Toxic John's Last Hurrah

Lame duck  "Toxic" John Perkins plans one final last hurrah in his final months as appointed Clark Co, Commissioner. He has hired an attorney in hopes of filing a lawsuit against River Ridge Development Authority Story Click Here for allegedly not paying excess funds back to the County. Perkins has gone out on his own as the other two commissioners feel a lawsuit isn't the way to handle the issue. The BatBlog wonders why Perkins is allowed to go out on his own on this, shouldn't this require at least the approval of one of the other Commissioners ??? And why isn't "Toxic John" using the county's own attorney, spending taxpayer money for another attorney when the county is nearly broke  ???

It seems like another case where ole "Toxic John" sticks it to the taxpayer. He was influential in both the annexation and the methadone clinic, both unpopular with the residents involved. The signing of his girl friend to a contract for insurance of Co. employees and even his appointment itself to the Commissioners position was controversial. We get it John you like to act important but your a loser that the voters have rejected time and time again. You haven't won an election in years, so save us some money and just forget about your lawsuit and sit quietly for the remainder of the term you were given , not elected to. There are enough lawsuits flying around as is, with mandates and class action suits by drug court participants. "Toxic John' the residents of Clark Co. don't like you or your politics so just shut the hell up....

  1. Think of River Ridge as a non-profit. They can end they year with whatever dollar amount they want so as not to have excess.

So long as the county and municipalities never push for any money to pass through, River Ridge has no incentive to share.

  2. No county money is being wasted on this lawsuit. Perkins says he is paying for it himself. He is not acting as a Commissioner of Clark County, but as a private citizen.

River Ridge has be a driving force in developing a thriving business environment. They have never turn the community away when asked for assistance.

They are not the cash cow everyone thinks. If money is earmarked for projects it is not excess. I am confident that this community will reap the rewards of River Ridge's and One Southern Indian's efforts. The rewards being good paying jobs for the citizens of Clark County.

  3. Thanks for the information Rick, as a resident and I feel most residents of Clark Co. feel the same, that River Ridge is a major boon to this area. The future bridge will create even more economic opportunities.

Like any large business, whatever excess monies R.R.may have accumulated needs to be held in reserve for emergencies, future projects, etc. They are providing for Clark Co. with the jobs you spoke of.

Once again Perkins like he's done on other occasions is thumbing his nose at the wishes of his constituents, but it's good to hear that his actions don't involve tax dollars...Thanks again for the information

  4. I have no problem with RR reinvesting their money into improvement projects. How else is RR supposed to continue their growth. RR is the best thing that has happened to Clark Co. In quite some time. We, the citizens will eventually reap the rewards of have RR in our County. Job are already there and much more are coming. Future economic growth (stores, restaurants) will follow all resulting in greater tax revenue for Jeffersonville and Clark Co. All I can say is keep growing.

  5. Ah yes. Earmarks. So truly, they can end each year with whatever figure they see fit. Just have to invent some projects and convince the politicians they are Midas. No need for accountability.

  6. We need a countdown clock to mark his time left in office.
He is living proof that the Dem. party is out of touch with their party members.

  7. Rumor has it that Perkins will back in another County office next year. If a certain democrat wins one of the offices being contested in November, word is that the democrat will step aside early in the term after taking office and the powers controlling the democrat party will appoint Perkins to assume the office, basically the same way he was appointed county commissioner.
