ReplyDeleteGood for him and his campaign. Still a mistake but we all make them. Now that I have watched the forum maybe someone can explain some things to me. I met the three of these men at the four-h fair, they all seemed like nice men. But after reviewing the candidates qualifications I am left with a serious question. What qualifies a 20 year patrolman-- Spainhour to be Sheriff ? He has zero executive budget experience. When I asked him at the 4H fair he told me he balances his checkbook at home? Now as a man who has been in big business for thirty years I know there is a huge difference in the two.
ReplyDeleteSo for several weeks I have been watching these boards and Facebook. And the best I can come up with is his supporters think he is a nice guy and family man. I would agree with that assessment but I would disagree that qualifies you to be Sheriff. I would refuse to compare him to the now former Sheriff, however I would like to state that he had similar qualifications and was thought to be a good family man, so much so that he beat out all three of the current candidates.
After watching the debate, reading the news and meeting him I still question it all. Super guy in my opinion but not sure after seeing what I see he will be capable of running an Office with a 9 million dollar budget.
Good luck to all three of the candidates but I would look deeper than just being a nice guy.
First of all, it's a breath of fresh air we need more than anything. If given that with the election of Spainhour, living within a budget is not rocket science. Children can do it!
ReplyDeleteWe have to have a sheriff that is honest. Sorry but Noel "doesn't pas the smell test" and Meyer, unfortunately is too connected with the previous administrations hi jinx.
We must have a sheriff that the children look up to. One who has already been trying to teach them how to be good productive citizens. We MUST stop the pipeline from our schools to the jail!
We must have a sheriff who does not try to hide his dealings (GOP HQ or has elected officials on payroll).
I find it hard to believe that with Meyer in the Sheriff's dept. For 25 years he did not know about the jail drug use, sheriff Rodden exploits etc and did not report it??
The corruption and good ol boy network will never change if first we don't change the sheriff's office. If not now..when?
Thanks for the response. As I said I watched the forum. I think some of mac's comments on immigration were offensive. And your response re states what I all ready stated. The supporters are going to vote for him because he is a good guy, this is the very reason the current "good ol boy" system is in place. It is obvious from reading the pamplet I got in the mail his choice of chief is his friend, do we not have someone from within the Sheriff's Office he can use? Or is he just going to use friends and family? That is the definition of good ol boy if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteI came away least impressed with Brian However in his defense your statement about him not doing anything about the jail problems is far fetched. What was he supposed to do? The sheriff is the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the county. Not much Brian could have done if he wanted 2. Where Brian has went wrong is blaming it on the corrections staff.
Onto the last guy. From what I can see the complaints about him have been nothing but personal. Seems as if he takes his life serious and has done well in all his jobs. Of course mistakes have been made but all three have done that. Just based off of what he can bring he appears to be the best to me. However I am sure we will disagree and that's the beauty of politics we get to vote. I just don't understand the bashing around here.
