( and certainly not personally).

Before the election I said I was happy to give credit for the projects he was entrusted with finishing up...And I'll give that credit...The Big4 looks great and is a huge asset to downtown...And the marina...I said it was quite attractive and from a visual standpoint at least a big improvement.

But there are also things I haven't been thrilled with during his first administration...And giving voice to that isn't the same as hating.

He shows me more during his 2nd administration and I'll give credit for it.

  18. Exactly Jules! I'm for what is best for Jeffersonville. If Mike Moore supports what is best for Jeffersonville, then I will gladly give him my support.

What I cannot support is him standing in front of River Ridge next to where the new bridge is going in and saying "look what I did."

  19. But, that's not what he did. Keep an open mind, and you may just be pleased with the way things continue to progress.

  20. One of the Anonymous said above ... "Selling his political soul just to run a sewer department."

What?! Noooooooo!! I certainly hope you don't mean the Sewer *Billing* Department!
