Patronage Jobs...

There currently is a discussion on the local internet forum Clark County Chatter about political patronage jobs.  CLICK HERE  In particular is a dept. head recently released by mayor Mike Moore. The BatBlog's take on this is that anyone taking a patronage job is pretty naive to think these jobs are anything more than what they are. They are for patronage and paybacks to supporters of candidates who win election.

Each elected official if in a position to hire or fire may have a certain criteria he /she follows but these jobs are filled and refilled at the whim of the office holder. That's just the nature of the political beast, and let's be honest 99% of these jobs aren't brain surgery and no specific skills are required.

So if in this particular situation if this is being used as a thinly veiled criticism of Jeffersonville mayor Mike Moore the BatBlog says Come On !!! Every patronage job is issued and rescinded at the discretion of the winning candidate. It may not sound fair but that's just the way it is, they all do it.So if if you have a problem with the way the system works The BatBlog suggests if  offered a "patronage " job... respectfully turn it down....

  3. I agree with you totally Anon. Bubby Vissing probably did a good job....but politicians love to have their asses kissed and that plays into who's in and who's out...

Alls fair in love, war and politics...

who hired them, and who succeeded them......
Did they all have the same "attachments"....as anon alleges?

  5. Not sure but I think Galligan's head of the garage before Missing got fired for being drunk and crashing a city vehicle...

  6. Let's face it government and politics are about the only places where qualifications and ability mean absolutely nothing toward securing a job....

If a business operated like politics they would be bankrupt in a short amount of time...

  7. The head of the garage who got fired for being drunk and crashing a city vehicle was Drury - not Vissing.
