Nice Article on Dick Jones

The New/Tribune has one of Dale Moss' fluff pieces on recently retired County Clerk Dick Jones. Dick is one of the true gentlemen, nice guys, and real public servants that this area has ever known. Dick who always had a smile and a friendly word of advice or answer to any question or problem pertaining to any of the various offices he held over the years. In one of his selfless acts he retired early so his workers in his office could receive a raise. Knowing it was time to retire he left without fanfare, but he will truly be missed and will leave a legacy of one of the finest gentlemen to ever serve office in Jeffersonville and Clark Co.

The BatBlog wishes Dick Jones a happy and long retirement and well wishes and hope he catches the big one on his next fishing trip.  On a side note the BatBlog hopes Tom Galligan and John Perkins take Dick's lead and follow him into retirement....Maybe Dick can take the two of them on one of his fishing outings along with NHBSM who we would welcome to hear less of as well...

  1. It's a shame there aren't more office holders, politicians like Dick Jones. Galligan and Perkins won't retire because in their delusional thick heads they think they are someway relevant.

They don't realize how much those two hurt the local democrats but on the other hand their self inflated egos won't let them care either.

    Good retirement Dick!

  3. This was one of the best things Moss has written. I usually stop after the second paragraph of nonsense. I'd read this nearly to the end before I realized it was Moss'.

Dickie is one of those guys no one has a mean thing to say about. The one time I interacted with him officially was a treat. There was a minor problem I'd had for 21 years before the conversation. It was virtually gone after.

  5. Dick Jones did nothing more then his job, and for once that is a good thing and why people loved him and respected him. He is a good man and was always helpful.

But as a Republican I can only thank the actions of Galligan,Perkins, Judge Weber, Judge Jacobi, Joe Renk and Mr. Hutt, because of you Clark County Republicans have a chance to run the table, who would of thought that.

  6. One of the nicest and most decent men I've ever met. I've always found him to be kind and helpful to all regardless of their politics. Dick Jones is one who does the right thing even when no one is looking. I appreciate his kindness as a neighbor to my parents as well. I hope he enjoys a long and rewarding retirement!

  7. Dang HT including Galligan and Perkins in the post isn't fair to Dickie. They could take some lessons on how to be a gentleman from Dick Jones.
