As reported first on GAW news.CLICK HERE and later by the News/Tribune CLICK HERE . The local Republican headquarters is housed in a building owned by New Chapel EMS which is ambulance company run by GOP chairmen and Clark Co. sheriff candidate Jamey Noel. The GOP paid no rent for 2013 and has a lease for only $200.00 a month for 2014 according to the N/T story. The question is did Noel use his position with New Chapel to benefit the GOP ??
In Noel's own words "from the initial smell test, it would look like something's not right" but said he did not use his position as chief of New Chapel EMS to benefit the Republican Party. The BatBlog agrees this just doesn't pass the "smell test" and questions Noel's claim that during 2013 when no rent was paid "There was no political activity, really, per se going on up there." but admitted the site likely had "people meeting there" The BatBlog wonders what the people were meeting there for if wasn't politics ....a game of Cornhole or Pin the Tail on the Donkey ???
The BatBlog also wonders why Mr. Noel brought Republican attorney Tom Lowe along for the N/T interview...
The big question though is, will this "HeadquartersGate" hurt Noel's campaign and damage other GOP candidates ??? The BatBlog think's not ,while it definetly has a fishy smell it appears nothing illegal was done. Voters are pretty blase about dirty tricks and such around Clark Co. ...they are more or less expected. Only the very savvy voters pay attention to this kind stuff unless it's a really big scandal like the Rodden affair. Name recognition is still the dominating factor in local elections and Noel with his involvement in several different organizations and prominence in the news still has that in his favor and is probably the favorite to win the sheriff's position....
But the BatBlog strongly agrees it just doesn't pass the smell test......
Sounds like a lot of hoopla about nothing. Dems. Are getting desperate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, this just a minor issue, doesn't sound right but everything appears legal. It's election time and everyone's looking for an edge...
ReplyDeleteSeriously doubt this will make much of a difference to the voters...
How about the use of a non taxed not for profit (the Utica fire dept.) to benefit the GOP?
ReplyDeleteI also wonder how much minions like Matt Owen are paid to "work" for uvfd? It's a nice gig.....
It might get voters attention if they find out party business happened there in 2013 but that's not what he said.
ReplyDeleteThe Democrats are going to have to go some to top Rodden giving away sheriff's dept. clothing to a prostitute and getting a 300 dollar BJ as far as scandals go...
ReplyDeleteThe granddaddy of all scandals.
Look in the lower left hand window, it looks like Hutt is in there.
ReplyDeleteHogs at the trough.
ReplyDeleteMatt Owen is not a minion. That is all.
ReplyDeleteHow much is Matt Owens paid Chopper woman?
ReplyDeleteI'm a democrat. It's his property and he can do as he damn pleases. If I own my property I can let the Outlaws Motorcycle Club use it as their clubhouse. Bitch about something significant.
ReplyDeleteDo you pay taxes on your property? If business income paid for the property, did you pay taxes on it?
ReplyDeleteThe property isn't *his*. It belongs to a nonprofit.
From the IRS: Political parties; campaign committees for candidates for federal, state or local office; and political action committees are all political organizations subject to tax under IRC section 527 and may have filing requirements with the Service.
ReplyDeleteThe UVFD is a 501c4 about which the IRS says: Types of Organizations Exempt under Section 501(c)(4)
Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(4) provides for the exemption of two very different types of organizations with their own distinct qualification requirements. They are:
Social welfare organizations: Civic leagues or organizations not organized for profit but operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare, and
Local associations of employees, the membership of which is limited to the employees of designated person(s) in a particular municipality, and the net earnings of which are devoted exclusively for the promotion of social welfare.
Homeowners associations and volunteer fire companies may be recognized as exempt as social welfare organizations if they meet the requirements for exemption.
So let me get this straight. The Demacrats have the fooling issues: Chuck Adams promising a $70,000 a hare job to someone as a political kickback and then dropping out of the sheriff's race in disgrace. Danny Rodden being charged by the Feds and pleading guilty. Several other high ranking employees of the sheriff's department have suddenly decided to retire or leave. Joe Renckgate is an ever going saga. There are multiple employees in the probation office which is basically run by the Demecrat judges who get paid to do nothing all the while claiming the department is woefully understaffed. And the they want to bring up alleged free use of a building. Well hell that just about makes it even then doesn't it. Keep digging you might find out they even used the bathroom while in the building and then the Republican Party will be forced to disband.
ReplyDeleteGOP HQ August 2013 : http://toddyoung.org/kickoff
ReplyDeleteAdams, Rodden, Renk, etc., are not candidates for public office.
ReplyDeletebut nice try at deflecting.
It is not just "letting someone use a building".
ReplyDeleteThis is using a non taxed organization that rakes in over 2 million a year to build up a personal fiefdom in Clark County by distribution of jobs, vehicles and other personal perks. The directing of a political party...housing the HQ with a building owned by the non profit so as to obtain an advantage over other political parties.
Is it legal? Probably. Is it moral?
All one can say is that Mr. Noel, himself, commented that it does not pass the smell test.
What were Rodden's charges? Were they use of a prostitute or were they related to lying about the prostitute?
ReplyDeleteThe building maybe isn't a big thing. Lying is. Party business was conducted there in 2013. He lied. He lied when it wasn't smart. He lied when the evidence of the lie is out there.
Have emails and calls been made to all the Republicans that know they were there for events last year to tell them to keep quiet? What is the plan for that? Does membership in the Clark County GOP require lying to reporters for the chief?
Is Matt Owen the only one who works for Jamie at New Chapel? How much work do they do? Is that a 40 hour a week job or is he just 'on call' and paid for full or part time?
ReplyDeleteSomeone said the Coroner also has a job with him. What and who exactly is beholden to the guy?
People new chapel ems is a PRIVATE company and he can do what he wants with it, and taxes are paid get ur information straight! And i think ur wrong about the dems trying to cause this trouble, i bet my money it was an independent.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a private company. It's a nonprofit corporation.
ReplyDeleteI am confused. If there was no activity or use by the republican party in 2013, why did the Republican party pay 50% of the phone bill?
ReplyDeleteJamie said it was a 501 c4....not a private company. Allowed to engage in "limited" political activity.
ReplyDeleteHe is an operator and apparently, not honest to the press. Time to move on.
ReplyDeleteIt does appear that Noel played a little loose with the truth concerning the political activities in earlier years. But if we eliminated every politician that lied we would have none left...
ReplyDeleteI don't see many Noel supporters changing their minds over this issue and still think Noel is the man to beat ...but I back Mac....
I agree it won't sway strong supporters of Noel. It will tip those on the fence in to someone else's camp.
ReplyDeleteNoel's standing in his organization has been dinged. He put all active Republicans in an uncomfortable position with his lie. They aren't all liars. He'll feel the consequences of this one for a long time.
Kelly, I believe your post about the Todd Young event is incorrect. That was a 2014 event. Check the date and day of the week with your calendar.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for what Kelly has on her calendar, but I do know the content of the email I received:

We'll have special guests on hand including Chairman Tim Berry and Secretary of State Connie Lawson, for an afternoon of fun and fellowship as Todd and our Republican team provide updates on the fight ahead. Most importantly though, this gives us the chance to thank you for getting involved.
Please join us Saturday, November 9th at 1pm at the Victory Center in Jeffersonville."
Oh. So ...I guess he didn't remember that stuff.
ReplyDeleteA sheriff with a shoddy memory? Sounds as bad as one that lies.
ReplyDeleteWhere did the Clark County Republican Women regularly meet last year? The Young Republicans?
ReplyDeleteCan't trust this guy (Noel)
ReplyDeleteWhen will we have a candidate that doesn't lie, cheat, steal, or forget! I'm so sick of hearing how my county government is in the news for this or for that. All I've ever seen it to be is a big chess match where the two parties bicker and argue rather than get stuff done. It's an embarrassment to all of us that we can't stand proudly behind the people that we elect and when an individual comes from the outside they are laughed at for not being a part of the two machines. I long for the day I can smile again when I tell people I am from Clark County Indiana.
ReplyDeleteVote for Mac Spainhour then!
ReplyDeleteOMG. IM has "audited" New Chapel and has some great questions.
ReplyDeleteThey sure buy a lot of equipment!
This is only one piece of the pie! Mr. NOEL has been really good at hiding things...example: Hiding your 1st born daughter from a prior relationship from your wife for several years! If a man can have that kind of morals what else is he capable of if he is elect Sheriff?? You can validate this by seaching Floyd County court records. As for the statement about the Boy Scouts how he is all for helping our children, PLESE! You little to none involment in the 1st child's life voluntarily. I have been a close friend to that family and can not believe nobody has questions his parenting morals, I forgot nobody really knows the truth! So before you vote do some research and your find the truth of his character...just saying
ReplyDeleteNoel has too many skeletons in the closet. Do.not.trust.him.
ReplyDeleteAlso - anyone been victimized by his chosen chief deputy Kevin Fisher? Lots have. He delights in being a bully trooper on I-65 in his black mustang. Fits right in with Noel's bully pulpit tactics at the firehouse, ems and GOP hqtrs. He has gotten the word out (down) that anyone that works UNDER him can only remain employed if they vote for him. Fine man he is - dishonest, immoral, lies, bully, non-trustworthy - who knows what else?
Your correct I know an individual that worked at New Chapel and if you didn't fit in and kiss ass out comes reasons to fire them and in this case it was due to personal hygiene issues this induvidual had a five o clock shadow while other employee's had full beards.Noel didn't even have the gull to fire this individual had an employee do it.So this individual thought it was not right to be fired due to this so when he tried to speak out about it the attorney for fire dept.threatened this induvidual. How about doing a blog on personal hygiene issues in Clark County Jail.
